  • @SteamfitterStu Go by the written recipe. Early on, I learned that its better not to give measurements in my videos and just best to write them out, it's more accurate that way, let me know if you have any other questions ;)

  • @rapps143 thanks for the input, this was one of the first DedeMed videos,,,the newer videos all have close ups, you live you learn :)

  • Hi Dede!! this looks like a great recipe! Before I give it a try I wanted to asked if you've ever heard of putting pomegranate molasses in the dressing? I've heard that people do that and it adds a great taste! Any idea how much of the pomegranate molasses I should add to the dressing mixture that you mention in this video?

  • @zahra14300 Yes, actually that is an option as well, or you can drizzle some of it on top of the salad and it tastes great :)

  • hi im assyrian my mom makes that lol

  • @glitterjuicygirl wonderful :)

  • I love Arabic cuisine, I learnt how to cook a lot of dishes when living as an Au Pair for an Iraqi family in Qatar. I never did fattoush, actually, but brought some Sumac back home in Mexico to make some, flavors are the best memory I can have from the Middle East. Thanks for the recipes, I'm checking out your website, I'm going to try PITA BREAD! One thing, using limes instead of lemons, is it ok? No lemons where I live... thanks!

  • @pauflores I'm so glad that you like my recipes :) Yes you can use limes if you cannot find any lemons :) check out my site for more recipes.

  • thanks for the great recipes. i'm making baba ganoush right now and will serve it with fattoush tonight. summer is finally over here, but this will taste like extra summer!

  • exactly, I love fattoush!

  • u can make more healthy if u put the bread in the oven instead of frying it

  • very true, that is an option I mention in my video :)

  • Very useful, thank you for the great video.

  • You're so welcome :)

  • yumm ill make this today :D thx sweety looks so yummy and easy

  • im not from the mid east but have been makins this salad a long time and me and the family LOVES it even the kids...

i never tried it with the garlic... but one thing i do is always keep the fried pite seperate and let people add it as they please just to keep it crispy .. but great video and ure HOT

  • thank you and yes you can definitely keep the pita separate and have each person put it on top :)

  • Hey dede

    Good job :) looks tempting

I am Lebanese (Middle Eastern) one of the basic ingredient of Fattoush is grenadine molasses, try adding it to Fattoush and Tabboule, it really tastes great :)

  • Very true, it is amazing with fattoush and with meat pies as well. :)

  • Bravo, Dede...turned out stellar!! I did add chicken to the salad, which is how one of my fav. Lebanese restaurants in Arlington, VA serves it. One problem though -- I couldn't find sumac in ANY grocery store, including World Mkt. I went to Lebanese Taverna in Arlington as a last resort & asked ever so nicely if they'd be willing to part with some. Not only did they do that, they gave me pita chips, as well (said mine were no good :) I'll be trying your tabbouleh recipe next. THANKS!! u r great

  • wonderful to hear, I am so happy you liked it :)

    HAPPY COOKING!

  • y r u so cute???

  • pls can u write all the ingredients for four persons? I wanna do it for my roommates :)

  • GO to my site, all the recipes are written out and for how many people it will serve :)

  • You could chop a pita in squares, spray some oil on the them. Bake them in the oven on medium law. they get so crispy.

  • great tip :)

  • looks really good..thanks for sharing it..

  • instead of frying the pita bread, is it okay to just toast it?

  • Yes of course, that's the healthy way :)

  • Thank you so much for this recipe!

  • you can also toss the pita bread with sumac, garlic and olive oil and then bake in the oven.

  • sounds yummy :)

  • mmmmmm looks so good but i never tried it with carrots though

  • You'll love it :)

  • Carrot? That's a little unusual in fattoush, isn't it??

  • It adds great color and great taste, remember people want to eat with their eyes too! Fattoush is know for being colorful :)

  • I agree - and Fattoush usually has a wonderful appearance...

One tip though: using red/purple cabbage causes the dressing to turn a less appetizing reddish/purple in fattoush.

I much prefer to use raddichio instead - nicer color and texture imho!

Thx again for the videos - they're great and keep them coming!!

  • great idea but be careful because raddichio can sometimes be bitter, just don't add to much :)

  • this is my most favorite salad

  • that was a GREAT video, you did the fattoush from A to Z ! niiiiiice

I have a question is it possible to post a recipe for Kebbeh and Kebbeh balls ? :-D

    merci

  • I will be making my Kebbeh video soon, I promise :)

  • ur videos make my mouth water :) .. u are a very good cook and a cute one i might add ^^

  • Don't worry, it looks scary but I know what I'm doing. THanks for the comment :)

  • Some people also add a pinch of allspice to the salad dressing. I love your recipes! Thank you for your great work.

