fantastic light show you really know your stuff .i bet theres some money worth of lights there ..how long and how meny guys does it take to set up a gig like this one ..looks really from here ..
I am a DJ and not a concert lighting tech. but i absolutely love DMX/intelligent lighting. from very little that i do know about the lighting, i am guessing these are just tones of scenes triggered at the right time. now wat i am wondering is... is there a guy sitting there hitting the button/screen on his desk to create this effect or there is some kind of an automated FX. i feel like it cant be automatic but then gain this guy would ahve to know the Song is thta wat it is? how does this work
@DaMenaCe3 hi mate, ill reply as no one else has :) basicly could be done by cues which are pre programed scenes all the opp has to do is hit the go button when needed . or there is a time code, this takes a while. basicly program it all in and the desk or computer will run it and automaticly trigger each cue when needed. mostly in live shows (large) and depending on the desk, you set up layerd scenes and trigger the odd effect or huge shows (Stadums) use time code. Hope this helps
dude im not sure if anyone noticed this. buh i caught a timing mistake in ur programming. exactly at 1:17 all the lights are faded out and one of them is still on. LOL just thought id point that out, no biggie tho. great work keep it up
yea i noticed that to lol....but it was probably a slow shutter response....with all those moving heads it was bound to happen once duing this show...happens to me sometimes to LOL good eye :)
1200w, but in this day n age, wattage isn't much of a bench mark! Its just like sound.. its not about the input power/power required, its the efficiency of the device, in this case its how much of the light the lamp outputs, gets out the front, in a focused fashion, via the optics system inside.
Where could you get a job as a lighting effects technician? Where you can manipulate the lights to the music for concerts and such? Im really fucking interested in it
Good luck getting any work as a newbie though.. Tends to take a few years before you get onto proper jobs as anything other than a box pusher! Sorry.. the showbiz ladders a long one im afraid.
i started doing intelligent lighting with live concerts about 3 years ago.....you have to start out by getting your own equiptment or renting shit and start by asking your local bands if they need a light guy! thats probably the best way to learn and advace into the large scale world of concert lighting. GOOD LUCK!
In this clip you really can see how both are required to get the final effect. The lighting is not that great with out the music, the music is greatly inhansed with the lighting. But the final effect requires both the skills in music and the skills in lighting. Great work !

punkrfella2 2 years ago 2
lighting designer = you choose what the lights are going to look like, and positions, etc.
lighting programmer = you make the lights do what the designer wants them to do.
or you can be both which is pretty good.
you can do it freelance or work for a company, search on the internet for jobs in your local area
cjmitz 2 years ago
right on, thanks!
