  • if you dont like this song there is something lacking in your brain

  • Your*

  • WOW.. to lose a love. Then in you heart there something more.

  • You just don't get songs from the heart like this anymore.

  • I can listen to this all summer long

  • I can listen to this shit over and over and over again. It's so beautiful. I genuinely can't get enough.Repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat ...

  • In the mid 90's Brian made a TV documentary to go with "I was'nt made for these times" CD. In it he relates how he and one of the other BBs (I forget who) wrote this song during the evening following JFKs demise. Apparently it was a beautiful sunset and Brian had the basis of the tune, the other guy provided the words.

  • @BunkyOhare Pretty sure it was Mike Love

  • I don't see where this song has anything to do with JFK.... but is awesome regardless...

  • lots and lots of fun to play on the piano im gonna sneak it in when i play at my friend's wedding today

  • I hadn't heard the Beach Boys in a while until today, i can't believe i had forgotten how great they were, are and will always be. I'm in my early 20s and i hope when i have kids they'll be able to appreciate this great band as well.

  • Simply beautiful.I read some where that Brian and Mike wrote this on November 22 nd 1963

  • There are 11 people who like the cold....

  • This song represents what we all felt on November 22, 1963.

  • @BeachBoysJanDean1 i wasn't alive yet. you mean jfk?

  • @jaytotheell yes, the death of JFK marked the end of the era of innocence.

  • @BeachBoysJanDean1 i thought innocence went out with the end of WW2 and came from Elvis! just kidding about elvis but not the other thing i said.

  • @jaytotheell Just the opposite. After WW2 , there was a great sense of optimism. We won the "Good War" and it was a time to start families and enjoy "normalcy". Before JFK's death, no one would ever imagine that it would fatal for a president to ride in an open car. We were that inocent.

  • @BeachBoysJanDean1 i am sad for all humanity that the world changed because of that incident. (murder) i was born in 66. it was still kind of innocent in the 70's when i was growing up. now forget it.

  • @BeachBoysJanDean1 - No doubt! and yet as I lean back on my chair, close my eyes,- I am taken back to a high school dance where my high school sweetheart, (now wife of 45 years) were slow dancing. The Beach Boys not only contributed their musical genius for all of us to enjoy, but have contributed precious memories to those of us in that era.

  • @rbca7 Well said. Back then, I always wanted to be the first one to hear the next brand new Beach Boys release. They never failed to disappoint,

  • @BeachBoysJanDean1 They never failed to disappoint? What the hell are you talking about!

  • @rbca7 how special, married still to your high school sweet heart after all these years and still ejoying the Beach Boys's contribution to our generation.

  • @dlynnatkinson

Great music and a great wife are timeless. I had my wife come in to my study and said listen to this, I played Warmth of the Sun" and she smiled. I said what does that remind you of, her reply "getting pregnant" - so thank you BB's

  • Thank you for this wonderful picture show!! I adore this song to no end!! When I hear this song, I think of really pretty girls like UCLA and USC cheerleaders! Those types of girls ya know!!

  • Dam man... nobody makes songs this anymore :(

  • I remember it clearly. St. Henry's school...the principal came over the loudspeaker, told us to pray for a very special intention ! She sounded angry and very upset. Soon after, Sister Vincent Marie broke the news of JFK being killed. She couldn't even look at us, a room of 7 year olds. Some children were crying, we were sent home. The Warmth Of The Sun.....

  • This song makes me cry so hard :(

  • @ckotcher1 don't cry. it's about the life-sustaining sun and how it warms up all!

  • Beautiful. Is that last picture in Maui?

  • Simply Amazing!

  • All of these would make wonderful desktop photos!!

  • Yes it sure is all of the above.

  • What program did you use to make this video its really good.

  • Brian wrote this after John F. Kennedy was assassinated...

  • I have 3 favorites, Don't Worry Baby, The Warmth of the Sun and Kokomo. The Beach Boys are a reminder of American summers. They are warm, fun and of course, the beach! I almost forgot another favorite, John Stamos singing with the Beach boys.

  • @sweetnsoftone

First two songs you mentioned, brilliant. Second song, not so much. And Stamos, just....no.

  • Words can't do justice.Just listen

  • Beautiful classic..........

