  • Whats wrong with making ugly people pretty?

  • @GoldyVids Whats wrong!!!! Photoshoping a picture making somebody who's "ugly" into somebody who's "pretty" is really wrong! Do you really know what real beauty is? Its being the one you are, and telling some people in society that they are ugly is wrong because that is not true!!!! How would you feel if somebody took a picture of you and photoshoped it and you saw it afterwards? What photoshoping and using too much makeup does is telling us that we are not good enough! Think about that!

  • @Littlesims2nerd I'm a graphic designer, and every single day I take the zits off people, reshape their nose, and raise their eyebrows. I photoshop my own pictures all the time. The only thing wrong with society is McDonalds for all I know...

  • @GoldyVids Then you must know a lot about how desorted our picture of beauty is. I cant understand how photoshoping a picture of your self gives you more selfasteem. Since you are a grafic designer you must know better than enyone how bad it is. With a picture you can tell a lie, but the mirror does not lie to you and when mostly girls and boys start comparing a lie to what you see in the mirror the result is: eating disorders, low selfasteem, plastic surgery... How can that not be bad?

  • @Littlesims2nerd I love plastic surgery im like 90% plastic I can't step out side in the summer or else I'll melt...

  • @GoldyVids fuck this comment

  • WTF?

  • Loved this whole program that I created PinC to host a Dove Self Esteem in my city!

  • holiday dating site # lushfmlk.info #

  • Keep worming Asian girls # lushfmlk.info #

  • Join and use the site for free benaughtyman.info

  • why can't they just hire some homely-looking mexican dude off the street for $10 and shop the hell out of his face to make him into that beauty

  • this is INSANE. it creeps me out.

  • There goes your Dajjal system.....

  • What is that editing program used?

  • LOl...i never fall for these addsss....cos its all the magic of adobephotoshop! lol....ahh why dunt ppl jus eat real n be reall.....life is too short to fake..

  • amen to that

  • that was supposed to be a reply to SaNZiBLe's comment.

  • I agree with the video,

This person is not saying people don't look like this in real life they are just saying that no wonder our view of beauty is distorted look at what people are doing to advertise!

  • Yeah... I'll start spending sixty minutes in the bathroom to look like this, when guys do the same.

    Thanks.

  • nice video

  • they shouldnt have to. as u see them copying these adds. what about the other women?

  • Rght. They successfully copy these ads WITHOUT the magic of photoshop to aid them. More power to them. :P

  • Everyone, please overlook/maintain naivete about the fact that dove is owned by the parent company (Unilever) that owns Axe deodorant.

They're playing us consumers on both ends to make a little coin. But please, stay ignorant so they can maximize their money off us.

  • Apparently it's wearing cosmetics and artificial scents that is getting people laid, which has been happening ever since the conception of culture. "Ignorant" or "enlightened", nothing is going to stop people from doing whatever they have to in order to appeal to the opposite sex.

  • k what's your point. Even if they are maximizing their profit through 'moral' hypocrisy what is wrong with that.

THE COMPANIES FUNCTION OF EXISTENCE IS TO MAKE MONEY. If you don't like that just like.. i dunno, go live in the woods or something. You're probably whoring yourself to some job you hate. How is that differnt

Axe commercials are hilarious, dove commercials are empowering. Unilever has great marketers and the only reason nobody else hasn't done it is because they aren't as smart.

  • WTF does that have to do with anything.

  • It makes me angry...too

  • I love this, It's shows the truth...

  • @YuiTeub49 Only a girl with a SERIOUS problem with have low self esteem from looking at a freaking MAGAZINE!

  • Ahh, Photoshop Liquify Filter, is there anything you CAN'T be blamed for?

  • photo shoping is never new

i use to saw a magazine from like the 80s where computer is not popular, artist the photobrushing by hands.

  • yeah, well i'm hot in real life!!!

    -skunk x

  • Haha. Your pretty funny! Dunno why you got so many thumbs downs.

