I remember back in the day, when technology was not easy, a friend and I jury-rigged a cassette deck to play in reverse just so we could hear for ourselves the supposed backwards satanic messages in an old ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) recording.

That at least had clues to reversibility. One forward track said the music is reversible, turn back, turn back. Another forward track was obviously reversed.