  • Spirtual song, you can feel the warmth of sun rays coming through the held vocal harmonies.

  • Comment removed

  • Amen! LOL, I used to comment to my musician friends that surf music is sacred, but they were dismissive. Needless to say, not one of them has ever been on a surfboard or even scuba/snorkeled.

  • This is the only Brian Wilson that will ever matter in the history of history.

  • @BowedOak1

I watched the All-Star game the other day and saw a bearded Brian Wilson

  • God Only Knows is a smidge better : )

  • Alec Baldwin brought me here. I thought he was talking about Brian Wilson the pitcher.

  • Brian Wilson - genius

  • Brian Wilson-- genuis

  • song was written after the tragic death of JFK. a top notch example of pop/melancholy.

  • Yesss :) Another classic from the Beach Boys. It's a perfect tune for those summer evenings. Thanks for uploading.

  • Beautifully done! One of my all-time favorite Beach Boys songs-(lead vocal by Brian Wilson), bought the LP it's on (Shut Down Vol. 2) in 1964.

  • I'm raping the replay button.... this is so beautiful.

  • Quintessential America music. What band has ever approached the Beach Boys in harmony? Beautiful.

  • it does not get any better than this, nice photos too

  • 8 people are left in the cold.

  • One of the best love songs ever!! ...profound:=)

  • Thumbs up if you 1st heard this in the movie "Good Morning Vietnam".

  • @TakeMeBackTo1986 I remember it from the film though I can't remember the scene. I don't know if its when Robin Williams is taking a walk with the Vietnamese girl to tell her he's leaving.

  • @TakeMeBackTo1986 I heard it in 'Sleepers'

  • "I cried when she said, "I don't feel the same way"."

    Who hasn't felt that?

  • Thank you for this. I bought this on a '45 and played it to death, I think that "Don't Worry Baby" was on the Flip side of the one I bought circa 1963? Harmony for pop groups at its best! Thank you!

  • this reminds my of the love of my life ex husband joey g

  • 8 people don't like the warmth of the sun.

  • @AdamsApple1963 - aren't they stupid!!!:=):=) are they from Mars?? lol

  • i'm from columbus,in.,home of 2 of the four freshmen.which inspired the beachboys, whichinspired the beatles, the rest is music history! who knew a town in soybean,in. would change the face of music forever!

  • Pure, simple, wondrous brilliance.

  • @WAGXOXOXO four words which capture the essence of this song....and so many other Beach Boys tracks...thank you Brian, Carl, Dennis, Mike, Al

  • This is probably one of the most beautiful Beach boys songs ever.

  • @magicalmysterygirl I agree! I attended a concert in Logan, Utah last week with the latest iteration of the Beach Boys (only Mike Love left from the original band), and was looking forward to hearing this song. Apparently, the new falsetto singer wasn't up to this song, as they didn't sing it. Disappointing, but enjoyed the concert anyway.

  • @DUGGER1947 Must have been a great show! Lucky you! :)

  • @magicalmysterygirl correction this IS the most beautiful Beach Boys song ever

  • ....GOOSEBUMP SONG....:=):=) SAW THEM IN DALLAS WITH THE LOVE OF MY LIFE IN 1967...VIVID MEMORY:=)

  • The beatles are my favorite, except from may to sept, when the beach boys take over!

  • Haunting and Beautiful.. :)

  • ghost of the four freshmen(and five trombones)

  • I'm getting pretty old now. I miss those youthful San Diego days. La Jolla shores, Debbie Martin and my parents.

  • I like this track so much i wake up to it on my CD alarm clock.

  • Fantastic images!

  • Ah,warm weather,remember that.

  • **** Splendid!

  • Gorgeous pictures. Thanks for posting this. A lot of people don't know that Brian Wilson wrote this song in response to the Kennedy assassination. It's purely heartbreaking -- and gorgeous. One of my favorites.

  • This sure brings back some sweeet memories...beautiful music and video...love it!

Thank You for the share, John :)

    Annie

  • Great song!, Great pictures! Real neat how the water ripples at 2.20--2.25

  • This beautiful song and its superb production is what happens when a garage band is redefined by a pop genius.

  • Sad, wistful, uplifting, what other decriptive words can I find? Wonderful music, and the Beach boys were so good at this!

