@dvonrock Yes it is in Dutch colours, Anthony Fokker managed to smuggle some DVII to the Netherlands by train after WW1. The Dutch Airforce, Luchtvaartafdeling bought 20 of them.
Yes, it led to a short "second Fokker scourge" in 1918. Fortunately for the Entente they had way more aircraft of all types at their disposal than the Germans had.
I just want to add that the German fighter pilots were lacking aggressiveness in 1918 , even with the Fokker D VII, ( rarely patrolling beyond the frontline, big circuses engaging only whith huge numerical superiority). The Entente lost much more planes due to ground fire when straffing and bombing.
Thanks. Though some people like to deny it, the Entente had more men and resources at their disposal and there's no way the Central Powers could have won the war even without the americans joining the fight. Germany's home front was practically in a state of revolution and once the troops returned home after the armistice they had their hands full.
I think that by early 1918 Germany had lost a lot of experience pilots too and many of their aces were dead, including the Red Baron.
He starts the Mercedes engine by releasing compression via a lever, then he draws fuel into the cylinders by pulling the prop thru. Then, he positions the prop so it is set to fire on the compression of cylinder number one. Then, he jumps into the cockpit, spins the starter magneto, which showers sparks into Number One Cylinder, and, presto, it fires. No Starter.
Hey thanks for the voting lol. I just thought that the barracks "hollow" and distort the sound a bit, just some constructive critics for the next video - 'k ?
It good to see a video like this with no dislikes :) Truly wonderful plane! Fokker FTW!!! <3

If you listen carefully you can hear him spooling up the starter.

Hmmmm. That's surprising. Must be something added during the restoration?

I was surprised to see him jump in and start the thing from the cockpit. I was expecting a prop-start. What does this thing use for a starter?

Hey MrWhatname,
I'm sure you believe you're offering "constructive criticism", but trust me: Nobody cares what you think of the sound.

Great to see a video with sound at all though !

The video is a engine test run we didn't intend to make a perfect movie or soundtrack we only wanted to record the starting procedure.
If anyone wants a better soundtrack there welcome to visit us and make a recording.

Thanks for showing the video - but the sound/noise is completely twisted and warped by the echoes from the hangar behind the observer .
