@GobyGuitar I use a midi sequencer to trigger the samples, then use a sampling package to create the sounds, ie all software. Keyboard would be ok for standard beats and stuff, probably not more difficult fills and such though.

@MattElectricWizard Does using the sock or cloth. also work for muffling the open strings on the acoustic guitar as well, or does it only apply for the electric?

@JCabag Nah you can't use that trick when playing any open strings as the string will be damped. That is the whole purpose of the trick to damp open strings. I wouldn't get too used to using it, just sometimes if you want to clean up a recording or such. Using it all the time could introduce some bad habits!

Haha sorry man, a lot of guitarists do that when recording, it dampens the open strings you don't intend to play. A piece of felt or hair tie is best but I was too lazy to find those and just used a cloth. I used it on that particular track because when I was doing the bends at 0:57 & 1:09, the string above kept sounding on the way down.
