@PkkFreedomFighter you know, all you're doing here, is proving that angry kurdish people behave like sub-humans because of their blind rage and hate. I'm sorry, but in todays world, you behave like this, you get nowhere, look at IRAQI kurdistan, its flourishing, now shut up and let time tell what will happen. your hate is poisoning your life and the life of your children if any woman would ever have children with an intellectually inferior individual like you.
@PkkFreedomFighter Look up paganism, look up andronovo or any pre-civilization aryan cultures or sites. In CENTRAL ASIA, the ancestors of both IRANIANS (which includes KURDS), and Kurds (if they could even be considered separate people) , had intimate connections to astrology and the seasons, Nowruz predates Kurdish and iranian civilizations, although both of them are ancestors of the creators of nowruz, the people we can tentatively call, the aryans. Dont be so blinded by hate and anger
@PkkFreedomFighter youre so stupid. NOUROZ belongs to all people of greater central asia. From iranian peoples to turkic peoples, even kyrgyzstan and kazakhstan celebrate it. It is originally of the IRANIAN peoples and iranian plateau, that doesn't mean its exclusively kurdish. kurdish people are so blinded by their anger and ignorance, i am truly sorry for this. your anger doesn't allow you to see peaceful solutions to independence, FREE iran, and you will FREE all of us kurds in iran.
I have recently been in a position where I have had a chance tomeet alot of Iranian people and speak to them outside the confines of their own country. Without doubt Iranian people are the most polite, intelligent, kindest and lovliest people I have ever met. Makes me so sad to hear their stories - they deserve so much better.

@Haophil, Could not agree more, 1 year has passed and this has ignited many other struggles that play out as we speak, my heart goes out to all those putting their lives on the line to overthrow dictators.
If the world hates us for trying to help, why should we? Because they will hate us more for not helping?
Until the people rise up against their oppressors, we should not raise a single finger to aid them. It may sound harsh or unforgiving, but they must find the strength to fight for themselves. Only then can they appreciate what they have won. Only when they're willing to give up everything, should we be willing to do the same in kind.
To all those who say the West should stay out of Iranian affairs:
Every time those protests occur, the West (namely Britain and America) is blamed by the Iranian government as being behind it.
Why should we sit back and let these people be oppressed by theocratic tyrants?

