Try her facing the fence, that will keep her from "leaking" forward. Look in the direction you want to move, "open" the rein in the direction you want to move, and "close" the rein against her neck on the other side, just like you do your legs.
It's like opening and closing doors. Hope this helps. You are doing very well, keep up the good work.
you want to turn her head the opposite way you are going and give pressure and keep it there until she moves then release all pressure and walk forward. i just recently got my horse to sidepass and thats how i did it. i taught him one day and now he knows it completely. and the turning the head thing really works when you are on the fence so they dont move forward. but if you can do it in the middle then great job!
No, the head should be pointing the SAME WAY that the horse is going, only very slightly though,as the front legs & head lead and the horse should move slightly forwards as well; only an advanced horse can move almost totally sideways. The head points the OTHER way in leg yield , which is also sideways but in a different way.
try not to look down when giving her the cue. keep your head forward so your body stays perfectly centered and balanced, that should give her more room to work her forequarters.
