  • now honda should now start making hydrogen stations and making different varies of cars with affordable prices and global warming will be gone.

  • Kool but then we wont have awesome car sounds nd extreme fast car either

  • wow this is great. hydrogen is pretty much a perfect solution, expecially if the only output is water. i know the amount of water put out is rather small, but it not only is not bad for the environment, but essentially, GOOD! minus building the car or course. once they make this the norm there will certainly fast ones. my god will i miss the noise of engines one day though... happy and sad

  • We'll need both Hydrogen and Electric cars, for more choices when we eventually run out of finite fossil fuels. Use more renewable energy. If we find out a better or greener way to extract hydrogen it'll be fantastic.

  • @ale03000 Hydrogen cars are electric cars.

  • @alxcsb I mean the ones with Lithium Ion batteries like the Nissan Leaf. They are good and getting better but still have some disadvantages such as high cost, long charging time, and limited mileage.

  • When they say it costs as much as gas how much is that per gallon and liter for real.gas is $5 a gallon US, hydrogen can't cost taht much. I mean they would have no excuse to say hydrogen prices are going up becasue of a war in the middle east

  • @MaddDogg81 your right, the problem in the future when we are not relying on oil from the middle east is that the middle east will invade the usa so hydrogen prices will rise.

  • hahahahaha pervert cameraman @ 01:53

  • hahaha "prius! sucka!"

  • Yeah, overpriced coal powered cars like this one will save the Earth!

  • One of the best Top Gear reviews.

  • @David1994Daly I think it is the best review :).

  • Imagine having solar panels at home it would b FREE energy...it practically wont cost u anything to drive it...plus u can heat and power ur home for free..and again i understand solar panels cant generate that kind of power right now...but after these technologies improve it would be possible...we just need to start buying these products so they can improve...

  • @Sniki3 they already have cars like that also... they dont work.

  • These guys r wrong! The thing I don't like about this idea is that it has the same philosophy as gas engines.u have to PAY for ur energy which is limited, even tho hydrogen is the most abundant element its still limited.Electric cars have the potential to be the BEST.I understand that currently batteries dont get much mile per charge but as battery technology improves in storage, size, weight.U can bump the 300MPC to500 then1000 and so on.Imagine having solar panels at home it would b FREE energy

  • does anyone know the piano piece at 0:49?

I had to write a report on the FCX Clarity for my 1st year technology context. Its really different and new from any other car. It is more energy efficient, lighter and quieter than an average car. The best thing bout it, is zero % carbon emission. It was award the World Green Car of 2008. If only there were more hydrogen stations all over the world.

  • well, its better than a prius. and it leaves enough fuel for all our mustangs, camaro's, lambo's, ferrari's etc :)

  • Leno makes good sense. for a back-stabbing traitor. "That's a bit redundant", I hear you say. and my answer is: LENO IS NOT ANY GOOD AS A TALK SHOW HOST AND SHOULD HAVE LEFT HIS PLACE TO COCO! nuf said.

  • we should use weed as alternative fuel and put the exhaust pipe to the interior of the car XD

  • My Prius is very attractive, Jay.

  • Jay has a great point....

  • this technology is a total waste. Just use GAS while we still have it and relax.

  • @KypHeM then what happens when we run out?

  • @PatrickBarrett03 You will not see the day. Do you know that they still only recover maybe half the oil thats in the well? When technology improves we will have oil to last at least another 1000 years.

  • @KypHeM The problem still remains though. It wont last forever. If more cars like this came out, they'd be cheaper, more people would buy them and fueling companies can still profit off of an alternative source at pumps. Its not like petrol needs to be eliminated from the equation. There just needs to be a better balance of alternative fuels. Then the problem becomes this: petrol is the 'get rich quick' scheme because it's a business where people think "I'll be dead before it becomes a problem"

  • Hydrogen is dead as a transport fuel. Battery electric vehicles are making a comeback.

  • Sadly, fuel cells are to this day insanely expensive (I'll just point out that it needs platinum to work), and along with the hydrogen infrastructure clashing against oil politics it will take maybe decades to become a standard propulsion. We could do something easier first, like adapt hydrogen as a fuel for normal combustion engines, much like LPG or CNG installations. Imagine the beautiful roar of Ur 6.2L HEMI blasting next to U with just some water vapor coming out of the exhausts. Lovely.

  • I would love to have one of them but a shame that the clarity is massively expensive, imagine who much money will it cost to bring compressed hydrogen stations to the public of England and Ireland.

  • new teches is so great, but when our using them, these are so expnesive cost. we can get useful and some light ways for environmental we don't need using new technology applicatinons. one way say, we can use the framable gus from ferment garbage.

  • why does every eco friendly car have to look like a shoebox?

  • 3m54s

    YYYYAAAHHHH BEEEEE!!!!!

  • Most scientists consider there is no future to the hydrogen car, because it takes a ton of electricity to produce hydrogen, which causes even more pollution than the petrol we use in cars.

Unless we find an efficient way to create electricity (fusion?).

