I am a new brewer. I had a real hard time getting started. My house is too cold in \winter whn I started. My kt took off in the spring--now my favorite flavor is called AGED. I gave my 1st successful brew to dad in April and he never drank any after I left. I went back in Aug, & tied some of that old brew. Verdict: It was WONDERFUL. I hd flavord it w/ginger & had tasted it in April and the taste in Aug was not even close. Now I am trying to get myself built up so I can let brews age long, too.
I am definitely trying this.. I am a KOMBUCHAHOLIC!! plus.. I am always trying to find ways to improve the quality of my hair. I just did a video on my natural haircare tips.. I never thought of adding kombucha to the list! Keep up the great videos :)
Awesome information in your video. I was recently introduced to Kombucha Tea but didn't know how to use it for the hair. Now I can't wait to get my tea going so I can try it. I have VERY fine, fragile hair and I hope it will help strengthen it. CAN'T WAIT!
nice video ;0) Did you know you can soak your hair with kombucha tea one's a week and it leaves hair soft and helps with damage hair.keep up the hard work like some girls say YOU GO BOY!!! haha :0)
I'd love more details too. i haven't made kombucha before but am going to try this - my only issue is that i don't have anyone to pass the babies on to. any suggestions as to what i can do with these?
@ILoveValenciaOranges You will want to keep your first several, bcuz the thicker the scoby, the more beneficial bacteria in a brew. Then slice up for dog chews or advertise on freecycle or craigslist. Talk to people about kt and you will drum up some interest that way, too.
Great job Dave, as usual! But a recipe needs proportions lol - how about it? No need to redo the vid but maybe adding it in the description or notes would be awesome!!
Love the video. Very informative and funny. Both my kids & I laughed out load at the blender part. Going to try this as soon as I get another scoby. Keep the video's coming!
Someone told me once that kombucha could be used as a hair tonic. Its good to finally get instructions on exactly how to make it. Seems simple enough.
I'm from Mexico City. I got my Kombucha culture from a friend. It is great. I have asked and shown it to many friends if they have heard about this "mushroom". Some of them are asking me if this mushroom is the same as the "mother" to make vinegar. I do not know what to say. Do you or anybody know if the Kombucha mushroom and the mushroom to make vinegar are the same?
wow! this is the best info on how to use kombucha for other stuff I have seen on the entire internet.. man you are freaking awesome.. I am going to tell everyone about these videos!!
Dave, you crack me up. I love watching your videos...and I learn so much, too! Oh, You should have shown your hair marinating in the KT tonic. Looking forward to trying the recipe.
also, you should sell empty bottles and commercial caps on your site for bottling. you could probably work out a deal with magic bullet to distribute those through your site also lol. feel free to shoot me a discount for my consultation. i am interested in the deluxe :)
great video dude... my ONLY complaint is that the subject of the videos should be the actual subject of the videos contents. for example... this video could be "GETKOMBUCHA hair tonic"... the last video coul be "GETKOMBUCHA marinade" instead of both being named "GETKOMBUCHA". it will make them easier to find, category, and reference in favorites.
Hey! You said to comment on the video, so that's what I'm doing! Thanks so much for putting it online, it was very enjoyable, and you are very personable. Peace, love, and respect!
Cool, I think I'll also add some brewed rosemary tea (steeped overnight)...

Yes, I would also like to know approximate proportions of each ingredient.
You are fun to watch your a hoot!
I heard you can dry a Scoby & give it to you dog or cat as a treat, is this true?
stgadgetgirl 1 year ago
@stgadgetgirl You can give it to them live. Don't dry it out. It's very good for animals.

As always, a pleasure to watch and I love your tips.
Thanks Dave!

Looks great. I have the same questions as others have posted:
1. Use it as shampoo or rinse?
2. Approximate proportions of each ingredient.
3. Thanks, your videos are always fun and informative!

I don't really need to use this, but I do like the idea that kombucha and scoby can be used for other things besides a delicious drink!

Great idea, but my scoby is way too big, so what are your suggestions? Also, what amount of each ingredient should you use?
