Why do they have PA speakers at these events ?Organisers-we cant hear jack shit .Give up.Its like trying to have a conversation at a Steel Foundry .Nice vid=o tho
I guess that some people know what all the aircraft are and just enjoy the sight and sound of them, especially at this show with several restored aircraft and engines (rotary engines etc), but probably the majority need to be told about the planes, their history, and what i happening etc.
@Kahu1958 Are those actually restored aircraft, or new ones made to original specifications? Since there is a company that makes DH2's according to original specs, seems to me that would be the better way to go. Same history lesson and you likely don't have your 95 year old wood plane fall apart at 12,000 feet.
Just looked at my close-up still photos taken at this airshow and the engine is appears to be a Radial, although a bit more modern looking than the original would.
moving to the Philippines where there is lots of craftsman and high quality timber available at great prices any aircraft builders out there with experiance building
WW1 aircraft interested in building airframes for the world market.
And I thought I have to move into the US of A to Build an Albatros D.III(I live in the Philippines Its actualy hard to find some craftsmen that even know about aircraft)
All remaining DH2's were scrapped after the war and were lost in time. There was one man that took the DH2 blueprints and replaced all of the wooden parts with metal for greater durability, sadly he died before he could get much flying time with that which he created. The DH2 in that video was based off his design, and there are only a handful or less of them built today.
Looks like they have the AC parachutes instaled if so good Idea

A brilliant bit of inspiration building the DH5, rather than building squadrons of Dr1's & SE5's, nice to see something a bit more unusual

At this years airshow there were several WW1 aircraft, and several more being restored.
this years show included a restored BE2 and Avro 504K. Plus two Fokker DR1's and a D7, Sopwith camel, Neiuport 11and others.

Nice but unless I miss my guess that DH2 is sporting an inline engine pretending to be a rotary. Nice none the less. GG

Except that if you watch the move (above) and esp. near the end when it is taxing you will note the radial engine is not rotating...
GrumblingGrognard 3 years ago
I see. It is a Radial engine, which does not rotate, not a Rotary engine as many planes of that era had where the cylinders rotated.

Until I see them flying, I am always sure to know the difference between beauty and crap. Now I am not...

Read about these when I was a kiddo - never imagined I'd live to see one fly! A salute to Lanoe Hawker, and the rest...

Cool. I'd love to fly one of them Sopwith Camels or Albatross fighters. Of course,I'd need to get a pilot's license first.
