bailey was hurt and couldn't play. he didn't play a game in bridgeport. if tavares needs to develop in bridgeport then it was a waste of a pick and should have gone with nhl ready hedman. tavares will play day 1 and be the face of the franchise for years to come.

maybe, but what i said is that it doesnt always work like that, hes probably not gonna be at the coliseum on the 1st line, or for that matter, on long island on opening night, but then again, if the islanders are DESPERATE enough, you can expect tavares to be a 3rd liner... on opening day at the coliseum

Again, he is not 20, he cant go to Bridgeport. He has to play for the Isles for a full season or the London Knights for a full season. He cant play in the minors

do you really think, looking at the isles roster right now, that tavares will go to bridgeport..or back to london for that matter? i'm convinced that he'll make the team...probably even the first line..but we'll see about that..I'm not an isles fan but i would like to see him making an impact in his rookie year...oh and nice vid :D

I see your point about Tavares, they need a scorer and it isnt exactly easy to get a scorer on the Island. From a marketing standpoint this also makes sense because they need to put asses in seats and they need somebody to rally around because DP isnt the guy, dont get me wrong he is a good goalie but not top 10 or a franchise player. Also Tavares cant go to Bridgeport because you need to be 20 to play in the AHL, so it is either Knights or the Isles, He will make the Isles first line easy.

you know, there was no clause in DiPietro's 15 year contract foreshadowing recurring hip and knee injuries, at the time, he was supposed to be the franchise player

The 15 year contract was a mistake to begin with. Im not a huge fan of these 10 year + deals being handed out now. There is alot of pressure on him still, got to remember they traded Luongo and passed on Heatley and Gaborik for this guy.

Nice video man, Tavrares may not be the best player right now, but he has the potential to be the best player in this years draft, I still feel Hedman is safer. Hedmans skillset is rarer to find in a draft and with a weak defensive free agency the Isles will have to wait a couple more years to make the playoffs

The Islanders first need good scorers and defense that can really defend and attack the net. Tavares and Hedman fit both.
