  • i like the mouth covering better than changing the whole breast line

  • Lindsay Pearce is going to ruin this musical so badly!

  • @YoungOscarWinner it can never be ruined

  • moritz was out of air ahahah

  • is that krysta rodriqes from the addams family at 2:59 ?

  • I want to see a SA movie sooooooooo bad!!! And I want it with as much of the original cast as possible. Lea, Jonathan, John and everybody else!!!

I don't care if they don't look 14 anymore, if I want to believe the story I will believe it. I want their voices and their faces on the screen.

  • @siralus if they do it now and move the ages up a little bit you'll have your wish!

  • @siralus meeee tooooo!!!!so badly !!

  • I WILL ALWAYS FOREVER LIKE THIS

  • @VeryStrangechild - i believe it's b/c the organization that controls content on public programmig has rules as to what you can/can't do within a certain TV Rating.

Whatever the Tony Awards rating is, they can only say "Bitch" a certain number of times, can't say "breasts", "fuck", etc etc or else the TV rating of the entire program will be bumped up (I.e. restricted, only to be played within certain hours or on PPV cable.)

  • why is this my first time watching this? this is AMAZING.

  • @kingandlionheart the whole play is on youtube, you should watch it. It's AMAZING!

  • bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla~~~~

  • The lyric changes are HILARIOUS

  • Jennifer Damiano on the left at 2:58 :)

  • 0.56 - is that Lindsay Pearce??? it looks so much like her.

  • Comment removed

  • @ilovemusic0212 what? at 0.56... so Lea Michele changed her hair, clothing and eye colour in the space of a second? wow... what a pro...

  • Why they censor "Breasts" but not "Bitch" I will never know. They should've gone "Totally Stuck" or "Totally Trucked" and if they're to put "Bitch" in there, why not just say "Totally Fucked"??

  • So they can say bitch but not ass or breasts? haha I'll never understand censoship

  • It's weird seeing Lea Michele out of the context of Glee :P

  • i swear the girl wth the shorter braided pigtails in the black?? dress was in FIRED UP as the little sister....

  • Really? They can say bitch but not ass?

  • I love this play!

  • that laugh from 1:44-1:46 cracks me up, sounds like a school girl giggling BWAHAHAH!

  • I love Lea michele and jonathan groff *___* best actors ever! :D

  • I've watched this about 7 times today so far...

  • I love watching Kim conduct the band :)

  • can someone name all the songs that they put together please?

  • @The29thStreet Mama Who Bore Me, Bitch of Living and Totally Fucked (very censored).

  • @KHooksMixer hair was 70s not 60s unless well maybe early seventies

  • @Jbirdrules3818 then why is the song like "Welcome to the 60's"? and not 70's?

  • @Jbirdrules3818 Hair is in the 1960s, you can google if you want

  • 1:42 se le fue el aire!

  • Censoring "The bitch of living" literally killed it...

  • @NightmaresDaydream Literally? You can't literally kill anyone on television, you'd get arrested.

  • @DeltaKilo3

Oh god, sorry.^^ Do never try to write something in another language when its around 4 am and you haven't slept all night. :)

  • @KHookMixer

no it doesnt... Spring Awakening actually reflects 19th century Germany... but okay XD lol

  • It's funny how thiers always a play to reflect the times in America and the World. West Side Story-1950's, Hair and Hairspray-1960's, RENT 80's-90's, and now Spring Awakening 00's.lol.Gotta love musical.

  • John jumping at 2:43 , oh god how it person affects me.

  • Haha I love John Gallagher Jrs facial expressions! I <3 him!

  • This censorship is ironic for the show and hilarious.

  • lea michelle before glee

  • 3:11 Jon Groff sings this to call his goats.

  • @MemoriesofMelodies HAHAHA omfg did u see the interview on broadway.com where sutton foster licks his face and he freaks?

  • I love that they can say "bitch" but they cant say "work that silver magic and aim it at the wall" or "breasts" haha

  • I had a dream I was performing "Bitch of Living" in front of my school and was jumping up and down on the chairs until I bust my head open... literally :(...

  • I love this show! These are some other great Spring Awakening videos I have recently found! vimeo. com/33432034 (take out the space before the "com")

  • Hold on, they're allowed to say Bitch but not Fucked? Um.

