  • I think it's time to rectify many things being said here:

1- what u all call the updated version is better; some songs are still the same but the different ones fit MJ's moves better.

2-moreover, the updated version hasn't been made for dvd; i have an old official vhs from the late 80's with Yanni, David Benoit and Najee's songs already there.

3- there's never been any 1989 playoffs or Cavs footage. No matter what music, the most recent footage are from the 1988 all-star game.

  • The 2 versions actually came out at the same time, so there's no original version and on both there's MJ at the gym in the beginning. I had the "updated" one and a friend of mine had the "original" one we bought approximately at the same time but in different stores....

  • Are you serious, the original soundtrack and all. Shoutout to rsx2 for uploading this

  • Basketball exploded back then in early 90's, me and my brother watched this over and over in New Zealand and Michael Jordan pretty much popularised the sport over here. And the way The U.S made sports doco's with the hyped up emotional music and highlights was awesome. We got so inspired to try our moves on the driveway. And I'm gonna buy those air jordans I always wanted.

  • Yesss the original soundtrackkkk =DDDD

  • I love the original VHS version and music! This is my childhood!

  • YES! The other version here on youtube has alternate music. Thanks for uploading this!

  • This brings bk memories, I haven't seen this in so long.

  • OMG, I used to watch MJ's videos over and over and over again as a kid.

  • I always loved the missing segment with the Brad Daugherty post-game interview from those '89 playoffs. "We just can't stop that guy. We tried and tried and tried...." trails off. I just cannot find that anywhere.

  • thanks for posting this video. I had the original vhs too, but lost it. I bought the DVD version and was disappointed, because the soundtrack was changed. The old soundtrack always puts me to sleep when I watch it, it's just not the same with the new soundtrack. Whoever changed the soundtrack should get fired.

  • @toobeme24 They had to change the soundtrack because of licensing issues with the artists... Najee's "Mysterious" song missing on the updated version and the opening highlight montage music were noticeably absent. It really feels good to watch this with the original soundtrack!

  • When I was 9 years old we rented this from Blockbuster and my dad made me a copy of the VHS using 2 vcr's. I LOVED the original soundtrack, and have been disappointed by the one on the dvd. Thank you very much for posting this...the old music is great. And to the posters below...I have seen that version...one time around 2002 they aired it on NBA TV back when it was still a good channel, haven't seen it since though. Thanks again.

  • thanx yo this gives me so much memoriess when i was young mah father bought this for me back in 1990 and i userto watch it da days before games for motivation...

  • Ah...so much better. I got the DVD so I could stop wearing out my old VHS tape, and then they went and changed all the music on me. Thanks for posting this. It's 1989 all over again.

  • greatest player of all time and great role model

  • also a interview with Brad Daugherty frome the Cavs. But STILL....good looking out on the original soundtrack. cause that otehr one gets on my nerves cause its not the real stuff!! The original soundtrack brings back all those memories of me watching this which was like 3 times a day. lol

  • this is dope. i don't know how on earth u got the original music. but thanks a lot. however...this is still not THE orginal version. the real original version had lightning flashing at the beginning after the opening title and said 1990. it didn't have Mike in the gym, it just went straight into the movie. And also noticeably absent is the 1989 playoff scene between the Bulls and Cavs where he hit that shot at the free throw line then a brief scene of them and the Pistons playoff game.

  • the one the you're talking about is very rare, i think. i was about 10 when that came out and i remember there was supposed to be flashing lights in the beginning. that came from my friend's bootleg tape back in the Philippines. when i got my own VHS later on, this was what i got. thanks for reminding me.

  • i think my betamax copy was the one with the flashing light sequence you were talking about. anyone here gotta betamax player i can borrow? hehehe.

  • Thank you sooooo much! I've been looking for this version. I loved the soundtrack to this one. Takes me back to my childhood with the VHS..Where can I find a full listing of all songs on this video. Thanks again!

  • those look like black booty shorts . no homo

  • thx for uploading

  • What's interesting though is that besides the music in the beginning a lot of the music is the same.

  • you're right. I just scanned through the updated version and there's not a lot of difference really (soundtrack). I also noticed extra clips on the updated version.

  • The soundtrack on the updated version is substantially better. How could you possibly think this is better?

  • I grew up watching the VHS version since its release back in the late 80s so I'm used to the original soundtrack. I do have the updated version on DVD though. Personal preference, that's all.
