sonny moore aka skrillex did not invent dubstep lmfao? ever heard of caspa? first example sonny made gypsyhook in 09 wasnt dubstep then he started skrillex caspa has shit that goes back to 2006 hes not the only one either just letting you know dubstep began way before skrillex but i do like skrillex just dont deserve credit for anything except beigin a type of dubstep that everyone copies now.

@adrenacrumb Id say Doctor P had a huge influence on brostep also, when Sweet Shop came out it was the big track to hear at every rave in the UK. After that everyone copied that high pitched sound. Rusko was a big influence in bringing it to the US.

And yeah zed bias and El-B are originators, along with scream and benga pushing the sound further around 2002 onwards. back in the day..

@XXHolden Zed Bias and El-B pretty much created the dubstep sound messing around with uk garage and dub and are the main influence for Burial about 1999, but the first artist to be given the name and defines the genre is Horsepower Productions.

@cms2943 No idea mate. He hasn't done an interview in years so not sure what software he is using these days. Something interesting to note is the catalogue number, HBD013, yet this was released when other Hyperdub singles had catalogue numbers in the fifties, which would suggest to me this is older material (maybe outtakes from the Untrue LP). All speculation though

@DjRedgie It's different from burial's usual stuff because its dub techno and not dubstep. The heavy reverb bass, thats the dub element and the kick drums on every beat with the claps on the second and fourth is the typical house/techno pattern. Except burial uses a woodblock instead of claps because, well, its Burial. Although I love this track its nothing particular innovative, dub techno has been around for the past 20 years, its just never had any mainstream exposure.