  • @vivienneandfred You can't say Fucked on network television.

Bitch is much tamer than Fucked.

  • JONATHAN GROFF!!

  • 1:39 what everyone wants

  • leah michelle looks soooooooooooooo pretty here like omg its crazy

  • 1:46 why did he do that

  • JGJ was so out of breath :D

  • I get pooped on every time Jonathan Groff starts singing and it isn't the original words :/

  • Loves it! My drama school is doing this musical and I'm Ilse!

  • My high school just presented the first school pilot of this and it was amazing

  • Best. musical. ever.

  • seeing this performance was magical for me. ive been in a few broadway productions, but this touched me in a different way than others do. it really made me realized many things i didnt think about with accepting each other for the way they are and want to be. this was very unique and special. i can see why everyone loved it.

  • If you're in Toronto, come see the Toronto Youth Theatre's production of Spring Awakening running from Wednesday November 19 - Saturday November 26. It'll be awesome, trust me. Get tickets here: tytspringawakening.eventbrite. com

  • Am I being stupid, or are there two Ilse's on stage during Totally Fucked? Confusing...

  • i think TV censorship is totally fucked

  • @AllysonFournier I do love their revised lyrics, though. Cracked me up!

  • i just love how even when they changed the lyrics they were still able to put that level of energy into their performing

  • So saying bitch is okay, but fucked and ass isn't?

    *does not understand the censoring

  • @jasmlim Because bitch is an actual word you would find in a dictonary. The other words are considered

    profanity.

  • @liduck52 you can find fuck and shit in the dictionary

  • My friend recommended this musical to me. I bought it and completely pushed it aside. I hated it.

Um... Thanks friend for recommended the best musical EVER! I have been listening to Touch Me atleast 16 times today.. I LOVEEE this. Doesn't even compare to any other.

Bravo Johnathan Groff, Lea Michelle, and John Gallagher Jr.

  • AMAZING.

  • omg i have an issue... im in love with Moritz... like madly in love and there is nothing i can do about it.... </3

  • Blah? Lol

  • Moritz's hair :)

  • Kick a*s! Go Girls!

  • whoever says lea michele sings with autotune needs to see this. pure talent. love her and jonathon <3

  • I was going to give this musical a chance. I search it up and I see Lea Michele. Great...

  • @iSingTheChanges ...and what's so bad about that?

  • I saw this in broadway in 2007 in a highscool trip. It was awesome

  • Comment removed

  • so...they can say bitch on live TV but not the real lyrics to the song??

  • I love this musical. Lea Michele has a great voice, but her weird ass face is really distracting. I hope she gets off of TV.

  • @ConoR177 ...Right. Because god forbid you actually judge someone based on talent, rather than their natural looks. -____-

  • I just don't get why they'd censor it so heavily. There's no point to censoring theater. All it does is completely devalue it. Theater is not PC and it is not for people who want something soft. It's hard and it's truth. And that's also the ENTIRE point of Spring Awakening. So I'm not understanding why they'd allow themselves to be censored so heavily. Or why anyone who hands out prestigious awards for excellence in theater would even THINK of censoring them so heavily.

  • @RCRobVlogs It's the network doing the censoring, not the people who give out the awards.

  • @RCRobVlogs preach

  • Why censor f**k when you don't bother censor b**th? Just sayin' :P

  • are they awarethat leas dress is partly see-through?

  • @dancingqueen01993 ...Yes haha. That's part of the entire point.

  • Thumbs up if you liked Lea before-oh who cares i luv Lea know and thats all that matters! Thanks Glee for introducing me to the best thing to happen to Broadway! <333

  • bah! the lyrics are different!! It's their fault for choosing a musical that has swearing and sex stuff in it. don't choose Spring Awakening if you are going to change the lyrics!! But man, I still do love it!

  • Damn censorship... Why not just have then sing something you won't have to change half the lyrics to?

  • I love Glee...but they make everyone dislike Leah Michelle because her character is so stuck up, no one knows how talented she really is, unless they knew her from Spring Awakening or Pre-Glee performances

  • omg !! i fell in love with this song since the very first moment i heard it !!

