They are toxic yes, but they do not use more, not even close. Even after manufacturing energy usage factored in they still come out ahead. I use these bulbs, and i like them. However i am smart enough to know they have mercury in them and need to be disposed of properly, now...im not so sure about the 100 million soccer moms out there, that's what scares me. Finally, they use less electricity, which is less coal pollutants, which is less mercury in the air, they may reduce mercury overall!!!

CO2 does not destroy the ozone layer. It has nothing to do with the ozone layer.

As far as I know, on a whole glaciers are retreating (if one is advancing, please tell me which one). A lot of glaciers are retreating not because of increasing temperature, but decreased friction and faster descent into bodies of warmer water.

These bulbs use just as much power but they use induction so it doesn't show up on the meter.

There is a new bulb soon to be launched that uses an aluminium tube and microwave thats about 60% efficient next to a lightbulb that is around 5% at best. Then there are jumps in LED technology.