I can hardly support them on the basis of this video. Perhaps if you presented me with some information I could make a responsible decision. I'll have a look into this, and if the case seems clear, I'll change my icon.
The Iranian people should dispatch and delete their regime even if it costs them millions of people doing so... the tragedy of a nuclear war on their soil is a real possibility as long as their current regime remains in power.
It is obvious that Iran is being destabilized by the EU and USA . Why is this channel applying the same type of dogma that creationists use when nearly 80 percent of the Iranians support their government.
Uh, you realize that Saudi Arabia has ever had only one election and it was held at the municipal level? That political parties aren't allowed there? That they have no legislature?
Even so, claiming that the Iranian elections were fairer than those is like saying that Stalin wasn't as bad as Hitler.
Surely the real choice is about the self determination of a sovereign country or the exploitation of it's natural resources by (US big business) foreigners.
The EU,USA and the Israelis (George Soros et,al) are all currently involved in a campaign to exacerbate any internal dissent in Iran which is causing the repressive state apparatus to treat it as a legitimate outside foreign security threat and concern.
i refuse to support any country where religon and state are not seperate. iran will allways be repressive unless religon and state become seperate there
The new Iran Deserve a chance out with the Old in With the New ,Im sure with out a doubt the CIAs lending them a hand. God Bless The Freedom Fighters were ever they are in the world.
Trouble is, the Iranian people don't really want freedom either. They want an Islamic republic that's a little less conservative with different people running it that has diplomacy and trade with the West.
The problem here is primarily contention within Islamic factions. And when you think about it, all Islamic theocracies are repressive, Iran is really no different. A popular overthrow in Iran would still be a repressive state, just repressive towards a different group.
Generalizations aren't wrong simply because they're generalizations. This is about power struggle within a generation gap. Both sides are Islamic, and there is no such thing as a progressive Islamic society, not by Western standards anyway. So whoever wins, it's still going to be a repressive society.
To add, it's important to note that this is a political struggle, not a social struggle. This is about a rigged election. It's not about liberal values, social justice, or equality before the law.
Both sides are Islamic and both sides want a theocratic Islamic state. They just disagree who should be running it.
The movement that is going on over there right now is a collective movement. It can certainly be generalized.
@malignantpoodle You know nothing of the history of Iranian political movements pre-revolution. Your arrogance is just laughable. Please don't reproduce, it'd be the best for humanity.
@malignantpoodle I'm a creationist? How'd you determine that one. It couldn't be further from the truth.
Fact of the matter is there was a vibrant support for secular government pre-revolution. It was stifled and oppressed by the religious thugs, but to say that the COUNTRY wants a theocracy as a whole is grossly inaccurate. Now, again, I reassert my plea for you to not reproduce.
As soon as you met disagreement, you got personal, and remain with personal attacks. That's acting just like a creationist. I said it was spoken like a creationist. I did not say you were a creationist.
For someone that struggles with basic English, I doubt that you seriously understand foreign issues discussed on an English based venue.
Iran has been one of the most stable Islamic republics in the world. What you say is simply not true, sorry.
So it's your assertion then that the opposition does not want an Islamic Republic?
Your assertion means that YOU are generalizing the opposition as being based on overthrowing Iran and forming it as something other than an Islamic Republic?
Again: your generalization of the desires of the population of Iran to live in a theocracy is patently false. It is an arrogant and ignorant statement which makes me view you with disdain since your statement implies they are somehow fundamentally different people. When in reality they have an abundance of varying viewpoints just like any other culture in the world. To ignore historical fact regarding pre-revolution political movements who were also fighting against the Shah is stupid.
Sure, individuals can have a different political views. You don't seem to understand very well; I'm not saying that every single Iranian feels exactly the same way.
But the COLLECTIVE MOVEMENT over there RIGHT NOW is not one based on fundamental political change; the collective movement supports Islamic theocracy.
As such, supporting the popular movement in Iran today is simply to oppose the current leaders of Iran. It has nothing to do with establishing a progressive society.
A lot of people here are saying the same thing. Most people know this. Your disdain for me and creationist attitude are based on nothing else than your dogmatic following of some of the top atheists on youtube.
I don't believe in supporting a movement that has goals and ideas which I fundamentally disagree with, despite the fact that they're opposing another group that I disagree with just the same.
It's also important to remember that the protests are based on two primary issues;
1. A rigged election.
2. The violent response from the government which aggravated the situation.
The protests have NOTHING TO DO with changing the TYPE of government in Iran. These are reactionary demonstrations. They've nothing to do with reforming Iran into something other than an Islamic republic.
Agreed as to the sparks for these protests, it speaks neither in favor or against the generalization with which I have a qualm. The support of a theocracy is not the only viewpoint, however it is the only viewpoint which is allowed to be publicly stated. 30 years of subjugation and violence against those who said publicly otherwise will absolutely affect public discourse. Which is why I mention the historical secular movements pre-revolution as the source for my disagreement.
