When I was driving my mazda 3 I dumped a ridiculous amount of money into it (headers, exhaust, etc.) and the car was pushing probably close to 300 hp when all was said and done (car stock was about 160hp). With all the money I used I could have bought a brand new V6 honda accord coupe that had pretty much the same amount of hp... but hey that's what modding is for I guess, to make something unique no one else has.
not bad. i used to race a '71 catalina sleeper. i used the 3-28's rule. 28 psi rear tires, .028 drilled carb jets, 28 degrees full advance. dual exhaust w/ glass, and squoze out consistent 13's in the 1/4. was a fun car.
Yeah its fast, but why would you put all of that wrench time into such a piece of shit car? i mean the engine in great I'll hand him that, but dynamically speaking you could have chosen a car that is much more arrow dynamic then that.

I'm a Ford Crown Vic guy myself which means I'm not fond of the B-body but I gotta admit that is pretty cool. Although I'm surprised you had to put as big of an engine in there to get the horses....I would have just maybe cammed an LS9 and worked from there....although it's testament to "there's no replacement for displacement." I'm not against tuners, but they're probably the worst when it comes to "all noise and no power". To many people out there that think a performance exhaust system is gonna make their cars like the ones in Fast and the Furious.
@BlakeRTyler You can get a stainless header with piping (complete system front to back) for 300$ on the web and install it for under 100$ and it will solve issues from cracked manifolds that worth 300$ at the dealer (not including catalytic conv. and the rest of the line). Sometimes this noisy choice is a good decision over buying stock.
@MrYoanEmond No doubt. I wasn't saying performance exhaust systems were bad. I was merely telling turbo3oh that there are more imports out there with loud exhaust and poor performance compared to domestics. Also trying to point out to him that just an exhaust doesn't make your car fast. It takes a lot more than that. Oh, and you the installation for those headers are free if you do it yourself ;) I've got some ceramic coated long tube headers on my 77 Z28 right now. Need to switch to shorties...
@turbo3oh why are all these people on here talking about it being slow??? a car that weighs well over 2 tons should take about 9 to 10 seconds to get to 60mph... he gets to 122 in just over 10 seconds. btw what do you drive thats any quicker than that?? not fighting just asking
How is this setup as a DD? I've got an 85 305 wagon that's my DD that I'm looking to put a bit of work into. Nothing as quick as 10's but maybe 12's... Just enough to where I won't get rear ended coming onto the freeway lol. I was thinking about an LT1 but your 454 is a beast.
@SVPrelude IMHO, you can't beat the Marine version of the Goodwrench 502. Chevy went to a 496, so a little hunting around might get you a decent score on a leftover.. Just don't shop in a boat shop/catalog etc. Say boat and price doubles. Of course it all come down to budget, sigh. Good Luck.

why would this station wagon weigh 4700 pounds? Even assuming you added alot with the engine (doubtful) its only like a 4200 pound car stock. Surely you did some weight reduction?
on these wagons the gvwr is 6,005 lb, 1650lb is the load limit which leaves the curb weight at approx. 4355, and hoping you did some weight reduction you should beable to get it down around 4000 easy. So unless you are hauling led blocks down the track with you theres no way it weights 4700.