  • omg

    :o

  • holey shit!!

  • wt is the program to edit the face and stuff, it's soo cool

  • photoshop

  • Hubby works in the photography business-he says the fashion/beauty industry does airbrush

their models and there isn't ONE fashion magazine out there that hasn't had this done to their model on the cover.

One of the magazines about two years ago ran an article where they took two copies of a photo of a model, made over 30 changes on one of them showing what actually IS done, and yes, they added neck, cleavage and cheekbones to her, so yes, Dove is on the mark!

  • DUH. Sheesh, llpaw05 may be clueless, but every other 5 year old knows this is old news.

  • Nooossa, perfeitoo !!

  • This is a very inaccurate piece of propaganda against the beauty industry. The transformation shown here is something that doesn't actually happen. They'll choose a model they like the look of to start with and the photoshopping subsequently done will not change the basic structure of the model's face.

  • thts extremly not true, wat there doing is giving everyone these beautiful models, and everyone sets there expectations for themself tht high. expect thses arent even real people, no one can reely look like those models you c in the magazines

  • I'm afraid you're mistaken. People do look like the models you see in magazines. If you've ever been to a fashion shoot, you'll see they choose a very particular type of model. The fashion industry does present us with quite an unattainable notion of beauty, in that very few people can look like catwalk models, and many catwalk models lead unhealthy lifestyles to look like they do.

  • But I'm afraid Dove's campaign is deceptive - that doesn't happen. I have been behind the scenes at Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and Elle, and yes there is photoshopping, but NOTHING like this

  • and even so do u not see the pressures women must face from any add today. to be thin, wear makeup have long hair perfection!

  • Pressures? All you have to do is look and act a certain way and you can get virtually whatever you want. :S But what do guys have to do to get the attention of women? So far no one has been able to come up with a 100% concrete answer to that question.

  • wow.. this is amazing

  • Thank you for showing us that the truly evil people in this world aren't the Hitler's or Idi Amin's but the people who make women more beautiful than they actually are using Photoshop.

  • O.k, true, airbrushing helps alot, NOW, look up something that cannot be achieved by airbrushing,

    ADRIANA LIMA!!!!!

  • so now we are getting to the pot - now, I didn't know about the aliG show - not that common in Germany - sorry for those borders - the rest: full agreement.

If my GF came home with pumped braest i would wonder whether the misses some selfconfidence - and I'd ask myself whether i can be w/someone unable to "keep real" - bitch ;)

  • For example, when you work out and subsequently actually ARE muscular, it is very different from not being muscular and wearing jackets with "PADDED" shoulders. OK? I am talking about being what you are and not pretending to be what you aren't.

  • uhmhm, I-s just wondering, whether it is necessary to express this in that way - may harm people.. me eg has to use some Make up because scarves from a skin disease piss me off - this has nothing to do with lying but making myself feel comfortable with what I got - and what I am now... I'd rather look at something beautiful if I was to decide, how about you?

  • 1) I thought you knew - "keep it real" and "bitch" is a joke from the "Indahouse" movie by Ali-G. He used that to contrast stuff for fun - e.g. "what a sexist way to talk to these bitches". 2) I understand that there are some justified uses of make up. I am not talking about make up that will make people stop laughing/looking strangely at a person, I am talking about make up that is intended to enhance a person's look beyond standard appearance.

  • Like silicon breast implants - you can have them to create breasts, where there were "none" or you can have them to ridiculously increase the size of regular breasts that were fine in the first place. Those differences I am talking about. E.g. my wife has nearly no breasts (especially according to HER opinion), but if she ever gets implants, I won't even touch her EVER again. I like HER, not some piece of material...

  • I am happy I am not a woman. I don't use make up of any kind, I am semi-bald, and I wear whatever comes under my hands. :) I am myself, not a parody/caricature of myself. GET REAL and KEEP IT REAL, B*TCHES!

  • what does "keep it real" exactly mean? calling people bitches? -- must be yourself - hm?