  • This is a great combination of music from Brian Wilson and lyrics from Mike Love. A lot of people criticise Mike Love, and the criticism is often valid. In spite of the that, Mike wrote good lyrics with this track.

  • One of the most beautiful songs ever written-Thank you Brian Wilson-We love you!! It makes me cry when i sing to it, but it feels so right, it brings so much peace to me-

  • I love the Beach Boys there one of my favorite bands of all time.I love you Brain Wilson and You did a good Job on this song. This is one of my favorite songs to.

  • I love you Brian

  • This is my favorite song of the Beach Boys. I fell in love with this song, the first time I heard it. I played it over and over on the cd. Still I have the warmth of the sun within me at night......, the love of my life .. she left me one day... I cried when she said, I don't feel the same way... Awww... so sad.

  • on the subject of jfk and vietnam it should be pointed out that under the National Security Action Memorandum (NSAM) 263 drawn up by the kennedy administration it was intended that all US military personnel would leave Vietnam by the end of 1965..this is a irrefutable fact. !

after john's murder however this was scrapped by LBJ and replaced by memorandum 273 which greatly ...and disastrously as it turned out escalated US involvement in vietnam.

  • @davidleigh65 LBJ was neck deep in the plot to assasinate JFK. THis song was on the morning of the day that LBJ and the power cartels pulled it off.

  • Such control, emotion, perfect pitch. Love this song. Beach Boys. Voices. Love. Love. Love. Love.

  • sorry to say, but this song is a BUMMER

  • yeah, great camera work....but, this is Beach Boys, '60's.....we want beach, girls, cars...and nothing remotely political.....I'll get out my old yearbook!

  • A Masterpiece - Brian Wilson is a Genius

  • I heard Brian Wilson say he wrote this in November 1963, when John F. Kennedy was killed. He said he felt sad and blue all day, didn't know why and penned "The Warmth Of The Sun." Then he heard the news of what had happened. I was 7 years old and remember it clearly.

  • A MYSTERY SONG. IT'S NEVER PLAYED, BUT PROBABLY HAS THE LISTENING VALUE OF 'DON,T WORRY, BABY' OR 'PLEASE LET ME WONDER'. IT'S SO GOOD THAT IT'S PROBABLY BEST TO JUST RELAX AND ENJOY.

  • The pictures remind me of my vacation on kauai and Maui. Thanks

  • I have been trying to find this song since I heard it in the movie Sleepers. It reminds me of my beautiful wife! Thanks :)

  • Beautiful pictures and and even more beautiful song. Nice.

  • Aloha! David. from a wet windy glasgow, scotland. you brightened up my evening with your sunsets. and of course the beach boys brighten up my life with their music.

thank you david, and thank you beach boys.

  • Reminds me of my early childhood vacationing at beach have n.j. ..great 60,s stuff i just had to throw in! enjoy!

  • Ya know the day destroyed the night...

    Night devides the day...

Break on through to the other side!! YEAH.

  • @HitchHikersBlues

Agree with all the coments, and I understand it was written the night following JFK

had been shot. Brian Wilson had the tune already. Exquisite changes from one key

( / root) to another. Thats genius and it goes so perfectly with the sea and sunsets..

    many thanks to dolfin55

  • @BunkyOhare : Really, I never knew that about the JFK thing ??

As an Irishman, i have to say' R.I.P. JFK.

  • @HitchHikersBlues

Yup Richard, there was a documentary about Brian, a dozen +years ago, I taped it, he made a new CD with Caroline No, Warmth of the sun, Melt away, Till I die etc. title, "I just wasn't made for these times". (1995) He talked about making WOTS. Apparently it was a beautifull sunset, and it all clicked. Snap about JFK., and the Irish connection. ME TOO !

  • @BunkyOhare :

    Just outta curiousity.

I've heard the name (Bunky) before in Film called Dirty Mary & Crazy Larry.

Is it some kind of American Slang or an abbreviate for some nick name, or what is it ??

  • @HitchHikersBlues

In my case Richard it is a nickname "Bunky", and I and my ex were very fond of hares, it started a long time ago after I read inTacitus (The annals) that Roman children were given one of three pets, a dog, cat or hare. They are more intelligent than dogs and make wonderfull domestic pets. Saw a short on TV ten years ago about a guy in Norfolk who had raised three orphan leverets, they were laid across his lap on a sette, and one over his feet. Beautifull.

