@Valientlink Im gaining on ya bro....using mark starting out at the cabin just above the west lake entrance, ive just recorded my first under 4 minute game at..you guessed it...3:59!!! LOL So it looks like im gonna be doing alot of resetting to get mark to start out at that cabin! And like I said...im gainin on ya!! Actually, i should start doing this on my emulator, that way i can record. Cuz God forbid i beat your time and dont have proof, i will be PISSED!!!

Not that far from beating Phil´s TAS!

It´s very hard to beat it though, especially since his time still can be improved and that it is played frame by frame...impossible to beat.

I did some testing and found it impossible to beat my own TAS by playing on normal speed and w/h save states.

Frame by Frame is just too powerful.

My fastest time is 3:06 which I have yet to add. I have noticed something in Phil's run that is nearly impossible to pull off even WITH savestates.

The first encounter on day 1 that Phil has, I have never been able to match that. Jason appears very quickly, Phil just walks up to the cabin, kills the zombie, moves forward, and Jason appears. I always get a 2nd zombie to appear after I kill the 1st one. If I could fix this I could probably get 3:04

Yeah that part is annoying, i also get a 2nd zombie to appear on a normal game play.

When i play it frame by frame and use save states to manipulate how the zombies appear, then i can get Jason to appear instead.

It´s a very tricky part, and i dont know how to do it without save states and frame advance cos everything must be accurate.

I have not played this game for almost 6 months now, or even more.

But it would be fun to get at it again!

a lot of that is luck. it took me at least 5 minutes to get that torch from the cabin in the lake. thats crazy how you knew exactly where hes going to be. my best time beating this is 15 minutes about

How is this possible? I beat this game too, but I had to light all the fireplaces before getting the torch? How do you get the torch without lighting all the fireplaces? Is there a glitch, because I'm pretty sure the prerequisite to getting the torch & flashlight is lighting all the fireplaces.

Nice job though. I didn't bother dodging Jason the 3rd time I beat him either since he's too fast.

He used some kind of glitch on Day 2 when he was fighting Jason, b/c he had no life, then got hit, and stilll was living.

Unless those potions automatically get used or something.

You got that right, the potions do revive you a little. I guess you could count Jason running right back into you after leaving the screen a programming error, but it only happens if you are in the right position i.e close enough to the edge.

The run officially ends right when mark throws the last torch, even if it hasnt' hit jason.

no, i'd say it ends when the final torch hits Jason, that's when he is defeated, it was at 3:10.37, still very, very good speed-wise though, but try playing it for real, not just by taking advantage of game glitches, that is the true measure of video game skill, not what nerd knows the most cheat codes and glitches to take advantge of

I didn't use cheats though. It isn't when it hits jason, it's immediately when the final torch leaves your hand. I didn't use glitches either.

You can beat the game the fast method if you follow the same pattern all the speed-runners do. It's on gamefaqs. It's just a matter of luck in getting Jason to pop up right after a cabin fight depending if you go left or right.

Good Job! But You Note At The Beginning Semi Wrong. You Use The Lighter To Light All The Fire Places At The Beginning But Then You Get The Torch & Light Them Again. Only This Time When Using The Torch They Stay Lit. Also It Unlocks A Secret If I Remember Right.

On A Site Some People Complain This Game Scared Them As Kids. S**t As A Kid Growing Up In The 80s I Thought This Game Was Not Scary & Totally Awesome.

No no, the torch isn't used for the lighters. It was a typo. The torch is a weapon. I don't want to argue, because I know the algorithm of the game more than I know my own life. Now that's sad.
