@PCTechTalks Someone else said it only uses 50 watts but i think it did say it requires atleast 350 watts do you know if my comp. says DC OUTPUT: 350 watts do you think thats the total
@PCTechTalks How would i know if i have 18 amps on the 12v rail??
Sorry for asking these questions but this is my first time getting a GPU and i dont want to come home with something that my computer cant handle. Hope its not a bother to you but thanks for responding anyway.
@WestCal1998 to check how much amps your PSU can deliver you will need to go inside your case. first step is to take of your side panel and ground yourself. you can ground yourself by touching any metal component on the PSU while it is plugged in and on the "OFF" position.
@WestCal1998 there should be a sticker on the PSU that will tell you your PSU specifications. You might have to take off both side panels in order to get access to the sticker.
@gtasanandreas162 its actually pretty decent for the money. i can play most games on medium settings but i don't use it anymore for gaming. i converted it to an HTPC system and it performs exceptionally well. i do use a radeon 6850, phenom ii x4 @4ghz, 4gb ddr3 ram, 1 tb hdd now and it is beast :D
@ToonFreak559 this card isnt really a gaming video card, i would recommend spending the extra 20$ and getting a 9800gt. the 9800gt has double the bandwidth of this card which is 56.7GB/S so it is A LOT faster plus it overclocks even better. for the CPU i would go with a current i7 9xx if you have money to burn but if you are on a budget i would get he AMD phenom ii x2 965 quad core CPU. overall the intel series will win in most benchmarks but the AMD 965 is a better performance per dollar CPU.
can someone tell me if this is better than ati radeon hd 4300, please someone who actually knows their graphics card, not some stereotypical moron who thinks every single video card of nvidia is the same, the same for ati.
@MrNicktheparakeet the radeon 4300 is a 64 bit 256mb low end video card. it performs fairly poor in 3d mark vantage and most game benchmarks. it is meant to be only an htpc solution for HD media and not gaming. the 9500gt is a 128/256 bit 1gb/512mb (depends on which model you get) card that is a mainstream video card. it is fairly good for the casual gamer. if you like playing less graphically intesive games such as cod 4, wow, etc...than this is the card for you. 9500gt > 4300 series.
@RyanK733 oh lol i know but i just wanted to make a test video. i will be reviewing the parts in my new rig soon. 5870, phenom x6, g skill flare mem and lots of goodies.
whats the power supply needed to have this. mine is 300 watts????
BlitzSoccerPL 2 months ago
@BlitzSoccerPL a 350watts PSU is minimum requirement so i dont think your 300watt will cut it =/

@WestCal1998 as long as you have 18amps on the +12v rail and atleast 350watts, you should be able to power this card without any problems.

@PCTechTalks Ok thanks and one last question does it matter if i use the GeForce 9500 Gt on a pci-e x 16 1.0 slot? since the GPU is pci-e 2.0 right.
WestCal1998 1 month ago
@PCTechTalks Ok my PSU specifications state that my 12VA has 12 amps max
and that my 12VB has 18 amps max... is that good??
WestCal1998 1 month ago
@WestCal1998 yes that is enough to power the 9500gt.
PCTechTalks 1 month ago
what kind of power does it use? i mean 4 pin or 6 pin. and if 6 pin, how many do you need?
TheCheeseWeel 3 months ago
@TheCheeseWeel it doesn't use any sort of external power connector. all the power is drawn through the PCI-Ex16 slot.

So i have an Optiplex GX280 SFF and i was wondering if this would fit seeing that those computers can only fit half the size of regular cards.