  • I don't call people bitches, I call bitches bitches. :) What I mean is when someone DEPENDS on his/her artificial looks, he/she loses her human substance and becomes a mere object - a dick or a bitch. Make up etc. is a lie - life in denial of the truth. That's what keep it real means...

  • Pazzesco!

  • stupid morans all of you should bem uglyer than devil

  • It scares me. This person ending on the billboard doesn't even excist

  • Bedautiful but scary,a real eyeopener.

Is it wrong to want to see myself on a photo after a drastic photoshop-job?

    I don't know....

  • è incredibile!

  • unbelivable

  • this makes me feel better about myself :]

  • I can't stand ugly people who whine about being ugly.

  • NICE

  • w w w . m y s p a c e . c o m /operationclass

  • I want that piano piece!!!!!!!!!! ANYONE KNOWS IT ???

  • omg

  • Lovely video. It really blew me away.

Does anyone know what that piano piece was?

  • see NOONE is perfect,it's just computers that make it that way.

  • wow

  • This is probably the most eye-opening thing I have EVER seen!

  • yeah. this is a good message though.

take my little sister for example,

she's beautiful without being done-up but i see her every morning pile on makeup.

some girls need to realize is they're probably already pretty and by following example what they're doing is making themselves pretty skanky.

personally i find the after picture to look like a fake/non-womanly and the before and beginning attractive

  • her eyes are like bratz's eyes. haha she is plain ridiculous

  • They made her eyes too big.

  • Holy shit.. u know about photoshopping.. but honestly i never would have guessed that they raised necks and played with eye sizes.. how do they know that that is beautiful?? Really though?

  • They don't KNOW that is beautiful. They tell us that is beautiful.

  • WHATS THE MUSIC CALLED?? ill give u 3 cheese burgers if u tell me plz

  • i want to know too!! cheezzzzburgers

  • Unfortunately, the fashion industry have now started targetting men too, so now men and women all have to look as if we've been photoshopped. No wonder cosmetic surgery is booming, and depression rates.

  • this campaign for real beauty is really sweet and thoughtful. real women are not like in magazines thats true, its awesome they are supporting this and showing that the women there are not real.

but dove is part of the company UNILEVER, which still does animal tests. they should try working on that too. save girls from anorexia as animals from their pain

  • i just love the music though, and i wish i could photoshop my face in real life

  • Dove has "purchased" the argument for embracing women for who they are, regardless of how they look. The problem is that Dove is still pitching us a product to make ourselves look better. This whole self esteem fund is really amazing! For all that's been written about how advertisers play to our insecureties to sell us things we don't need, Dove has really responded in a clever way!

  • Great video!

  • what music is this? ANYONE know?

  • very eye-opening...

  • nothing we didn't know.

  • Cansei de ver retoques (dos mais variados tipos e finalidades) na empresa onde eu trabalhava.

Esse é o mundo de hoje. Artificial.

  • The point of this is just to show that people are beautiful no matter what; that billboards, magazines and pictures like the end one are misleading, which causes girls to feel inadequate about themselves. It is in no way promoting any type of photoshop, or trying to diss anyone in the process. It just wants to change the perception of beauty; so that girls can feel okay with themselves rather than try or striving to change how they look.

  • i hate supermodels...

  • If people are dumb enough to not realise the fact that everything is photoshopped and then get upset over it then serves them right IMHO

  • Because EVERYONE knows just how that's done? Um... no, they don't.

  • shut up

  • jo-der!

  • INCREIBLEMENTE BUENO Y CIERTO!!! muy IMPACTANTE!!MUCHISIMO!!!pienso recomendarselo a todo el mundo.. ensiero

  • I want to learn to do photoshop like that!

