A lot of David's music is about the sea and how far we've come since the days we were fish, crawling out of the sea. A distant sound from a place we do not know or truly understand, his is the music of Neptune, a far off king of planets, bathed in mesmerising blue. His sweet yet powerful voice and grand guitar playing will serve as a constant reminder of the place we came from and will return...the sea...the sea.

There's a reason, I'm sure, that it wasn't as good as the album version.

The Whammy pedal is what Gilmour was using to get those ultra-high pitches, and he had to move it certain ways in the right moments to get those sounds. It's not that easy, really.

If anything, this was better than his solo performance at Wembley Arena in 2004 for the Stratocaster anniversary show (available on DVD as "The Strat Pack")

lol no way. The strat pack performance is amazing, in many ways superior to the recorded version.

I look at it as the best version of marooned, just like most of the distant sound of thunder versions are superior in many ways.
