Either way, these are Chinese issues for the Chinese themselves to deal with. The British have no right in saying anything when you're the ones that forcefully flooded us with opium, stole our land, burned down our palaces, and massacred our people. They're the reason that China was poor for the last 150 years. China had a huge trade surplus with Britain until they realized that they could turn it around by selling us opium, despite knowing how addictive it is and banning it in their own country
The points overall are valid, as a very nationalistic Chinese person even I'm disgusted by the amount of corruption in and bullying by the local governments. I do believe that the country is headed in the overall right direction though. Also the video is wrong for portraying the pro-China protesters automatically as a crazy mob. The main reason it was a huge problem though, was because religious leaders of fa lun gong organized a riot in tiananmen square where they encouraged followers to literally burn themselves to death. three people died during that event, which was very tragic. I just think they could have done a more peaceful protest instead of resorting to such radicalism.

If I were the CCP, I would cancel the Olympics and use all the money to build safer coal mines and sturdier school buildings, so that very, very few miners would ever die in the mines and even the worst earthquakes wouldn't make the schools collapse. I would also use the money to give the Chinese people better education and a more affordable healthcare system, and improve the degree of sanitation in the cities. Then I'll be able to show the world: See? Chinese lives are VALUED.

The Chinese government has to address the genuine grievances of its ordinary people: fair compensation for homes & land seized, action against corruption & corrupt officials, provide a social safety net for those who have fallen by the wayside & dispense justice. If the government fails to act on these fronts then it is ignoring a cancer in the body politic which will catch up with them in time to come.
