finally they figured out what made the Genesis games so good and why al the other attepts where so bad. the first thing I noticed is the camera pans back. A problem I was having with Sonic 4 the camera was zoomed in too close. It was also too easy to get stopped and take to long to get going again. Sonic 4 was too busy though it did look good. Generations looks really really good and well balanced. I'm buying it later today.

That's the whole point of making it a new experience while keeping some familiar elements. If everything was the way it was, we'd be throwing our controllers at the wall. Getting 50 rings may be easy, but getting the red star rings is another story.
Just by looking at this vid and the sky sanctuary vid, this game is going to be epic. If everything is as good as SEGA says, this game could be better than Sonic CD and Sonic 2
@nickoberon Sonic 2 had some really bad badnick placements, but I can see why people favourise it. It's a great and fast-paced sonic game, representing everything sonic should be about..

The way they brought back a variety of zones is wonderful, especially with the way they tied them into the plotline as you traverse them in the story... I was a hardcore fan of the original Sonic Adventure, back when I first got my Dreamcast in '99 ^o^ I love the art style of the game as well... The background renders are gorgeous, and the menus have such a great flashy Eighties-ish feel. Sonic Team is doing REALLY well with this.

@Littledude1126 ÿou can probably waltz to the right and left switching zones..and each zone probably has a "mascot" tails for green hill, knuckles for sky sanctuary, etc. I don't know what happens when you walk to them..maybe they just give a ranking list, tutorial whatever..it has been announced that sonic is the ONLY playable character in this game.

as you said the mario games are released after long intervals and by commiting more time for project and releasing titles for a franchise, makes the game much more appreciated when out. :)

to me colors was already a great sonic game but fans wanted something just like the old days sonic so that is exactly what sega is doing however people complain about a fu..ing script in loops and stuff... dude you can't do shit in a loop so they might as well give it some visuals

Still looks like ramps are scripted to hell and back. Every time Sonic goes off one it looks like their is a small hiccup.
All that effort into making classic Sonic look fantastic and then disregard the physics of what made Sonic great? That's the Sonic Team I know!

@Littledude1126 ÿou can probably waltz to the right and left switching zones..and each zone probably has a "mascot" tails for green hill, knuckles for sky sanctuary, etc. I don't know what happens when you walk to them..maybe they just give a ranking list, tutorial whatever..it has been announced that sonic is the ONLY playable character in this game.

@Delvarian Exactly! This could be the best-received Sonic game in 17 years! Even beating the Adventure games! Seriously, if that ever happens, there will be high expecations for SEGA from now on.. which means SEGA can never afford to screw up again. It's like making someone president or king and then they screw up lol.

@Delvarian Yeah, and I'm the Only one who thinks this, or should SEGA put that Epic music at the end of Sonic 3 for the end credits of Sonic Generations? You know, the one influenced by Michael Jackson's "Stranger in Moscow".. now that would be better than Any rock/metal credit song.

@nickoberon they are playing with their best card now, I'm really curious as to where they'll go after this one..they should probably work on other classics like..shenmue?! (goddamit!) or even bring ristar back..sonic's been getting to much attention atm. although he needed colors and this game to be redeemed.

I think after this game SEGA should take a well deserved BREAK from Sonic, and only focus on the Sonic 4 episodes 2 and etc.. there shouldn't be another sonic game for the next 3 years (2014). That's why Mario games are so great and superior.. cuz they don't come every single year

as much as I'd hate to admit it, gotta give Nintendo props for (mostly) bringing out excellent mario titles. I did like sonic unleashed and black knight. But I can see why it was so universally disliked.
as you said the mario games are released after long intervals and by commiting more time for project and releasing titles for a franchise, makes the game much more appreciated when out. :)

I didnt like the sound effect when you gain a life.. the old sinic 90' sound was far more beautiful.. you felt that you achieved something.. now its just a simple sound like you won some rings or something... als the sound when you complete the level... totally poor... last but not least I think they need to change a little sonics face.. I mean we all know him having this dexter badass expression by tighting his eyebrowns.. anyway its better than the previous crap about sonic..
