This massive list of regulations in all racing is disgusting. And it's growing. Were about 50 years behind in all auto-technology because of bs like this.
@SICKJ0KER Why don't you get in a top fuel dragster, go full throttle down a WHOLE quarter mile, and blow yourself up like several others have done already? Thanks for your intelligent selfish comment. Duuuhhhhhhh
This is impressive but still 1000 foot sucks. In other motorsports the safety of the tracks has adapted to the cars, but in NHRA Drag Racing the spectators are short changed with 3/4 of a drag race. 3 and a half seconds is too short for a motor race. Sadly it's imposed in Europe now even at Santa Pod where there's a perfectly safe run off especially for the lower performance outside USA.
Del Worsham’s Al-Anabi Racing dragster recorded the quickest run in NHRA history today with a 3.735 at 323.81 run in the finals at the NHRA Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway but he lost by a holeshot win by Spencer Massey in the FRAM TF dragster that Cory McClenathan drove on the 3.752 run in this video !
For the newbies: ALL T/F, F/C, TAFC, TAD run a '66-'71 Chrysler designed HEMI that has been bored & stroked to 500ci & is alll Alumimum. This has been done for 40 years. The engine WILL "stay together" @ 8000 Hp. The head design is second to NONE. It is less prone to "Detonate". Once in a while you'll see a team try to use a BB Ferd or BB General Mistake for a top fuel engine... and the result is laughable.
@ccc771 dont forget this wasn't 1/4 mile, its 320 feet less seeing as they only run to 1000ft since scott kalitta died. the 1/4 record is still tony shumachers 4.428, his 1000ft time on that run was 3.77, so by that we can work out if this had been a full 1/4 pass it could have been as low as 4.400. maybe quicker, shame we'll never know
@lerroc yes its a pity they (NHRA) changed the length i live in Australia dont know if we have also changed the length havnt been following Drag Racing here in a while. Scotts engine blew well before the traps seems silly to me to change things over what happened to Scott . Its just real sad the track's braking area was nothing like long enough he may still be with us today if the Track had of been setup like my local 1 here.
@EnlargedProstrate that was 1000ft at Pamona not 1320, 3.77 on 1000ft equates to around 4.42 seconds on the quarter based on previous numbers, dont quite know how many times i need to say that.
was trying to find real quarter mile quickest and got this crap . 1000 feet bull!

How come NHRA still list's
TF 3.770 02/27/11 Larry Dixon - Indianapolis, IN Pomona, CA (updated 9-20-11)
As record holder? Perhaps McClenathan "couldn't back it up"

Edit: Larry Dixons run was timed @ 1000' My mistake.

1000ft Fuel Racing sucks big time - and now looks like it might it well be imposed on safe long tracks like Santa Pod.

@lerroc if it was 1/4 of a mile they would do 4.000 or 3.9s
lukezapper 6 months ago
@lukezapper its wouldnt be 3.9 at the 1/4 if its 3.7-3.9 at the 1000ft. but i guessed u realised that from your comment above lol.

@EnlargedProstrate yes indeed, a run that would have equated to around 4.42 on the quarter
