@jcawesome2, you were right when you said they aren't a punk band, cause they're not! Don't get me wrong, this is a great song!! I'm not talking crap on the band just so everyone knows, they do kick ass, but selling a platinum record is the furthest thing from being punk! Punks a lifestyle, not just fast beats and power cords. They are a successful rock band, with punk influence. Also, they are far from being, "ahead of their time"! The "Irish Bar Sound", has been around for a long time...
@cj0481 They most certainly are a punk band. Multiple punk or celtic punk bands have topped charts and sold large quantities of records. If having an album sell well makes a band suddenly stop being punk then there will hardly be any punk bands left. The Clash's album London Calling reached double platinum, Sex Pistols went platinum in multiple countries etc. Like it or not the idea of punk as being some remote outcast music is not true, it is well liked all over the world.
@cj0481 saying something is not punk because they are successful is pretty un-punk. Sounds like those people who like a band until they get popular because they feel cooler if know what knows what they are listing to.
...they just keep it alive! All in all...they are a kick ass band, but far from the greatest.