History always exists, but I know what you mean :)
Past secular movements are another topic. Supporting the current movement does not entail ending oppression in Iran because it does not oppose the ideology of an Islamic Republic.
My default position is that Islamic Republics are oppressive. Considering that the CURRENT movement is not about dissolving the Islamic Republic, I cannot understand supporting the movement as a statement against oppression in general.
I'm only opposing your generalization that a theocracy is what the nation wants as a whole. I believe the majority want that, but there is also a large silent minority who want secular government but remember the killings that occurred during and after the revolution against those perceived to be godless communists or anti-muslim capitalists.
We barely disagree except to the degree with which we believe a secular government is wanted.
I think we both understand that the current protests are not anti-theocratic in nature, because the secular movement is silent. Agreed.
So looking at it this way, there is only one thing we can disagree upon; whether or not to support the current movement. Either way is a matter of choice and opinion.
In that regard, where did supporting the Mujahadeen against the Russians get us?
spleenblender, those who you refer to (at the time of the revolution) as "godless Communists or anti-capitalists" were more anti-western than ayatollah khomeini. He initially, placed a left wing secularist president before he was ousted by the revolutionary guard with implicit support from the USA.
I totally support freedom. I just don't see what freedom will obtain Iran but another lunatic that will run the country into the ground... Don't fire the drummer until you have a better one.
Thats like saying we should have let [insert terrible leader's name here] to keep ruling. A good example: Back in the revolutionary war, did we have a leader ready to go when we told king george III to fuck off? no, and infact anyone we did have ready to go, interms of leaders, sucked as our first govt completely failed. It wasnt until after we had won our own freedom that we sat down and created a stable govt and we the people chose our own "rulers" for lack of a better word.
Maybe.. maybe.. But then again, we are living in an age where communication is just a bit better than racing from town to town on horseback and hanging lamps in church towers.
Iran seems to have a fairly competent opposition, and a fully developed infrastructure. This is not Iraq. Let's hope the US doesn't invade and fire everyone like they did in Iraq.
I have been saying that forever. I support the Iranian people so they get what they want but US is NOT part of this struggle and should just stay out.
I think with the new developments, US will be too busy bombing Yemen anyways.
Everyday I see this now and I can't get used to it.. such brave people to go out in the streets.. I feel so heartbroken for them. These people are not my enemy..
You are funded by the CIA in order to bring down the Iranian regime which is one of the only countries that speaks out against Israel and American aggressions in the Middle East.
what is the evidence of CIA supporting Mousavi supporters???the true aggressors are the loyalist of ahmadinejad and his corrupt imperialist islamic republic...watching this rallyist die will only is one of the factors for the downfall of ahmadinejad
There are plenty of articles about the Bush administration (specifically Condaleezza Rice) giving millions to promote "democracy" in Iran. Even Obama gave 15 million to the opposition.
Please look up: "U.S. grants support to Iranian dissidents". - USA Today
How do you seriouly suppose the CIA are funding these common people? Would you say they are spending millions on green cloth? Also censorship is factor. How do you think that the CIA could influence the Iranian people?
They got what they wanted an Islamic republic based on intolerance and hatred of everything we in the west stand for. What did they expect. DEATH TO ISLAM.
What does it mean to "support" the Iranian people? What does "support" accomplish? It makes us on the outside feel like we are doing something, but meanwhile the slaughter continues.
with all due respect, they brought it on themselves by preferring a govenment of religious looneys over a pro-western king (Shah).
True, both are not democracy, but at least the Shah was not a fucking maniac who supports Islamic terrorism world wide !
The Iranian people are the ones who chose Khomeini after overthrowing the Shah. Why didn't they choose democracy? Do they really think that the Islamic extremists who are in power really care what the public wants?
Remember that you are talking about a different generation. The younger generation (a majority of the population) did not ask for nor do they want the current Islamic extremist government put in place by their parents, whom I might add, many are regretful for doing so.
The Iranians of the 70's are not the Iranians of the 2000s
If the American Conservatives have their way we maybe going to war with these people. This nation is divided and within the United States the forces that led us to war in Iraq hunger for war in Iran and Somalia and now Nigeria. They want us to invade more nations. They see it as our imperial imperative for America's survival. I cannot imagine how we can help them with the evils of this world dividing us so...
You people keep wondering why you should care or support the Iranian people. One of my favorite quotes sums it up...
"They came for the communist, and I said nothing because I am not communist. Then they came for the Jew, and I said nothing because I am not a Jew. Then they came for the liberal, and I said nothing because I am not a liberal...
... then they came for me, and there was no one left to protect me."
Yes America is to blame for everything, the death of jesus, the plague, the crusades, world war one, the holocaust, 9/11 and global warming, its all CIA´s fault.
Im so honored to be in the presence of people like you, arseycherson.
(yes i was being sarcastic, you are a true idiot, BTW)

