Anyone that knows anything about cars knows these are nasty rides. The fastest US production car next to the corvette I believe In the 80's. I really like that It's a full size car and has a ton of room and is very comfortable. Thanks for posting and enjoy your ride.
@Devastator731 That's awesome, Jay! I didn't know that you sold the Z28, but we were still hanging out when you bought the Delorean! I know, it seems like lifetimes ago, but it's good to hear from you. Send my best to Jen!
P.S. NEVERRR in my life would I thought I'd see you refer to yourself as "From the Pool Hall," since when it closed was the happiest day of your life! lmao
@aussiedog29 haha yeah, many many people don't realize how much power grand nationls have. Can't tell you the amount of "mostly younger or forign" people that have lined up with me at a light and lost SO bad they had no idea what happened. But, I have to tell you.. 90% of the times I really beat somebody they became VERY interested in learning about what the car is.
@Sloane100 There are two really nice GNs on Ebay with low miles right now under 10k. I tried sending you the links but it's not letting me. One is an 86' with TTops and Turbo Trans Am wheels, real sharp looking. And the other is an 87' that looks all origional. good luck
@jetary No, it's cool. I wasn't offended.. AND, you happen to be right about that. Every car can easily do 65 on the Highway at less than Half throttle, but not many cars could pass 85 THAT quickly using half throttle. Be well
@jpaulick90 Yeah, I hear you. It's always nice to find something close to home so that you could drive there with a friend and look it over.. Unfortunately we're usually that lucky when looking for a limited edition or special car. You should expand your search West cause there is MUCH less of a rest problem in that direction.. but then again, I live in the far East and have found some pretty perfect cars, so you never know.
@jpaulick90 dude...ur looking for someone with a fire sale, aint going to happen. I know 15 for sale in the USA with under 10k miles...from 18k to 21k....well worth it for a MINT 87' GN
@chef423 oh trust me man I'm aware of the value of a properly maintained/restored Grand National. But the search continues for exactly what i want. I got time yet.
@jpaulick90 i will be investing in one within the next 18 mos....I plan on getting on with under 30k miles...still shud be mint if the owner knew what they had. Im sure ill drop 20k+
Belt Parkway at Sheepshead bay is always a speed trap bro. Nice ride by the way. Love the Buick Grand Nationals, and good to see one in the hands of an adult.
Thanks. We're the same age so as you know we're at the age where we really know and appreciate cars.. Of course they're still fun to race but racing and abusing are two totally different things.. The Belt Parkway between 4th ave. and 65th St. is even more of a trap now, I hardly EVER cruise past there without seeing somebody stopped by the Highway Patrol.
I used to work in Scaturro's both on stillwell and 11th ave. Your right about between 4th and 65th, As soon as i get on at 14th ave, I see them sitting there by the walkway parked in between other cars.
nice car man, i just yesterday bought a 1987 grand national i made a quick vid of it, it runs fine i drove it 42 miles home, just needs resto, also once im done with it i hope to turn into a GNX replica and definetly drop in a turbo. nice car.
haha I guess you could say I sold out but I was NEVER all about one brand, to me Domestic is Domestic and the beef should be vs. the imports not each other. I appreciate any car done right but I'LL BE BACK as you put it cause I plan on buying a Chevelle 454 SS
Looks like the Belt? Is it? I roasted a vette with my GN yesterday on the Belt. When we both got off on Ocean Parkway, he was besides himself (and dizzy).LOL
Wow........I know that it would be hard to give up my GN. I've owned one for going on 16 years now (on my second one). I've had times where they would piss me off and I'd want to sell them, but I did not. The GN will always have a part of your heart. Good luck Vinny with your new ride!
Yeah man it was REALLY hard to sell, even with my mustang getting to where I want it all Supercharged and awesome I still miss that Grand National. It was at the point where I had to use it as an everyday car and couldn't afford to work on it anymore and in the rain and everything I just thought it could use a better home right now.. BUT I will buy another one one day, I gurantee that. I want to get one already running 11's so I don't have to start all over again.
It costs nothing to let it set in your garage and increase in value. I do not drive mine at all except to start it up every once and awhile. I took the plate off mine so I would not rack up the miles on mine.
You're absolutly right and you're doing the smarter thing. I was forced to sell my everyday car and was putting too many miles on the GN.. that's why I sold it to a hopefully better owner who can keep it in shape and keep the miles down.. I had to sell so I could buy a car that I don't mind putting miles on.
the thing with GN's is that they get all depressed when u let them sit. i bet your car drives like shit. drive it more often!! (it will cure its depression)
I have serious question about your GN. Since the speedo only goes to 80 will it break if go past 80? I had a Chevy truck that only went to 90 but when I wrapped up to 110 it snaped! Do the GN's do the same?
Grand Nationals go past 80 before you even realize what happened. It's actually a joke that the speedo says 85 but that was some law in the mid-80's that all cars had to have that so you'll also see it on the Camaros, Mustangs, and Trans-Ams which could also go WAY over 85. Most people buy the GNX Speedo sticker that says 145 on it which makes a lot more sense. Just want to add that just because it goes well over 100 doesn't mean it feels stable cause of the 80's suspension. haha
Vinny, did you sell your GN? Thought I saw it on Ebay a while back. Man, if you did I hope you get back into them real soon as I had to real quick when I sold my 1st one years ago. My GN will be with me till the end!!
Yeahh it's actually gone! And yes, I'm totally upset about it but I can honestly say I felt better when I found out that who I sold it to is a real deal car guy and will fix it up and take care of it the way I just couldn't afford to anymore. I'm happy with my new car too, it's a 94 Mustang GT convertible with mild work done to it in nearly flawless condition with a real nice body-kit. I was thinking about a supercharger and now I'm thinking about a turn-key Ford Racing engine, 510hp 500lb tq
The block was bored 30.over and honed, Comp roller cam, steal forged crank, lifters, rods, rotating assembley, Thrasher Chip, 3 1/2 Down-pipe.. ect probably a lot more I'm forgetting cause I didn't finsh my coffee.
So what is your top speed? I have the stock spedo in my T-Type and I was woundering if you ever found out what your top speed was. My buddy who had an ss Monte said he got his Chevy up to about 140, so I figured the GN's have to be close to that.
Ok,so i see you got on the Belt by Knapp st. passing Plumb Beach. I figured your neighborhood cruise video is in sheepshead or around the area? How come i've never seen you around before? You may have seen my GN around B-hurst or Marine Park. My plate is S1NISTER.
Going fast but not even a half a throttle. All my asian friends said i'm the only asian that drives a muscle instead of a import. My answer: Well, got to love the Grand National.
Yeah. Thats ture. Going already fast, not even a half a throttle. Its funny when all my import asian friends say that I'm the only asian driving a muscle car. THE BUICK GRAND NATIONAL. They don't even bother racing me.
