that makes no sense. i don't know exactly how long mankind has existed for on Earth. or even how long the Earth itself has existed. but lets say for arguments sake that mankind has been around for 30000 years. how do we know that there isn't another planet in another galaxy that has had far more intelligent life on it for millions of years? and in that time they've invented modes of transport we can't even imagine and as a result they've been able to travel distances at speeds we can't dream of?
because, we know that there is no life near us at all, but there must be life out there, even if another race could travel at the speed of light, then they would still be way too far away to get here, we are talking millions of light years, by which time, the human race will have probably died out.

Ok guys look at the rod. Its wings are not like a bird or insect. The wings move like a corkscrew which means one side of the wing moves up and the other side or part moves down. Its wing movements are not moving at the same time. So how can that be a bird or insect.

Rods are insects! on a regular camera the ROD effect will by produced by moths flying fast. Rod is a term applied to flying objects at high speed that prduce this effect when caught in a regular camera, nobody ever said rods were a new specie.

I watched a show recently where they set up a regular camera and a high speed camera. The regular camera caught video of Rods flying by. They then showed the high-speed camera footage.... MOTHS.
I'm open to the possiblity to "rods" being a real animal. It could be a blurred insect, an undiscovered species of insect or a known species that has been subject to motion blur defect. I belive it is likly a known species of insect that's flying at a high speed, thus the camera is unable to capture and focus the wingbeats properly and creating the rod effect. Although, there is always a slim possibility that it could be an insect that has yet to be discovered. It's best to keep an open mind.

i spotted my first rod over Manhattan last night, which was visible for only a few moments.
It must have been quite large, as the cloud bank it darted into from underneath was several miles from my rooftop vantage point.
It gave me the sense of a bird flying, even though it was a sleek, illuminated shape..