No no just nuke them all! Islam needs to eat a nuke. The only way for world peace, get rid of them. There will be no peace with these assholes, best bet just kill them all. That is what they want to do to us, so lets kill them all first. Just saying what we are thinking ( not our obama govt).
The Palistinians are the ones who need our help, not so much the Iranians. Iran won't attack anyone unless they're assaulted by israel, and you had best care for the propaganda that's coming through the media of any region...
Ummmm, I really think that nearly no one is worried here about the Iranians attacking them. You don't seem to understand what the whole issue here is, do you?
Well, you guys are worried about an "aggressive regime" right? Or could this... oh my, you still think we have the moral superiority to storm into another country to 'liberate' it? Do you think we have the journalistic integrity in our own countries let alone viewing into another to actually stand on your claims with anything but faith?
So now you're "you guys" rather than "our help" - a good fence sitting position. What does some hypothetical invasion of Iran have to do with this video or its message? I cannot even find any journalism associate with the video. Again, you seem to be confused, an indeed, that's sad.
yeah, this seems kind of silly. how does doing the green thing help? actually, i don't give a shit. i've fucking had it with the middle east already. fuck em.
I greened, but honestly it feels like a waste of time. (it does nothing... arguably LESS than nothing, because it makes you think you have)
If they want democracy, it will come eventually. How soon depends on how they act, who the currently leader is, which countries support the change, and which don't.
Honestly, they could be democratic by this time next year, or not for another century or more. The good thing is that the people want change. You can only suppress that for so long.
I'm sorry, but what is this again? How are people on the internet going to change anything especially if you don't want anything from me, i'm sipouse to think about it, write a comment and feel better about myself?
BTW showing people hurt is really cheap, not going into any political stuff here, who's wrong or right, but if you go into streets and act violently, then this is what'll happen.
What exactly will a bunch of people on the internet turning their channel icons green achieve? O.o... im usually in support of things like this, but chances are the iranians will never even know we did it...
Military intervention would be a very bad move. Better let nature take it's course. The young demographics in Iran will naturally lead to the overturning of the regime - but that doesn't happen entirely on it's own. People have to go out and protest and get beaten up and shot at. It will be a bad day when they stop doing that, and that's why they need moral support. More than moral support and you let the govt there off the hook, as they can call it interference.
Dude who are YOU kidding? Youtubers wont fund your dumbassguns, no one will. Their to lazy some maybe lazier then yourself. And showing you care only inpire's those who fight the fight, give them weapons and that gouverrment really has a cause to go to war.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Are you kidding me, really are you kidding me? Those protesters need guns, not moral support. They need funding, guns, and training, not youtubers changing their icon green, AND it is oppressed, not repressed!! Moral support does no good without something to back it up. The Iranian government is not going to relinquish power without a MAJOR fight. The US should back them the same way they backed the mujahideen durring the Afgan USSR war. Anything short of that will end in a loss for the people.