  • @coolirishrocker if youre still interested i got the mp3 of this a year after your inquiry but hey :)

  • @MarieClaire2405 teenagers who don't know musicals and I say this as a teenager who watches musical clips for fun. I would totally know if you were Wendla, screw being a "typical teenager" if people can dress as X-Men or movie characters you can totally be a groundbreaking broadway character.

  • JESSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I wanted to dress as Wendla for Halloween...my friends said i was crazy because people wouldn't know what was my costume, I love this musical, it's my favorite and I can't explain how much I relate to it but apparently other teenagers like me don't

  • I was wondering if someone can sort of explain the point of Spring Awakening, the plot and such you know? I saw it years ago but since I was a bit too innocent and young, I didn't understand it. And now I've forgotten the experience =\

  • @ColorGuardEqualsLife It's basically a 'coming of age' story, where parents keep their children sheltered which causes the main conflicts in it (suicide, pregnancy, abortion) I recommend seeing it again if it comes around by you!

  • @ColorGuardEqualsLife wikipedia! :D Lol

  • sorry i didnt mean musicals, i meant to write broadway. just replace musicals with broadway.

  • i love musical theatre, , like Les Miserables, and Oliver,Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story RENT, Spring Awakening, Next to Normal, Wicked, and Billy Elliot Musical create, for me at least, a deeper emotion and greater range of thought than film or television or even music. There is alot more substance to theatre in general than in movies. more...magic, more humour, at the oscars, present present present. at the tonys, performance, talent, music, dance, acting, costumes, magic.

  • @KyleOgilvie1 I couldn't agree more. When I get in a terrible mood for no reason, I listen to songs from Next to Normal there's a Rent song for practically ever mood, and some songs are just fun. The stories are amazing and just, like you said, magic.

  • @sighcantthinkofaname i agree.all in all 10 muscals have some sort of meaning to me: Evita (1st musical ever listened to), Aida (amazing score), West Side Story (1st musical movie i saw and liked), Next To Normal (beyond fantastic, Into the Woods (magical), Les Mis (best musical), Billy Elliot (first musical i saw in ten years on y 19th birthday), Rent (Beautiful story), Spring Awakening (amazing meaning), and Wicked is my favourite because the songs mean something to me, esp. Defying Gravity.

  • @KyleOgilvie1 that's pretentious, saying that a performance style is better than other is like comparing chocolate cake with a steak, there is just no point.

  • sexy

  • A part of it bothers me, because they had to censor so much. I mean, the show itself is about the dangerous consequences of censoring the truth from teenagers. But at least they were able to censor it without completely destroying the songs.

  • I love how on their song list on the chalk board in the background, they capitalized "Bitch" in the BITCH of living haha xD

  • It's odd how they can say "bitch" but not "work that silver magic", haha.

  • TOTTALY (Blank) lololol

  • It's funny because they had to change so many of the lyrics.

  • lea looks absolutely stunning here!

  • i like jonathons fro <3

  • one million ;)

  • Soon to be a million views! well deserved :)

  • JD

  • I prefer Lea M at this stage in her career. She seems a bit diva-ish in her singing now.

  • Zach Braff! :'D

Oh yeah, and Lea Michelle and Jonathon Graff too <3

  • jonathan groff and lea michele!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (cue fangirl screaming)

  • "with my teacher and her...chest."

  • Tottally off topic. But who is the guy that introduces them. I recognise him x

  • @LABWTS24 He is Zach Braff, he played J.D in Scrubs, stared in some very good movies

  • I feel so lucky to have seen the original cast of Spring Awakening. Wish it had a longer run :(

  • Jonathon Groff is Better on Broadway..

  • i love the possessed kind of movement they do toward the end on the chairs.

  • @rhidiculousrhiannon It's a faster version of what Lea does in the beginning during "Mama Who Bore Me."

  • love this video... :)

  • All of the words in Bitch of Living are different. What. -_- Stupid censoring.

  • @LizzieBananas I know, right? The funny thing is that in this, they edited out 'breasts' and 'ass' but left in 'bitch'. Like... what?

  • 1:24 And I thought Lea Michele had a big mouth... Damn.

  • Is Zach Braff the one hosting the show?

  • lea Michelle and johnothon Geoff...oh yes!

  • so many tv people are from broadway or vies versa

  • soooo last century

  • This is so amazing. Truly. So inspiring.

