That car would be 53 years old, assuming that it was driven even 20 years means it was in the wrecking yard for over 30 years. If it was not claimed by then, and nobody wanted parts from it, why should they keep the thing around? They are in the SCRAP business, not storage. Even if they paid people to strip the car of all good parts, how long should they hold onto the parts only to have a buyer decide the condition is not good enough? What is with destroying classic America? It's almost as bad as terrorism! That old beauty was not hurting the environment, it was just waiting to be restored. Someone would have really taken pride in that old car. Old cars like this are being destroyed everyday, and it needs to be stopped. Was a guy in Colorado that did stuff like this. He had a stash of very rare old muscle cars. Just to get a rise out of people, he would chop them up and display them out in front of his property where the main highway ran, so people could see his handy work.
Last I heard, his property had been seized by the county. Something having to do with a meth addiction problem he had been busted for. I imagine all the cars not destroyed by him yet got crushed by the county. Carma said hello to him...

This was not an Electra 2 door hardtop, it was an Invicta 4 door sedan. Most folks could care less if you crushed a shell, but the extra half an hour it would have taken you to remove some hard to find parts would have helped out a lot of people. Instead of making and extra 3,000 in those few parts, you made about 40 cents in the weight of those parts.

@Steverinomeister - Me too, I need a set of front fender trims for my '59 Buick. I bought a complete 1959 Impala parts car for $400 in central PA 2 years ago which is a reasonable price. I sold 8 pre-1964 cars on ebay and started every one at ONE dollar. Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay, whatever I got for the car was its real value not some fantasy land value.

Was a guy in Colorado that did stuff like this. He had a stash of very rare old muscle cars. Just to get a rise out of people, he would chop them up and display them out in front of his property where the main highway ran, so people could see his handy work.
Last I heard, his property had been seized by the county. Something having to do with a meth addiction problem he had been busted for. I imagine all the cars not destroyed by him yet got crushed by the county. Carma said hello to him...

Ok so what if it's rusty? You fix that. You left vintage plates on it...hello those are valuable. People who actually care about classic cars and preserving them still use those on their cars. So what if it was a 4 door?! I love 4 doors, they're just as cool. And wagons...man those are just as sweet. You shouldnt crush classics, just pos hondas and toyotas. There are tons of parts on that tons of people would want.

I bought a 1959 Buick (a fully optioned Electra) in better condition by 3 fold for $1200 in December 2010, and you expected to get $1500? This was not an Electra 2 door hardtop, it was an Invicta 4 door sedan. Most folks could care less if you crushed a shell, but the extra half an hour it would have taken you to remove some hard to find parts would have helped out a lot of people. Instead of making and extra 3,000 in those few parts, you made about 40 cents in the weight of those parts.

Secondly your money is not tied up in these cars.Thirdly we hold on to these vintage cars as long as possible (60-90 days) to sell them to collecters or people looking to fix up a vintage car. If you so called collecters or restoration people are too cheap to fork out $1000 - $1500 for a car or parts car thats not our problem. We even took the time to get this car running.

@Steverinomeister - Me too, I need a set of front fender trims for my '59 Buick. I bought a complete 1959 Impala parts car for $400 in central PA 2 years ago which is a reasonable price. I sold 8 pre-1964 cars on ebay and started every one at ONE dollar. Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay, whatever I got for the car was its real value not some fantasy land value.

i sold this car on e bay 3 times. everybody wanted it but nobody wanted to pay for it .i run a small scrap yard and can't have cars sitting around for weeks.i'm sorry that it had to be crushed. but it did.i got a nice 53 dodge meadowbrook 4 door going up for a thousand this week and a 73 mach 1 mustang also for a thousand.i'm listing them once and then you know.....

@3736116r -While I certainly don't live on ebay, so I didn't see them if you had them posted- those backup lights alone could be a few hundred dollars in usable condition, not to mention the stainless trim, all of which are made of unobtainium to a 59 owner. Do some homework and venture beyond just ebay and maybe you would have made a lot more $.