Both sides are Islamic and both sides want a theocratic Islamic state. They just disagree who should be running it.
The movement that is going on over there right now is a collective movement. It can certainly be generalized.
malignantpoodle 2 years ago
@malignantpoodle You know nothing of the history of Iranian political movements pre-revolution. Your arrogance is just laughable. Please don't reproduce, it'd be the best for humanity.
spleenblender 2 years ago
Ah I see, you've no idea what you're talking about, so just be insulting.
Spoken like a true creationist.
In case you didn't notice, SEVERAL other people here are saying the same thing.
malignantpoodle 2 years ago
@malignantpoodle I'm a creationist? How'd you determine that one. It couldn't be further from the truth.
Fact of the matter is there was a vibrant support for secular government pre-revolution. It was stifled and oppressed by the religious thugs, but to say that the COUNTRY wants a theocracy as a whole is grossly inaccurate. Now, again, I reassert my plea for you to not reproduce.
spleenblender 2 years ago
Just don't get it do ya?
As soon as you met disagreement, you got personal, and remain with personal attacks. That's acting just like a creationist. I said it was spoken like a creationist. I did not say you were a creationist.
For someone that struggles with basic English, I doubt that you seriously understand foreign issues discussed on an English based venue.
Iran has been one of the most stable Islamic republics in the world. What you say is simply not true, sorry.
malignantpoodle 2 years ago
So it's your assertion then that the opposition does not want an Islamic Republic?
Your assertion means that YOU are generalizing the opposition as being based on overthrowing Iran and forming it as something other than an Islamic Republic?
You're wrong. Sorry.
malignantpoodle 2 years ago
Again: your generalization of the desires of the population of Iran to live in a theocracy is patently false. It is an arrogant and ignorant statement which makes me view you with disdain since your statement implies they are somehow fundamentally different people. When in reality they have an abundance of varying viewpoints just like any other culture in the world. To ignore historical fact regarding pre-revolution political movements who were also fighting against the Shah is stupid.
spleenblender 2 years ago
Sure, individuals can have a different political views. You don't seem to understand very well; I'm not saying that every single Iranian feels exactly the same way.
But the COLLECTIVE MOVEMENT over there RIGHT NOW is not one based on fundamental political change; the collective movement supports Islamic theocracy.
As such, supporting the popular movement in Iran today is simply to oppose the current leaders of Iran. It has nothing to do with establishing a progressive society.
malignantpoodle 2 years ago
A lot of people here are saying the same thing. Most people know this. Your disdain for me and creationist attitude are based on nothing else than your dogmatic following of some of the top atheists on youtube.
I don't believe in supporting a movement that has goals and ideas which I fundamentally disagree with, despite the fact that they're opposing another group that I disagree with just the same.
malignantpoodle 2 years ago
It's also important to remember that the protests are based on two primary issues;
1. A rigged election.
2. The violent response from the government which aggravated the situation.
The protests have NOTHING TO DO with changing the TYPE of government in Iran. These are reactionary demonstrations. They've nothing to do with reforming Iran into something other than an Islamic republic.
malignantpoodle 2 years ago
Agreed as to the sparks for these protests, it speaks neither in favor or against the generalization with which I have a qualm. The support of a theocracy is not the only viewpoint, however it is the only viewpoint which is allowed to be publicly stated. 30 years of subjugation and violence against those who said publicly otherwise will absolutely affect public discourse. Which is why I mention the historical secular movements pre-revolution as the source for my disagreement.
spleenblender 2 years ago
The official demands of the movement have been issued. I've sent them in a PM.
None of them entail opposition to the ideology of an Islamic Republic.
IF the protesters get EVERYTHING that they want, Iran remains an Islamic Republic, and no Islamic Republic exists without oppression.
malignantpoodle 2 years ago
30 years of subjugation and violence against those who said publicly otherwise will absolutely affect public discourse.
History of secular movements in that country still exist.
spleenblender 2 years ago
History always exists, but I know what you mean :)
Past secular movements are another topic. Supporting the current movement does not entail ending oppression in Iran because it does not oppose the ideology of an Islamic Republic.
My default position is that Islamic Republics are oppressive. Considering that the CURRENT movement is not about dissolving the Islamic Republic, I cannot understand supporting the movement as a statement against oppression in general.
malignantpoodle 2 years ago
I'm only opposing your generalization that a theocracy is what the nation wants as a whole. I believe the majority want that, but there is also a large silent minority who want secular government but remember the killings that occurred during and after the revolution against those perceived to be godless communists or anti-muslim capitalists.
We barely disagree except to the degree with which we believe a secular government is wanted.
spleenblender 2 years ago
Well then we don't really disagree at all.
You say that majority want theocracy. Agreed.
I think we both understand that the current protests are not anti-theocratic in nature, because the secular movement is silent. Agreed.
So looking at it this way, there is only one thing we can disagree upon; whether or not to support the current movement. Either way is a matter of choice and opinion.
In that regard, where did supporting the Mujahadeen against the Russians get us?
malignantpoodle 2 years ago
Blowback's a bitch.
spleenblender 2 years ago
spleenblender, those who you refer to (at the time of the revolution) as "godless Communists or anti-capitalists" were more anti-western than ayatollah khomeini. He initially, placed a left wing secularist president before he was ousted by the revolutionary guard with implicit support from the USA.
gzX9bVq6k 2 years ago
They were more anti-western, but they were secular as well. The arrogance of the west is to assume it is the ideal, in my opinion.

