  • This vid is freaking AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

on a side note, in my research, spartans are invincible with weapons, but dog meat without it seems, they need more training with wolves. weaponless.

  • brilliant, just brilliant. this vid has to be the best winter born vid and the best 300 vid I have come across so far..... wonderful timing on it.. thanks for making it for us

  • well made really touched me

  • @BookwyrmPendraconis just checked the html of Ghost again, and at the beginning of ch 25, when Pierson asks him what call sign he'll use for the mission in the islands, he replied "Use 'Winter born,'"

  • Ringo's not the only one. When I finely twigged to it. (yeah, Duh. lol) I found it in other books. But he does use it way more than anyone else. You can certainly see why. Some authors mention the songs they listen too while writing and that is pretty interesting also.

  • Is this the orignial of the song? Dumb question, I know lol but some things just sound way different. :p

  • @Cybeldina: This is the original.

  • wow i cant believe youtube didnt flag the video cause the beginning

  • Excellent video Rabbit, but I was wondering if you have a higher resolution version? Some of the scenes are grainy when I go full screen.

@BookwyrmPendraconis It's not just the Troy Rising series Ringo uses this in. He uses it a LOT more in Ghost and it's sequels, even has several lines from the song at one point in the first third of Ghost. The main character even refers to himself as Winterborn on occasion.

  • @ravenhawk9999: Correction: Mike tried to set his own team name in the SEALs, which isn't how things work. He wanted to be called Winterborn, but instead got Assboy for a while. Later he got Ghost.

And yes, it's not just Troy Rising. It's also in Legacy of the Aldenata and others.

  • @HegemonOfEarth "Do a little research"? "Or just read it"? You assume I haven't done either, which I find mildly insulting. I have, and I never found either of those phrases. In fact, the only place I've ever found those phrases are in John Ringo's Troy Rising series, which is what I assume you're quoting. If I'm wrong, please enlighten me.

  • Every time I see it I get goosebumps. An I see it quite often...

  • THANKS TO JOHN RINGO i actually decided to find this song. wierd how well books work on somebody.

  • 4 people must have been in such awe that they accidentally hit the wrong button..

  • This video... I am speechless and in tears after viewing it. This was a work of art to perfectly complement the masterful works of art that are "Winterborn" and 300! Thank you!

  • Dear Rabbit: Excellent job on this video, thank you for making it. I watch it every day it's so great!. I hope you know that this song was written about this very event. Rogue wrote Winterborn as tribute to the 300 at the battle of Thermopylae. That's why it's such a perfect fit. Although the metaphors presented could be applied to any desperate battle-soldiery type situation.

  • @ Bookwyrm - I always thought this song fit the Spartans better than Troy as well. Every word in the lyrics is about what the Spartans were fighting for.

  • Great video!

  • An excellently put together video to an amazing song. Well done. Rarely do I see such quality in a fan video. Now if only it were better resolution....

  • Oh My God! I feel so juvenile leaving a review like this after seeing what some others said, but I have to say this vid is amazing! It gave me chills so many times, the song and the movie are so perfect for each other! And the timing, the scene selection, it was all so amazing! I love it, and will watch it again and again. Its a new favorite.

  • elegantly made.

  • I got the feeling that not everyone able to write is able to read, too. Don't worry. As long as the music is better as some comments, everything is ok :P

  • I can't believe this video hasn't gotten more views and ratings.

  • thought this was just a brillant melding of a -- well, song just seems too weak. -- so, -- anthem & visuals

  • the people who voted this comment down obviously didnt understand what he meant. please actually read comments before voting them down guys.

  • sry but it isn´t this is the album version and think its rocks xD!

  • YEAH!!!!!

  • I agree about this being what 300 trailer should have been...wouldve had to reshoot the oracle scene cuz you know how peeps are these days but still woulda been awesome

    excellent vid

  • to bad that the sound is low quality :(

  • The sound quality is pretty good on my computer...

  • I think this is a really great video

  • Now THAT is what you call an awesome video!

  • Very Very nice video :D !!!

  • i love the song but beside that your video is totally Amazing you have really good skills man.

  • WOW is the least i can say you are a very good video maker r you a professional....also what did you use to make the slide show?

  • this is one of the best movies i have seen! i watch it over and over

  • Absolutely Fan-Fraggin-Tastic!

Probably the best "after market) marriage of movie footage and music (not written for the movie) I've ever seen. This is what the trailer for 300 SHOULD have been.

    Thank You!

(and I absolutely love the Paladin Series. Ringo has a wonderful sense of music for his "soundtracks" Check out his Posleen series)

  • I agree. Perfect match!

    10/5

  • i like the ghost series better but its funny, winterborn is mentioned in almost every one of his books, (excluding the posllen)

  • john ringo is the best author ever, he also mentions march of cambredeth alot

  • Hell yeah he always uses great music in his books. I got hooked on the series he did with david weber.

  • dude i love his books myself, and i just love how he has the chapter by chapter recommended listening :P

  • I love the Ghost series. You are a great person for knowing John Ringo. lol

  • Just watched your video,OUTSTANDING.

  • Awsome job, perfetly timed

  • i think this song was made for epic fantasy movies(Lord of The Rings for one)

  • Let me put it this way. This is flat out one of the best music videos I've ever seen on YouTube. Thank you for the awesome combination!!

  • Cruxshadows are amazing!! :D Love it!!!

  • sweet vid, love the song and the movie, and you had the great skill to put them together well wigh a real knowledge of the meaning of the song, and the battle of Thermopylae.

  • it's a series of booksabout an ex navy SEAL who is a total BAMF!!!!

  • Dude, I hope you are a pro, if not you SHOULD be. AMAZING synchronization of the audio.

Congrats, Kudos, Awesome, words fail me!

  • We thank thee, muchly!

  • @RabbitKnows you oughtta make one for "through the fire flames" by dragonforce if you haven't already

  • Excellent video. This is one of my favorite songs, and your video definately does it justice.

  • After years of reading references to Winterborn in John Ringo books, I finally looked it up yesterday. I didn't think it really fit the Trojans, and the first battle I thought of was Thermopylae. It still seemed the most appropriate, and I thank you for confirming that.

I've seen many YT music videos, as well as several just of Winterborn; yours is the best I've seen, with a Final Fantasy version of Vater Unser coming in second for timing and visuals. It'll be hard for someone else to top this.

  • We thank thee!

We are glad that thou liked the video and the thought that we shared of The Battle at Thermopylae! ^_^

  • i liked winterborn, and when john ringo mentioned it, it made me thik, SWEET, i knew i had good music tastes!!!

btw, the ghost serise is my favorite EVER!! the best is either kildar, or the origional, Ghost.

  • The Paladin of Shadows series by John Ringo is excellent - highly politically incorrect, which just makes it all the more fun to read. Try the newer William Weaver sci-fi series for extra enjoyment.

  • @BookwyrmPendraconis Dito, now I finally realize just why Ringo puts this song in so many books!

  • @BookwyrmPendraconis i did the same thing but i also looked up Citadel you should check that one out

  • @airgunnyboy: The song or the book? Trust me, either way, I have.

  • good one

  • After 7+ years of watching Cruxshadows fan vids... yours is by far the best. Not only did you pay attention to the meaning of the lyrics and the meaning of the movie, but you also paid attention to the timing and rhythm of the song and the film, and used appropriate color shifts to mirror shifts in the song... Brill. Great job.

  • The lack of comments on YouTube makes us, bunnies, sad. We owe thee a one big "thank-you" for this one!

    Glad that thou enjoyed!
