  • Love the vocals on this version. The chorus(or the part where it is on the other version) could do with a complete work over, though :/.

  • what a tiny plane lol

  • @EinStriker yeah, it's longer and has a chorus, and the vocals are clearer. To me it's not as good though :p

  • Hey anyone know where i could get this in canada

  • Great ♥

  • By The Way is the name of this song

the early version of in transit rigth?

  • I love this song. It's really amazing what a great musician albert hammond jr is. At first listen he music just sounds cool but the more you hear it the more you fall in love with its full, incredible sound. I don't care for his singing that much that who knew that a guitarist from one of the best bands 90s/2000s would also be such a remarkable songwriter.

  • the strokes the best of word

  • in the movie in transit whats the song that plays like 2 minutes in when its introducing people?

  • its an instrumental version of "Everyone gets a star." by Albert Hammond Jr

  • i like this version better

  • yeah i love the vocals here better than the official version

  • @superdog318 there is anoter? =S

  • @superdog318 yeah the fuzzy version is so much better <4

  • was this song ment to be from the strokes?

  • yes

  • este video esta super chiiin.....on

  • this is obstinate by the strokes it is just an earlier version of the song

  • He's that using that filter effect that Julian uses. This is really cool, but a bit short and it doesn't have the 'By the way she looked' bit. Still awesome though

  • great this version is amazing.. and those guys are so cool.. i <3 the strokes.. chillin' with bikes.. xD

  • Anyone know where I can find this version of the song?

I don't like the one on the cd much.

  • its on [she's fixing her hair (dot) com]

  • Limewire.

    That's where I go it from. :/

  • Oye Adriel, gracias por la recomendación, como siempre me pone loca tu buen gusto musical...Te quiero y espero verte pronto, México y yo te esperamos...Besitos, muuaa!!

  • Thank you for uploading this song-- I love it-- have you heard the live version from 893thecurrent? So good.

Check out my channel if you get a chance.

  • this is the awesomeness

    I love this song

  • wow this song rules. that chorus gives me chills and wuthaveyous.

  • i think this song is peferct when you are lost and confused, maybe it dont help you a lot but after all, is one of my favourites songs of albert, the other is scared.

  • This songs really good. i love the strokes after listening to this im gonna go DL alber hammonds solo album

  • cool...wish i have that dvd...maybe for christmas...hmmmm....

  • SERIOUS SONG!!

  • this song makes me feel so damn nostalgic...

  • @wasp2020 2 year old comment. god, i love you.

  • albert hammond jr....

  • strokes dvd? Where can this be purchased?

  • hahahaha nooooo! its Kimya Dawson singing!! dont u see its a girl??? on the album version its albert ok

  • Wikipedia mentions that Sean Lennon (awesome musician and son of John lennon) did some background vocals, piano, and bass guitar for "in transit" can anyone tell me the link of the song with Sean's vocals and piano with it? I can tell that this one dosen't have piano or background vocals

  • yes he did it, but no in this version. He did it on the albert hammond's solo version

  • and he also did it in a lot of songs of the album

  • Does anyone know where I can find this version of the song? I've looked all over limewire and I can't find it..

  • I can msn it. Just send me a pm

I was sent this record by a record label :)

  • I like you, scomp

  • I don't see what the hate on First Impressions is about, it's still a fine album.

  • yea i agree with the people below. the 3rd album was not the strokes i know and love. good, but so not them.

  • aimie46 is an idiot. this is the strokes version of it. they came up with it originally.

  • yeah whatever ..i know fuck all bout who wrote it but atleast i like the song. who gives a fuck if i dont know who worte it originally.

  • youre right aimie...the only thing that matters is that it is meaningful to you. anyone who jumps all over you for something like that is obviously preoccupied with their own bullshit and elitism to just enjoy the art.

in transit was conceived, performed, and written by albert hammond, jr., KUDOS, you dingleberry. Yes, that is his voice. Yes, you are wrong. I'm sure in your world, you are correct in any situation you involve yourself in, and that's what makes you such a pest.

  • thank you scomp for the reply, i heard albert was going solo so i looked on here. this song came up so i assumed it was him and someone had put this footage to the song.thanks again for the backup-aimie46

  • no problem aimie. Some people just need to be put in their place. This video is actually the end of the IN TRANSIT dvd that The Strokes released to their fan club, which is coincidentally named In Transit. You can find it on here if you search for In Transit.

At the time, the name of in transit was obstinate. There's also some early versions of other Albert songs in the dvd, check it out.

  • thanks scomp for the info. im glad some people on here can be helpful and dont jump all over you for liking a certain band or not knowing much about them

  • wow,i didnt try and find solo stuff by albert by now i have i cant stop listening to his stuff.. awesome just like the strokes but with an extra twist to it fucking awesome!!

  • i prefer this version to the 1 one the album - on the album there r lyrics 4 the bit where the strings come in - the melody he sings makes it sound 2 minor - also the guitar tone is a little better . ps. cunt does not mean shut the fuck up.

  • the song its called in transit and its performed by albert hammond jr

  • this song is better than any song on the strokes 3rd album

  • sadly it is quite true... but i still like the 3rd album too! it's just not as good as the other 2. shit, that rhymed...

  • ain't that the truth

  • I'm so excited about it! :) The songs sound awesome, I especially like "Scared".

  • myspace dot com slash alberthammondjr

  • Who woulda thunk it... Go Albert, go!

  • hey

albert is gonna release a solo album this year...

  • poorlittlerichboy, in an interview with adam green, adam green jokingly said albert was gonna release a solo album, he was not being serious.

  • This son is fucking good!!

    Albert, u are the best!

  • whos singing obstinate? Smashing Pumpkins kicks ass

  • i think albert is singing b/c he's coming out with an album. no joke.

  • what a pity they didn't take this song that seriously. cos it definitely is to me, their greatest song ever written, hands down.

  • Whoa, instrumentally reminds me of The Smashing Pumpkins.

  • this song is so beautiful, i wish i could download it!!

  • what an awesome song! listen to it & love it

  • the song is either called obstinate, albert's song, or in transit song. and it's supposed to be albert, but my friend has a version where at the beginning it says it's nikolai! and then it starts playing. who knows

  • well, i've been thinking about the vocals, and it does actually not sound exactly like albert's voice. it's (albs version) been played quite a lot here in sweden, and i have to say that it sounds different...

  • I love this song ever, their voice sang by albert too?

  • Whos singing?

  • Great song man, great song.

  • Hm, do you know what this song is called?
