This game gets easy after u beat it. To get the 1up on the loop u hav to go back, find a checkpoint, and a moving platform will come. After some more moving platforms theres falling ones. Fall off the 2nd one and youll get on top of it

2) I didn't really care for Sonic Heroes.

3) I DO appreciate the classics. In my opinion, the classics are the best. That's why I'm hoping Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will be somewhat good (probably not but worth a shot).

the way you get that one life that you didnt know how to get. if you notice before you went on the loop there was a spring that was facing towards the hill towards the loop where the life is on top. you use the spring to launch you in that direction and hit the jump button at the top of the slope on the way towards the loop. it may take a couple tries but you can get it. i have.

Well, yes, pretty much everyone knows about the ring concept, but when I started playing the Sonic series, I didn't know what the rings did. That tip was mostly for beginners.
