Yes, it will work, but you need to boot it from an "123BootCD" up. You boot first trhe CD, then you change the CD's and BOOM! There is it. You're PC will boot in the OS X install from a legit copy :D (Only works with Intel Core2Duo, 512MB of RAM and a Motherboard with an Foxcon or Intel chipset).
I do believe this is illegal and against the Digital Millenium Copyright Act and also the Apple Software License Agreement, where you may only install OS X on an Apple labeled computer.
I dont find anything special in Mac its better to install Ubuntu and that looks much better and reliable, secure and everything works out of box rather than tweaking all these bullshits.. by the way.. i got apple keyboard for my pc and it works.. yay..the alumininum keyboard is cool.
yeah its fun to do, but its a hell of a lot of hassle, plus most of the components dont work, eg wifi, ethernet (sometimes)...my advice, just buy a mac. They run EVERY conceivable OS, as well as OSX obviously...plus all the adapters work. I got one and havent looked back. They may be expensive, but are well worth the money...the aluminium macbook is the shiz!
but the hassle is worth it when you know you fucked steve jobs out of $2000 instead of him fucking you out of $2000 but anyway osx will install flawlessly if you chose the right hardware its when you chose unsupported hardware thats when issues show up and tweaking is required

If you're so insistent on running OSX for a reason other than to just be able to do it, such as running Apple's excellent library of Mac-only programs, use an emulator. May I recommend PearPC? Other than 'just seeing if you can do it', why would anyone want to run OS X on PC hardware anyway? I bought a iMac several years ago and installed the first version of OSX, and could'nt see what all fuss was about, still don't. Windows PC's have vastly more support, hardware and software than Macs. Theres nothing you can do on a Mac that I can't do on a PC. Can a Mac user make that claim about a PC? NOT!
I tried to install it on my amd pc, it booted up and all but it couldnt find usb drivers so it never worked. what you using to run it and how much is it?

OSX on a pc isn't going to run aswell at it will on a Mac. The mac hardware is built to run OSX a pc will run osx but not as good since its not built around the OS.

When they're testing a mac, they're testing the UI/OS NOT the hardware. If they were, they'd find in favour of the PC.

I do like linux, ubuntu gutsy gibbon was great and hardy heron was even better, but I don't really like the interface and stuff, I do realise that you can customise it though... where can you go to make it more like the mac interface? With the dock and stuff? I've seen it done b4, might install HH on my PC :p, get rid of my windows viruses once and for all :-D
They already have an installed, called the package manager. Also programmers have the choice to give out .deb files (i think thats the file) and all you gotta do is enter root password and hit Install and bam, its all done. Alot of developers arn't doing that but, they are sticking with the command line installers.
KDE is a much more pretty interface, and check out Beryl or Compiz Fusion also. If you want a mac like interface, go hit up Google for some KDE themes. I personally recommend Gnome.
I have to admit that for PC work I would prefer to use Ubuntu, mainly because it doesn't use as much RAM, doesn't get virus's and is a lot nicer looking than vista. Although I would argue it isn't as good as macs still because PCs are bad for latency, and being a music student this is unacceptable. Also I prefer te mac lay out, and the dock :-p. But hey, if I can get a linux that works similar to a mac I'll install it 2night on my PC :-)

it's more responsive on an apple computer, can't really say for a PC, but it does use up about 1/4 of the RAM and CPU load. Best way of thinking about macs is to picture 2 cars, one representing OS X, and one representing vista. Both cars have the same engine (imagine the hardware of the computer as the engine), and both cars have all the same parts and pieces, in fact they're identical in every way. Now give the windows car oval wheels... which is more stable and faster?
oh sorry, the first part of my comment comes across slightly wrong, I meant OS X uses up a 1/4 the RAM than vista, not that it uses 1/4 of the RAM on an apple computer as opposed to on a PC. My macbook boots in 25 seconds whereas in this vid it takes about 50 seconds... granted that's probably just hardware, but an apple will run OS X slightly better purely because the apple motherboard is made to run OS X and is optimized to do so
Thats also wrong. My Vista install boots in 24 seconds from the moment its turned on.
Also, my vista install is using...mhmm....1109mb out of 4096 available, with FF, mIRC, Media Player Classic and Windows Live Messenger running. The OSX hardware is NO different than the PC these days (Macs are based on Intel reference boards), talk of optimisation is utter crap. Theres a LACK of configurability on Macs too, thanks to there being no BIOS which which to actually TUNE your system with.
I would like you to prove your vista boots in 24 seconds, my friend Gaz has a PC w/ vista ultimate, 4gb RAM and 3Ghz C2D and even his takes a minute.
My macbook is currently using 800mb out of 2gb, with safari, widgets, stickies, adium (msn style thing), MacFreePops 2.5, and mail running.
Apple hardware does differ in terms of the airport card and the apple motherboard and considering the motherboard is where everything is optimised you're wrong. There's no need to tune, it's done 4 you :-D
oops, I forgot to mention iTunes coz I had it minimised :-p. Again, with all the things listed above; Safari, widgets, stickies, adium, MacFreePops 2.5, and mail I am using 620mb, and then with iTunes open it's 730mb (strangely less than last time o_O lol). The mac os itself (10.5.3 Leopard with all three service packs up to date) uses 277mb. If I now open XP pro in a VM I can tell you VMware fusion uses 27mbs and XP Pro is using 600mb. OS X is as operational as vista, and smaller than XP :-)
Funny then, how my brothers iBook (C2D 1.83Ghz) has almost every resource allocated in trying to keep OS X, iTunes, Safari and MSN afloat....in fact, as of...now, it has 14mb free memory, out of a gig...

