I feel that by making Near win it breaks the story, since in my mind the only one able to stop or kill kira was L. So for me after L dies the story lost 95% of its awsomeness and after seeing the end, I was very dissapointed.

It's still respectable. The only way for L to die was to be killed by a Shinigami itself. Otherwise he couldn't be defeated. Even Light respects L in alot of ways, since they are nearly the same.
