John Pilger is one of the great documentarians/humanists of our age. He is also a socialist -- a designation that we're supposed to be ashamed of these days (at least, that's what we're told by those who consider themselves our "betters").

I recommend Pilger's books (check amazon) & the authors Pilger himself admires, such as William Blum. Blum's book Killing Hope is THE Bible of CIA atrocities since WW2, a list that includes Australian PM Whitlam's ouster in 1975.

He was on the team that re-investigated the Kennedy assassination in the 1960's and came out supporting the "official" line of a lone gunman. For me the litmus test is 911. He employs exactly the same techniques he describes in "manufacturing consent" and refuses to engage in any debate regarding 911 as an inside job. He won't even debate whether the government allowed it to happen never mind them doing it.

Whether you think 911 was an inside job or not there is still very good reason to debate and re-investigate as the official story is full of holes and inconsistencies. Half of the people on the 911 commission report now state that they were systematically frustrated in conducting a thorough investigation. He refuses point blank to discuss it. This is worrying. He also works for MIT which receives a huge amount of military funding, another cause for concern.

John Pilger is one the last great remaining investigative journalists left. I am very glad you brought this up, because he spares noone...and especially not the poltical elites on either side of the ponds. Pilger is essential reading, if you ever want to understand foreign policy, if you want to find out who the true players are within it, and the crimes committed in our own names, time and time again on a massive scale. It is a very sobering account, indeed.