  • @BunkyOhare : Yeah we also have fondness for Hare's in Ireland.

We race them with Greyhounds, and Traveller's race them illegally for cash.

Sadly their in decline now? because of modern man, and the destruction of their habitat : ( Roads, Housing Estates, factories Pollution etc etc...

  • What a tune ??

    ...Pure Gold.

  • Thanks I needed this. Great therapy. I remember sneaking this album out of my older brother's stack of wax when he wasn't home & listening to it, rockin' out in my rocking chair with the headphones on. That was so dad wouldn't hollar, "Turn down that racket!" It was all racket to him, I'm glad he can't hear the non-music cRAP they are turning out now. Long live the Beach Boys & all the other 60's & 70's harmony groups !!!

  • This is my summer song, it never gets old.

  • Warmth of the Sun...From my sisters Close`N`Play phonograph at age five to you tube at 55... Im thinking of a Central Texas high school can can girl with butterscotch legs and wearing a bolero hat...Next You-tube stop..."When I was Seventeen"...Sigh!

  • I use to think of my youth when I thought of this song... and, now, I think of my 16 year old grandson who died 5/13/2009 after a two year battle with cancer. Gramma loves you, Christian................... see you soon.

  • Truly a miracle of a song. The heart and soul of Brian Wilson has blessed millions.

  • Truly a miracle of a song. The heart and soul of Brian Wilson has blessed millions.

  • This song makes every morning shine like a Genesis.

  • incredible, outstanding, work of a real genius

  • Beautiful song.

  • This song never gets old for me. The Pet Sounds LP is probably the best these guys ever did. Great music the way music should be.

  • @EdMahoney19 You're right it's a beautiful song, one of their best. But it's not from Pet Sounds, it was written in Nov. 1963 (right around JFK's assassination) and released in 1964. Pet Sounds was released in 1966.

  • classic beach boys great song timeless

  • What a great song! And great photos.

  • He created this sound that will last a million years. Hats off to Brian Wilson (1 of those moments when you think Real-genius) Angelic Falsatto

  • Reminds me of the end of the world.. Trippy shit, I love it.

  • Beautiful song!!!..never gets old!!! I used to work with a young lady in the 70's who told me that this is the GREATEST song ever..lol..you know, she may have been right!!!!

  • @ukcatfan36 ...She was spot on..My fav and always will be. Vince Gill even does a great version :)

  • @kavorka999 ..I would think Vince would def. do this song justice with his type of voice and style..I think this osng was a prelude to "Pet Sounds"

  • One of the most inspired songs ever, pure genius!

  • Very very nice.

  • For all you viewers who love this song, try pulling up the version with Willie Nelson singing it WITH the Beach Boys, from their Stars and Stripes album. As much as I like the original, the rendition with Willie Nelson puts it in a whole new realm.

  • How the heck are we suppose to write comments now, YouTube? Maybe I am totally brain-dead and don't get the new changes you have made but if you don't make it specific how the heck are we supposed to know?

  • i long for younger days, when life was much easier.

  • @reddog9401 don't long, embrace life right now and the moments will return.

  • @reddog9401 Amen

  • just the greatest love song ..wish I was 20 again

  • this is just greatest song ever ..wish I was 20 again..

  • This is played towards the end of Good Morning Vietnam when Adrian (Robin Williams) is saying goodbye and getting on the plane for home. It adds to the sadness of his goodbyes. An underrated and underplayed BB song. Beautiful!

  • A vocal masterpiece--Brian & Mike were 20 y/o, when the wrote this song. Heartbreaking, & achingly beautiful, more so, as the years go by. Wolfsky9

  • The chord and key changes in this song are gorgeous.

  • This is my favorite relaxing Beach Boy song. You really don't hear it much. It is so melodic and pretty. I remember hearing it in the early 90's movie Sleepers about boys who committed a crime when they were young and they were sent to prison and molested and it ruined their lives. It was a good film but not very uplifting obviously. Thanks for this beautiful resurgence of the beautiful song.

