If you go to church you will get help. The best ones have the best Youth groups. So if you are ever alone and need help I suggest you go to a christian person you know from church or school. They will probably invite you to church and you can ask to speak with a pastor and that really helps. Prayer goes a long way and sometimes strangers will care about you the most. I've been in situations where something wanted me to end my life and it was usually because I was impacting lives without knowing.
Impacting lives in a good way. I would later have people come up to me and tell me they appreciated something I did or said. They would say that and I would think to myself how it would have been different if I wasn't there to do that. It all works out really, even when you have no idea what's happening. It's good not to know what's going on, sometimes good things happen. Wait for it.

He is right about government ones. They just talk to you and to their job, get off the phone and if you're still feeling down they send the police. The person I talked to here stayed on the phone with me and was supportive and seemed like he really cared. Every time I though he was going to go he kept talking to me.

Recently, she ended up showing me her bruises, cuts, and burns. She really opened up to me about this. And that meant a lot to me. Suicide is very difficult. Most methods have a very high chance of failure. As a result, only the most compulsive people succeed with those methods. I'm not compulsive, that's pretty much the only reason I haven't don it yet. Looking for the perfect method that doesn't involve firearms.

It's good that you even care.. God is the eternal Creator of the universe and we are created in His image. We are able to distinguish right from wrong. BUT if we are spiritually DEAD (as a result of sin) and we live without understanding who God really is, it is easy to deny God's existence. I'm not sure, I'm just going by what the guy literally said in the video. I know that if you tell a therapist or counselor or psychologist or whatever that you're planning to harm yourself or someone else, they HAVE to report it. To whom they would report it to, I don't know, but I've heard that many times. But if you really wanted to kill yourself, you wouldn't be calling one of those lines or seeking help. Seeking help means you don't really want to do it.
As someone who talked to a therapist face-to-face, and as someone who is the daughter of a mental health worker, I was told by my therapist that were I planning on killing myself, and told her so, she could get me help, however that would mean calling the police. If you are underage they will contact your parents--you have become a danger to *yourself and others* at that point. Also, many states have laws regarding how long they can hold you against your will in a hospital.
If I actually wanted to kill myself though..I wouldn't want to talk to anyone about it, let alone be hospitalized...do you know what one of those places made me do?..and did to me?

idk if i still will, and i am an athiest... ive asked god for help too many times for help, and ive looked for any responce, but there is nothing, i gave up. but now, i am out of... mental hospital, and im better now, i tried to leave earth 3 times in a row, but i didnt do it the right way i guess... but thats the past, im happier now

Life is temporary, a blink in an eternity. Don't go looking around your situation, even yourself, He came for you and carried YOUR punishment. You don't think that all your suffering comes from being separated from God?? God created man in His perfect image, so that when Adam and Eve sinned, they disobeyed God and died. Spiritually I mean. When God said they would die, he meant they were separated from his holy presence, but he would restore it, read Gen 3:15. Amen. Say Amen.

Several of the comments on this video bother me. This hotline has saved so many lives, yet all people care to do is hide behind their computer screens and insult it simply because they can do so anonymously.

only you can help you! but it would be nice to be able to speak to someone, and know that they will give you information to a resource center, and not call the cops. i'm sure sending them a dollar. if you've ever been touched by a friend or loved one who has commit suicide, give a dollar for their memory!

The truth is hotlines are only as good as their weakest link. We are all human and capable of failing. Why do we hold crisis hotlines to a higher standard than 9-1-1? Crisis line workers should be recognized as extraordinary people for caring and listening unconditionally on a volunteer basis day after day.They deserve our support, praise, and recognition. How do you know unless you actually called them or tried to commit suicide. Sometimes all it takes is someone to talk it out with to make a world of difference. If I didnt have that, I wouldnt be here. I am a survivor since October 2003.

i have called that number before, and the lady i was connected with made me feel worse because of how big of a bitch she was. She hoenstly yelled and swore, only thing that saved my ass was my ex-girlfriend.

This is an important service, and I hope they keep this number independent of the Federal government.
Suicide tears at families and friends of survivors and the communities they live in.
One important difference between the people who made this video and the Federal Government--These folks do not keep your personal data. The Feds have NOT made that guarantee. You want people feeling comfortable calling, which they may not if they think the Feds are storing their data.

It takes a real person to be able to talk about their feelings and what they are going through. A stronger person than an idiot who can hide behind his comp and make stupid remarks just to be 'funny'. I wish I had known about this hotline sooner, but I just got lucky by God to have survived my attempts and learned on my own that my life is valuable. It was not that I was 'whiny' at all; noone knew and noone could have guessed. So to make ASSumptions does only one thing on you...Nice vid I added.

I'm not sure, I'm just going by what the guy literally said in the video. I know that if you tell a therapist or counselor or psychologist or whatever that you're planning to harm yourself or someone else, they HAVE to report it. To whom they would report it to, I don't know, but I've heard that many times. But if you really wanted to kill yourself, you wouldn't be calling one of those lines or seeking help. Seeking help means you don't really want to do it.

As someone who talked to a therapist face-to-face, and as someone who is the daughter of a mental health worker, I was told by my therapist that were I planning on killing myself, and told her so, she could get me help, however that would mean calling the police. If you are underage they will contact your parents--you have become a danger to *yourself and others* at that point. Also, many states have laws regarding how long they can hold you against your will in a hospital.

If I actually wanted to kill myself though..I wouldn't want to talk to anyone about it, let alone be hospitalized...do you know what one of those places made me do?..and did to me?
Honestly, I've thought about calling this number once...but only because I wanted to talk to someone...not be put in a mental institution. Thanks, now I know not to call this number because I don't want to go back to that joint. If I do intend to ever actually do myself in. But maybe you guys can help others?

You didn't listen to the message completely, did you? - He was saying that the GOVERNMENT policy would be to send police and the mental inst. - the current hotline offers a person to listen and the advice to talk to a counselor - NOT the police.
By calling this number, you are not necessarily going to be sent to a mental inst - they are going to help you!

No, I listened to it.
This number traces calls and if it's "serious" enough, they'd call the cops themselves. They even call parents.
I've had too many bad experiences at the mental institutions to care to go there again.
Like I said, I'd rather want to talk to someone...not end up in a hospital later that day.

i think you're confusing how this hotline believes a person that calls for help should be dealt with how the government believes should be done.
its the government that wants ppl to be taken straight to the hospital. this hotline isn't being run by the government. its privately funded.