  • Anybody else hope Lea Michele goes back to Broadway? I like her on Glee, but stuff like this just lets her voice shine so much more.....

  • ahhh censorship...they can say bitch but they can't talk about working that siver magic or letting those apples fall ;)

  • Jonathan is so friggin' sexy :D

  • I just found out that I am Melchior in a youth theatre show of this =D can't wait to start!!!

  • Lea looks absolutely gorgeous as well.

  • Lea is a star! She is just really talented. I also really like jonathon and John. They are really brilliant. But lea is my just amazing. She was fantastic live.

  • So sad they changed the lyrics for TV lol

  • @j2b2hevuwsqi You mean US television ;)

  • This deffinatly kicks glee ass. She was so much better then.

  • can't take my eyes of Lea Michele...

  • the best part about taking my theater class, was learning about this musical

  • This costume on Wendla...reminds me of what Rachel Berry wears. Guess RB was inspired by Lea in the clothing department too :D

  • Seriously? Sensoring the lyrics of a musical is ridiculous! Okay, sensoring anything is ridiculous, but that's just... sad. SA is about young people becoming aware of their sexuality and growing up, despite their parents' efforts to keep them just as naive as they'd like them to be. And sensoring such a musical... I don't know... seems wrong to me.

  • @RoibenRocks I feel similar about this musical. If ever I had the chance to see it, I'd take it. However, it just doesn't seem right to make a happy musical out of "Frühlings Erwachen" ... dunno why, it's just not working in my head.

Still, I can't say anything against these performers. They sing very well, and Lea Michele is one talented singer. Probably I'd see just because of her ^^

  • @buddytheoc

It's not a happy musical at all, the songs they showed were the ones that would best be suited for the mainstage, because this show is traditionally done in theatre of the round, and everyone is close.. the emotions feel much stronger when you're that close. Have you ever listened to the soundtrack? it's very good, and frustrated.. it's wonderful

  • @paulamerica9493 well, frankly I haven't listened to all the songs, probably to half of them. And I liked them - really! and I do believe that the whole musical is great. However, if you have read the original play, you just cannot imagine the whole thing as a musical. It's too dark, too shocking to be a musical. Probably if I had the chance to see the whole musical, I'd be able to change my mind. It seems interesting, though.

  • @buddytheoc i've read the whole play, and i like each equally. i was introduced first to the musical, so i think i have a special attachment to the songs. but, i agree, a lot of the characters were removed from the original, and a lot of the plots were thinned to fit the format of a musical. is it still an amazing musical, hell to the yes! you should listen to all of it, it's an emotional journey!

  • @RoibenRocks The irony is not lost on the rest of us :( stupid censors!

  • the things I would do to Jonathan Groff...

  • Well. This pretty much sums up high school.

  • I LOVE YOU MORITZ!

  • 3:18 GERARD CANONICO!!!

  • JENNIFER DAMIANO, I LOVE YOU.

  • jagger mouth

  • wow these women are giving me goose bumps!

  • Lea's voice is so stunning. It's a shame that they have to compress it so much in the studio for Glee. I mean, she sounds great on that show but... her voice is SOOOO much bigger than we hear on Glee and this clip is proof of that. She's just... gahhh. I love her.

  • first show that got me to watch the tony's...this musical just 'does' it for me, in ways no other has ever even came close to..thank you so much spring awakening for being absolutely, astonishingly, amazing!!!

    !

  • They changed a LOT of the words...

  • Who's that playing Ilse? It's not Lauren Pritchard, I don't think...

  • I love how they sing Totally Fucked, but can't say Fucked. What is the point? I love Spring Awakening, though. :L <3

  • Probably a stupid question, but Lea doesn't have a mic at the start, how is her voice being heard?

  • @whoknows2007 Yes she has one, it exceeds on her forehead but on the video it's just invisible :) watch some Wicked live performance, you'll see :)

  • most obnoxious female cast ever ick!

  • It wasn't the raunchy language or sexually explicit content that bothered me. The music and performances just weren't up to my standard. It did not make me smile. However I did notice most of the younger audience members enjoying it. Perhaps I'm just an old fogey. To compare I thoroughly enjoyed "Anything Goes" so that gives you an idea of what I like in a musical.