  • hey dede i love your recipes.. there so good and u make it soo simple to make i myself am from middle east so im very familar wih most of our recipes my mom is always tellin me 2 learn how 2 cook nd thanks 2 u i now no how. but your fattoush video doesnt work can u please look into it thank you very much!!

  • fatoosh is the best, i make my own variations for instance with walnut pieces yeah i know that's not traditional but it's still good. Sometimes I add crumbled feta cheese as well. I happen to think that bell peppers make it too sweet. Anyway I'm glad i found this channel I'll check out more of these videos. I wonder if you have plain Yogurt video :)

  • Hi Dede, I am obsessed with Arabian Cuisine and I simply love your recipes. I wonder if you could help me, I'm so sorry for the trouble. But, I'm looking for a recipe on an Arab dish called Kabsa. Thanks for all your help Dede. Shukran Jazeelan. Bye

  • yes Kebsa is a great dish. I will post the recipe for you on my blog tomorrow.

  • Thank you so much! This is my favorite salad hands down and have wanted to prepare it for years. You said for the dressing to add 2 garlics. Are these 2 whole garlics or 2 cloves? Also do you have a video for preparation of garlic and Shawarma?

  • Add 2 garlic cloves. Check out my website, i have all kinds of recipe videos and yes Shawarma and garlic are on there too!

    Happy Cooking :)

  • THis is rice pudding :) great recipe, I will make it soon, my mother always made this for me when I was a kid.

  • hi Dede thanks for the great recipes, I am going to try this tonight.

  • fettoush is different from tabboulle cause fettoush is a salad and you can add grilled meat to it but tabboule is almost an appetizer that i personnaly mix with hummus and eat with thin pita bread.

  • good suggestion, they are both Lebanese salads and go great as an afternoon snack or as a salad served with steak, bbq or chicken :)

  • try tabboullle!

  • check out my tabouli video :)

  • Thank you for the wonderful video. I loved this recipe!!

  • Hi dedemed

well never heard of fatoush with carrot, gabage and parsley, hmmmmmm makes e wonder did I work as a pro leabense chief for over 30 yrs for nothin,by the way what makes a good fatoush is some green mint

  • I like adding the cabbage and carrot for color and b/c it's healthy, the parsley is a must for Lebanese salad along with mint, sometimes when you can't find green fresh mint it's ok to add dried mint :) Try it my way, i assure you you'll love it :)

  • i v never tried it this way before...maybe ill try it

  • Love your videos. I found you by googling for a recipe to make Tabouleh which I had bought at Costco and loved it. Your recipe is fabulous and so easy to make as I grow my own parsley, green onions and mint. Now, I can't wait to watch all your videos. Carol

  • thank you so much for your comment, i hope you enjoy this recipe forever :)

  • i have heard theres a recipe for rice pudding! its ment to be the best in lebanese food! do u know how to make it? ma salama

  • yes there is a wonderful rice pudding recipe, and i will put it on my list of new shows to make :)

  • thank you! would that be a romantic dish for a lebanese lady? am yemeni and i would like to make my lady something nice! and the lebanese people are the best cooks in the middle east!

  • it's a great dish and she will be so impressed. Try the hummus or baba ganoush on the side with some toated pita bread, she'll love it :) Good luck!

  • It's litle different as made in Bqaakafra

  • Thanx 4 this! ;D

    I love Lebanese food :P :P

  • thanks for the recipe.

Do you have something on how to make real lebanese garlic sauce (TOUM)? I would love to see a video on that. I hate the one they do in fast food joint with the mayo. to salty. But I tasted once a real one in canada and would love to know how to make it.

    awaiting for recipes

    cheers

  • 4 ingredients: garlic, canola oil, lemon juice, and egg whites, i'm in the process of having the video edited :)

  • shatoora

  • Wow what an excellent cook one of the best i have ever seen in my life. She should open her own restaurant or something like that. It would be full all the time

  • Really nice recipe dede! like your style! Keep on going, waiting for a new recipe ;-)!

  • The Fatooush is a Lebanese dish.

  • This looks delicious, this type of video is very helpful, thanks!

  • Dressing is too sour, yuck! The salad portion is delicious though, so do a dressing trial before mixing it all together. I used creamy italian instead and it is delicious. DeDe does a wonderful job in presenting this recipe.

  • Sorry that you didn't like the dressing, but that's the taste of the Mediterranean, lemony and garlicy :) that's what we like :) Good job combining it with another dressing, it's all about making the recipe suite your tastes.

  • yslamo haledane

  • a healthier alternative, that also tastes great, is to toast the pita bread in the oven instead of frying it. the trick is to get it nice and crunchy.

  • you are hot!!

    Thanks for the recipe.

  • great and informative. i'm gonna make this tonight!