Tehceilingkitteh 2 years ago
Maybe.. maybe.. But then again, we are living in an age where communication is just a bit better than racing from town to town on horseback and hanging lamps in church towers.
DirkTalamasca 2 years ago
true, technology has vastly improved, however the concept is still the same--- One must win said rebellion before any new leader can be put forth.
Tehceilingkitteh 2 years ago
I doubt communication can become more instant than the internet is at this point. The only obstacle is censorship.

You are funded by the CIA in order to bring down the Iranian regime which is one of the only countries that speaks out against Israel and American aggressions in the Middle East.

what is the evidence of CIA supporting Mousavi supporters???the true aggressors are the loyalist of ahmadinejad and his corrupt imperialist islamic republic...watching this rallyist die will only is one of the factors for the downfall of ahmadinejad
guyaddictive 2 years ago
@guyaddictive You want evidence?
There are plenty of articles about the Bush administration (specifically Condaleezza Rice) giving millions to promote "democracy" in Iran. Even Obama gave 15 million to the opposition.
Please look up: "U.S. grants support to Iranian dissidents". - USA Today
A lot of it is listed there.
Longlivepalestine 2 years ago
How do you seriouly suppose the CIA are funding these common people? Would you say they are spending millions on green cloth? Also censorship is factor. How do you think that the CIA could influence the Iranian people?

with all due respect, they brought it on themselves by preferring a govenment of religious looneys over a pro-western king (Shah).
Zygorhiza 2 years ago 3
Yep this is true, but perhaps we can help them fix their stupid mistake,(no matter how shortlived the fix turns out to be).

Remember that you are talking about a different generation. The younger generation (a majority of the population) did not ask for nor do they want the current Islamic extremist government put in place by their parents, whom I might add, many are regretful for doing so.

The Palistinians are the ones who need our help, not so much the Iranians. Iran won't attack anyone unless they're assaulted by israel, and you had best care for the propaganda that's coming through the media of any region...
Not very reasonable.

Ummmm, I really think that nearly no one is worried here about the Iranians attacking them. You don't seem to understand what the whole issue here is, do you?
puncheex 2 years ago
Well, you guys are worried about an "aggressive regime" right? Or could this... oh my, you still think we have the moral superiority to storm into another country to 'liberate' it? Do you think we have the journalistic integrity in our own countries let alone viewing into another to actually stand on your claims with anything but faith?
This is almost sad..
Niocan 2 years ago
So now you're "you guys" rather than "our help" - a good fence sitting position. What does some hypothetical invasion of Iran have to do with this video or its message? I cannot even find any journalism associate with the video. Again, you seem to be confused, an indeed, that's sad.

JackWisps 2 years ago 5
I'm sorry, but what is this again? How are people on the internet going to change anything especially if you don't want anything from me, i'm sipouse to think about it, write a comment and feel better about myself?

Military intervention would be a very bad move. Better let nature take it's course. The young demographics in Iran will naturally lead to the overturning of the regime - but that doesn't happen entirely on it's own. People have to go out and protest and get beaten up and shot at. It will be a bad day when they stop doing that, and that's why they need moral support. More than moral support and you let the govt there off the hook, as they can call it interference.