  • Of course it's a sales pitch. However, the idea is not to emotionally manipulate (at no point do they say 'we'll make you beautiful whatever you look like', they simply say 'we're gonna show you real women who use our stuff, take it or leave it') to promote the idea that it's unhealthy to expect one product to make you look like some photo manipulated fake godess all the other ads these days show. A 'Dove won't make you beautiful, but it'll accept you for what you are' kinda thing.

  • Pretty ironic that Dove are banging on about this real beauty compaign while they are selling fake tan to women in abundance.

  • I had made a research and i've descovered that they used Corel Draw for Mac...

  • hmm.. shows good looking people from the media don't actually exist

  • -claps-

  • just shows anyone can be a model!

  • amazing. ^-^

  • My Teacher told us to scearh this up, My god, some people, can't they acsept people even if they're not 'beautyful'? Now I konw why some guys are suc Asses!

  • Sweetheart usually other women are the harshest critics of each other.

  • Great vid.

  • What software did they use? I'm using Photoshop for over 3-4 years...it isn't Photoshop

  • Could be whatever Macromedia had as the Photoshop competitor, or could be just a generic invented interface for the sake of creating the video.

  • it IS photoshop, dear, but it's a MAC window, not a PC.

  • why are we receiving a public service announcement from a company that's trying to sell us something?? yes, dove should be lauded for being so much more intelligent than their compettition, but really, are they that much better? this is just another, albeit good and easier to swallow, emotionally manipulative SALES PITCH.

  • thats a fairly cynical point of view. finally here's a corporation actually using their advertising dollars to (yes, promote their product) but also promote a positive message to the community. kudos to them!

  • I agree!!!!

Furthermore, all their products are just chemical cocktails for our body. Everything we put on to our skin is absorbed into our bloodstream, so chemicals such as Propylene Glycol (used in their products)can cause liver abnormalities and kidney damage. Doves campaign may be trying to increase the self esteem of women in today's society, but we wouldn't be feeling to flash hot about ourselves if we are in the waiting room at the hospital for a new kidney now would we?

  • I think she looked pretty damn good after the makeup but before the photoshop.

  • this was made in toronto =)

  • I can understand how Photoshop alterations of appearance can skew perceptions and create unatainable beauty standards, but the majority of this video showed the change in appearance (many would say improvement) resulting from hairstyling and the application of makeup. Are women supposed to feel bad about styling their hair and using makeup? Does that result in an unattainable, skewed standard of beauty?

  • The fact that the majority of the video showed the changes as accomplished through styling and makeup is misleading. The changes accomplished with Photoshop were much more drastic. Some would be IMPOSSIBLE to do with styling and makeup.

What if the people who edited the video had sped up the styling segment even more (thus taking up less of the overall time), and slowed down the footage of the computer enhancements? Would you still make the same point?

  • It is obvious that changes achieved through Photoshop could not be achieved through styling and makeup. The Photoshop enhancements ARE drastic and unatainable. But, do you think the time they spent on styling and makeup was an accident? Every second of a PSA/advertisement is presented for a reason. If they had sped up the styling segment and slowed the Photoshop, I would not make the same point--because THEY wouldn't be making the same point.

  • No wonder women are so self conscious. We are living in a world where we are expected to achieve the unachievable with regards to beauty.

Unfortunately, I believe that this helps explain why there are so many girls/women with eating disorders. How sad.

  • Great video, really shows how much trickery there is out there. Couldn't have said it better then Valkem!

  • This is just creepy... Great video!

  • we live in a photoshopped world...

    viewed through a camera lens

  • That's orrible! This is waht they want to give us!! Bleach!

  • So like this work shop, will they take my girlfriend and make her look better?

Just kidding, I think this is a really good thing to show our kids, I don't want my little girl thinking she's not perfect because she doesn't look like the people on magazine covers. Specially when those people don't look like that anyway.

  • That's some kick ass photoshop work..!

  • Yeah, she looked a million times better afterwards.

But, wouldn't it have been easier to start with a cuter girl.

  • She is a beautiful girl!!!

Thats the whole point of the video - that our perceptions are skewed!

  • they are good..