  • @clouseau186 If you like this one, I recommend Keep an Eye on Summer and The Lonely Sea.

  • Beautiful songs...Brilliant writer in Mr. Brian Wison & God Bless Dennis & Carl forever...*

  • Christian .... you are my warmth of my SUN, my baby boy.

  • Brian Wilson....genius..... nuff said!

  • fuck yeah man. check my sunset vid if you get a chance

  • An underrated gem of a song

  • While shut down volume 2 will never be the 1st BBs album i reach for (way 2 much filler), its hard to deny an album that carries this, don't worry baby, their best cover version (why do fools....) and fun, fun, fun.

  • Long live the Beach Boys!!

  • I love to listen to music when I'm troubled. Some songwriters cheer me up, some take me to a higher place of peace, beauty, and sanity that only prayer can otherwise get me to. They are Mozart, Laura Nyro, George Gershwin, Johnny Mercer, and Brian Wilson. Brian, for all his flaws, pain, and suffering, is a channel for the mind and heart of God.

  • Beautiful song and video! :)

  • This was THE song to put on when you got dumped.

  • @citizenfitz ; Depends on how you look at it ! The warmth of the sun will never die ,shes gone to graze in the pasture and he still has 10 wks. left !!

  • November 22, 1963 (night of President Kennedy's death) ..... Mike Love and Brian Wilson went into the studio and wrote this song..... The genius of Brian Wilson

  • I was 21 years old and in the Air Force stationed up in Cananda's Newfoundland at the time this song was poplular...it is as great now as it was then.

  • @hog9x32w I was in a singing group in college and we took an USO tour in March, 1971 and one of our stops in Newfoundland. The group, The K-State Singers from Kansas State University. I wonder if you were there then.

  • Wow! Beautiful pictures and a Classic song. Hearing this and seeing the pics, knocks 45 years off my life, and sends me back to being 16 again!!! Brian....What a Voice!!!!!! It makes me cry the trajedy of the Beach Boys. RIP Denny and Carl and Thank You Brian for giving us so much. Beach Boy fan Forever!!!!

  • @eatmelily ...but this is just a record, "improved" by electronical equipment... The voice of a performer is not natural. It's so obviously "synthetic", artificial. I do not hear a single note sounding naturally.

  • @bewareofmindhunters I agree slightly, vinyl is still the way to truely listen to music.

  • @bewareofmindhunters but none of the Beatles or Beach boys (besides Good Evening NYC) have ever used pitch correction materals.

  • @ClassicRockerSr101 You are so trustful because very young... I respect your opinion, but... please compare live singing of ANY PERFORMER with their studio records, and you will see the huge difference between them :-) ... and you will recognize that THIS record is one of the worst ever - because it is TOO SYNTHETIC.

  • Dork. search this one:

    George Martin speaks in NY

  • Brian in his heyday!!! Sound quality & images are superb!! Thanks a bundle!!

  • Dear David, I really enjoy your sunsets! Sometime you have to tell me how you "put together" the images and the beautiful music... I just sit in front of a video camera and plug wires into my DVD recorder for the "clean audio... the emotional directness really suits me... but I'd like to do a little more! Free software, perhaps? Thank you again for your wonderful multi-media art!

PS. I'd say Dick dale is an 'under the radar' guitar KING as influential as Chet or Jimi...

  • There are many software products in the market that all do pretty much the samething. Some are a little more elaborate (confusing) than others. I used a product called Movie Maker. German made. It's a little confusing, but I had a friend who was knowledgeable and he helped me a lot. If you have Windows Vista, there is a movie making software pre loaded that is really user friendly.

  • THANKYOU... THANKYOUVERYMUCH!

  • The warmth of the SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA sun. The home that I love, and this song captures it.

  • A jewel in the music industry.

  • Fucking outstanding.

  • Pet Sounds has been ranked at number #1 in several other music magazines' lists of greatest albums of all time, including New Musical Express, The Times and Mojo Magazine.

  • Around us theres lots of music to discover. Now and then i make some big discoveries. Latest is Brian Wilson. This music change brain chemistry. You then tries to learn what it is and wheres it comes from. I dont know. Thank you for sparring with me dorkhunter . Feels good to defend Brian. His capabilities are amazing.
