Not really. The most classic acid synth the TB-303 only had one osc. Mini Moog had three, but a three osc sound is so huge it's limited in what you can do with it, as it will usually overpower any other synth sounds you may want to mix with it, which is why the mini moogs also had the option of switching the third osc to a LFO
not reallly... the mini had a mix section where you could play it as a single osc synth.... saying that it is limited for having MORE oscs is kind of silly....
@DomiBabi3 I'm not saying that the mini is more limited, I'm saying that three osc sounds are limited. Making the third more of a luxury then a necessity.
I have seen all of the videos and a lot of discussion about the XS, from all accounts it's the best new monosynth to come out for a loooooong time. I'm waving money at you Jared, now get some stock to stores in Germany!
Notes can be accented by either MIDI velocity messages or external control voltages. The accent Sensitity control determines the point in which the velocity value or control voltage causes the envelopes to be accented or not.
The Revolution's sequencer is playing the XS. No sound is being generated by the Revolution in this series of demonstration. All sounds were recorded from the output of the XS ran directly into the audio input of the video camera.
uber kool jam :) thanks so much for the demo

The Revolution does a better job recreating the TB303 sounds, and has more features in the sequencer than the 777.
The 777 has the ability to produce a wider range of sounds.
So it really depends on your taste, and what you are wanting to do.
FutureRetroSynths 3 years ago
Nice. Is the revolution better than the 777?

I have a question about accenting notes
Are the notes accented when the velocity hits a certain point

The "UFO" is our Revolution synthesizer/sequencer. In this video we are using the Revolution's sequencer to play the XS.

I think this will be the ms-20 of our time!
I don't even play acid/techno but I can tell this is so raw and good sounding for other types of music.
PhotoAnimationGuy 3 years ago 2
I'm gonna buy one for sure, I just can't handle pre ordering because I'm so impatient. Must have XS now! srsly how long is the wait?
Would love it if you made something like a slimmed down, non modular version with patch storage someday... just dreamin.
Thanks for demoing the XS so well, if only all synth manufactures took the time to make a few proper demos like this...
PhotoAnimationGuy 3 years ago
dude! to me you have a good analogy...to
the ms-20. i bought one and it crapped
out on me. but am thinking of this
future retro unit as the next step.
