The bollards are there to prevent unauthorised access. They're very common and to be honest, if an unauthorised driver tries to drive over them after access was granted to the driver in front, it's their own fault. I once saw someone drive a brand new promotional car into them in the hope they'd get over them fast enough. All they got was a crumpled bonnet/hood and a pissed of boss.

I've sat there on the street corner and watched those buses and bumps. You couldn't get more signs telling people it is a "bus lane only" if you tried. Yet still they come down. They even showed it on the local news. Still about one a month does it.

The red van belongs to Royal Mail (UK), the white van obviously belongs to a private contractor and has no transponder fitted.