  • @LeMAD22 Use energy generated from Solarpanels, windmills and watermills. Problem solved.

  • @PalleSchultz Do you know how much time it would take to charge up a car with electricity from solar panels or windmills? Hippie eco crap solutions are fine, up to a point.

  • @lethe56

You dont have to charge a Hydrogen car. It runs on Hydrogen. But use solarenergy, windmills and watermills for producing hydrogen, and it doesn't matter how much energy it takes to produce it, as long as it comes from a clean source.

  • @PalleSchultz I thought your were talking about charging an electric car up. Gotta learn to read before I answer a comment.

  • @lethe56

    Shit happens ;)

  • what is ridiculous is that hydrogen is the most abundant source in our universe... why is it the same price as gasoline?!?

  • @lofy63 cuz they have to compress it, and properly maintain the storage tanks and stuff like that.

  • @lofy63 because you need electricity and special electrodes to seperate hydrogen and oxygen molecules and there aren t massive industries that do this job while there are millions of petrol rafineries.. I think it is extremely cheap.

  • It's a real shame to see top gear so amazingly biased. To rip the Tesla Roadster to pieces in the very same episode they praised the hell out of the vastly more expensive and, to be honest, still experimental Clarity is just bad form. If they'd raised even some criticism against the hydrogen car they wouldn't have taken as much stick for this episode as they did, but for almost the first time on top gear, they have absolutely nothing bad to say. Unbelievable.

  • @jabberwock95 dude.....ur an idiot.....so what if they dont have anything bad to say about it? doesnt that mean there are less bad things to talk about? or the car is actually revolutionary....but because its a honda its not good? FUCK YOURSELF!!!

  • @jabberwock95 were you stoned when you typed this by any chance?

  • This is crap funded directly by oil companies. Hydrogen cars are EXTREMELY rare because they are so damn complicated and expensive to manufacture. Guess why hes not telling you how much this car costs? Cos you cant buy one, thats why!

The only reason the media keep going on about hydrogen car is because the oil companies pay them to. The oil companies want you to drive hydrogen cars cos THEY are the ones who will be producing it and selling it! Wake the fuck up people!

  • to be fair i think "THEY" are the ones who have been trying to keep it in the dark, mazda had a hydrogen car back in 2002 yet it was swept under the carpet, bmw had one in 2005 and it was also swept under the carpet... guess we dont know who is pulling the strings with the media..

  • @MrAverageGuitarist I also believe that the gas companies have also bought the rights to hydrogen, so as soon as the gas runs out they'll be in direct control of the hydrogen cost.....regardless...I wouldn't mind paying the same price as long as its not pumping out carbon dioxide

  • @MrAverageGuitarist You could drive a 6ltr V8 for 85 years and do less damage to the environment compared to just MAKING one of them hydrogen Prius type ideas. I would rather have some fun in a big loud fuel consuming, tire screaming V8 for 85 years :)

  • @MrAverageGuitarist

You are an idiot. I just went down the street and there was a brand new one on sale at the Honda dealership for 19,000. Yah, real expensive.

  • @AlexPittEdu No mate, you cant buy the fuel cell version of this car, you can only lease them in South California for $600 a month for a period of three years. Honda have only planned to produce 200 of these over the last 3 years. Know why? Because it such an expensive technology. Now pull your head out of your ass.

  • @AlexPittEdu I think you're talking about the Honda Insight hybrid, it's very fuel efficient and looks great too. Looks similar to the Clarity isn't it :)?

  • I live in california and never seen one of these

  • When can we expect to see it in Florida?

  • The hydrogen fuel cell car is the answer!!!

It's easy to capture Hydrogen through electrolyses. Any place that has water and electricity will be able to capture hydrogen for the hydrogen fuel cell car.

NASA has been using hydrogen fuel cell technology since the 1960's in the space program and continues to use this technology in the space shuttle program.

The US needs to quickly move to hydrogen fuel cell technology?

  • whats the song at 6.18?

  • Why not use the water exhaust to make more Hydrogen?

  • I should first state that I think global warming is the biggest hoax of the decade.

With that said, why do green cars all look like crap? You get a bunch of whiny people all wanting to drive this butt ugly cars when it makes no sense. Most electric cars will get their power from coal power plants, hydrogen cars from natural gas. We have the technology to make gasoline and diesel from algae and it would run in the cars we already have. Plus my current Corvette looks way better than this.

  • when season/episode is this?

im doing something about hydrogen fuel cell cars and could use this video during the presentation!

  • This video is complete cr*p, hydrogen comes from NATURAL GAS, people! To make it from water requires way more energy than you get out of it. Sure, charging an electric car uses energy, but then so does producing hydrogen! The difference is that electric cars are WAY more efficient and CHEAPER at converting that electricity than hydrogen is. Charging an electric car costs $30 a month. Sorry, Shell, but you haven't duped me. I am a mech engineer working in energy production - it's a SCAM!

  • LOVE IT! not bc it's looks good or anything, but bc it's save the FUTURE!
