@michaelhviper No salvaging in Mech2 31CC or GBL. Reason being is that the Clan gives you all the resources you need, and you pretty much have access to any Mech featured in the game (save for the Inner Sphere mechs only available in Instant Action).

@sonickchri This is via DOSBOX. As for patches nope. You should post a support request at the website skyfaller might be able to help you with the mechvm issue if you describe it. As for otherwise, if you come on our IRC channel which can be found on the website I'd be glad to help install it manually if you like.. Alternatively I do have a video uploaded that shows how to install Mech2 and DOSBOX use. It is not exactly the same as GBL install, but it is close.

@SirxMMPD Thanks so much! I have and am playing MW2 and Mercs via DosBox. Love these games (just no music in MW2: if I mount the .CUE version of the file then the in-mission music is screwy in so I play the soundtrack outside of the game on my computer for a more full experience)!! I will head over to scour the website mech2.org though and post a support request or even hit up the IRC channel and maybe contact you there. Thank you!!!

@alchemistjuice Good question. I lucked out when my roommate brought it from home. I'm not sure where he got it. I don't even use or have the disc with me so I cannot even tell you which version it is (it's DOS, I believe but not certain). I know Amazon.com has some versions but not sure if they're the ones you want. You should check out the mech2.org forums thread under the installation/start guide to determine the version you really want. Or you can ask SirxMMPD directly. He helped me out tons

@burningwreckage00 You can always download the games on torrent. It's how I managed to get the three MechWarrior 2 trilogy games, plus MechWarrior 3 (which is the worst of them all), as well as both MechCommander and MechCommander 2 games.

Will this game run on XP, or even better, on 7? My original MW2 game won't run on XP, but i suspect it's because i have the ATI enhanced one, or whatever and don't have ATI graphics.

Would the basic game work though? or, alternatively, could this game run through DOSbox?

Yes, it does work on XP.

DOSBOX with the DOS version works the best for Vista and above though..

You can get the 95 versions working on Vista, but it is buggy.

Then again, other clans would consider it a "second line" mech. I think the Ghost Bears considered it to be a "totem" mech.

It's not an omni...but more than capable of mauling one.

Agreed. The only reason why Modern Warfare 2 is *best* is because it's a widely available console shooter that's popular among the masses today. MechWarrior 2 will always be the defenitive MW2, 15 years it has had that acronym for having the best gameplay for its time, and one of the best damned storylines (especially when cross-referenced with the novels for that time) in the BattleTech Universe.

I am having a bear of a time(no pun intended) trying to get past the mission right before the khan trial in a moth.

In a firemoth with all objectives on hard?You must be very very good to do it in mech2 DOS!(Titanium not included because of MPLAS)

The mission has about a dozen helicopters, 1 direwolf, 1 Battlemaster, 1 other mech which I cannot remember, 6 or so tanks, and a convoy which you are supposed to destroy before it reaches the dropship, 2x turrets. And a few more things which I cannot recall. All of this is fought pretty much at the same time.

In a crow it may be easy, but a moth is a problem.

And with no wingmen... I would have considered breaking that rule (prolly bring a Crow and T-Wolf), but I don't think that's feasible in your case, with coordination, friendly casualties and all. (I thought Crow would take tanks and helos, you take on the Mechs while the Wolf takes on the convoy).

It actually may be able to work if you use mechvm from the website... though I will tell ya that battlepack/titanium are not the same thing as the original as far as playability.

Nope that is titanium which is even worse than battlepack if your used to the original. Battlepack only had GBL & Mech2.

These games were SO amazing. MW2 is what got me hooked on PC gaming back when I was a kid.

Too bad Microsoft had to go sell out the franchise to make maybe the WORST XBox games ever in MechAssault. Then FASA sold Battletech out to WizKids and even the novels started sucking.

If you're a fan of real MW, though, you should check out MW: Living Legends. It's a free mod to Crysis coming out this year. It looks fantastic!
