The late 05/06 models have Xenon and White trimmed interior, like white dash screen instead of orange. That's the only difference in looks from 05-06 model; lights, interiour and engines.. (1.5Diesel became 106bhp instead of 100bhp)

i do love this car, my sister gave me her 2004 megane and its still running sweet as, no new parts needed ever. i admit she did 12k miles in it but its still like new, no problems etc. the car they show is in the blue i got and i love it, but mine came to me dull and spent 4 days making it sparkle again. in the past snow of this year i did get hit by a other lady driver and well the megane had nothing on it but the other car was smashed up badly shows how good built it is.

I have this car and it's fucking awesome. Well made, good looking, pretty fast and comfortable. I have the one with a keycard instead of standard key, those cards can be damaged pretty easily and they are not cheap. The other downfall is weird hand brake, handle feels very cheap and as if it could break in a sec. Besides that, great car.

The only downside of this car, is it's suspension - it's not bad, but it could've been a bit stiffer. Apart from it, it's nearly indestructible (yes, a french car) - it survived 120k kilometers on polish roads with a 3 minor issues (really nothing worth mentioning)... And still feels pretty much the same as the day I bought it couple of years ago.

I had a Megane year 2006, at first I loved the car since it was very comfortable but it didn't take long before it started getting on my nerves. It was slow as hell for its HP, I hated the fact that while pushing the accelerate pedal the gear stick was going back and fort, interior looked half done and eventually around 120k km engine died beyond repair. After that it was pretty clear I will not buy a french car ever again.

i worked a while in the renualt dealership and one thing is certain MEGANE isnt a very reliable car petrol engines are good but diesels really suck. EGR valve is a weak spot, trannys are good, suspension is as comfortable as it gets ( even better than most of bmw and mercedeses) Meganes steering rods and other joints are too weak. etc

2. Problem is business strategy of car manufacturers in France. When you design and create any component, you test it for how long does it last, how many cycles (on/off) or how many hours it can run without worn.

And French car manufacturers strategy is to create cheap cars with low margin, sell them extremly well (as lots of looks great and it seems to be good value for money).

I wish they sold stylish, fast, and safe cars in America like the Renault. It makes everything else America offers look like what it is: rubbish. Nasty interiors, loud annoying and underpowered engines, horribly ugly styling and poor fuel economy. If Ford took into consideration that they COULD make their cars exciting AND beautiful on a budget I'd buy one but untill then, I'll stick with the Euro boxes.