Apple motherboards are all made by either Asustek or Foxconn, and still BASED ON THE IDENTICAL INTEL CHIPSETS THE REST OF THE WORLD GETS.
I practically built my PC, I installed the RAM, hard drives, disk drives, PCI cards, I've been a windows user for 10 years! I know what the fuck I'm doing and the mac does it all better!! He's actually really good with computers and me and him actually fixed his iPod yesterday, which is harder than a PC considering it's most the same parts but smaller!! Plus I was there when he booted it up first time and it took around the same time it still does. Apple make their own motherboards!!

I'm a musician, my PC has slightly slower specs as my mac (3.6 single core, 2gb RAM), and yet when I record there is no latency on the mac and the quality is much better! On the PC I get latency and if I edit the music too much I get loads of jittering and clock sync errors and the recorded audio is not as good quality.

Umm.. I have C2D processor with x86, x86-64, MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3 but when I try to boot with osx dvd, nothing happend, just going to bootloader. If the OSX 10.0.3 will work with pc?
Asus P5B-E - i965P chipset. The only thing that didnt work was the Onboard LAN - the Attansic L1 - however as of about June, someone was working on porting the FreeBSD driver to OS X, so that could be working as well by now...

Solaris also works well on x86. I've used it for many years now on heaps of Intel machines and it's rock solid. I swear by it. I used to be into OpenBSD and FreeBSD which I believe OS X is based on but Solaris really takes the cake. It doesn't go down unless you turn it off. I've got a Mac and it's pretty impressive but in my view Solaris rules.

Yes, it will work, but you need to boot it from an "123BootCD" up. You boot first trhe CD, then you change the CD's and BOOM! There is it. You're PC will boot in the OS X install from a legit copy :D (Only works with Intel Core2Duo, 512MB of RAM and a Motherboard with an Foxcon or Intel chipset).

yeah its fun to do, but its a hell of a lot of hassle, plus most of the components dont work, eg wifi, ethernet (sometimes)...my advice, just buy a mac. They run EVERY conceivable OS, as well as OSX obviously...plus all the adapters work. I got one and havent looked back. They may be expensive, but are well worth the money...the aluminium macbook is the shiz!

I bought a iMac several years ago and installed the first version of OSX, and could'nt see what all fuss was about, still don't. Windows PC's have vastly more support, hardware and software than Macs. Theres nothing you can do on a Mac that I can't do on a PC. Can a Mac user make that claim about a PC? NOT!

Just cause you have the same amount of ram required and HD Space doesnt mean its going to run the same on a pc. You could have the requirements but have cheaper parts. It doesn't 'run like shit' as you put it. Either you're a complete tool and don't know how to install it, or you're trying to install it on hardware thats incompatible with OS X's limited kernel. Dell may be mass produced, but you know something? They're made by AsusTek and FoxConn as well - so your argument just got shot down in flames.
When they're testing a mac, they're testing the UI/OS NOT the hardware. If they were, they'd find in favour of the PC.

They already have an installed, called the package manager. Also programmers have the choice to give out .deb files (i think thats the file) and all you gotta do is enter root password and hit Install and bam, its all done. Alot of developers arn't doing that but, they are sticking with the command line installers.
KDE is a much more pretty interface, and check out Beryl or Compiz Fusion also. If you want a mac like interface, go hit up Google for some KDE themes. I personally recommend Gnome.

I have to admit that for PC work I would prefer to use Ubuntu, mainly because it doesn't use as much RAM, doesn't get virus's and is a lot nicer looking than vista. Although I would argue it isn't as good as macs still because PCs are bad for latency, and being a music student this is unacceptable. Also I prefer te mac lay out, and the dock :-p. But hey, if I can get a linux that works similar to a mac I'll install it 2night on my PC :-)

it's more responsive on an apple computer, can't really say for a PC, but it does use up about 1/4 of the RAM and CPU load. Best way of thinking about macs is to picture 2 cars, one representing OS X, and one representing vista. Both cars have the same engine (imagine the hardware of the computer as the engine), and both cars have all the same parts and pieces, in fact they're identical in every way. Now give the windows car oval wheels... which is more stable and faster?

oh sorry, the first part of my comment comes across slightly wrong, I meant OS X uses up a 1/4 the RAM than vista, not that it uses 1/4 of the RAM on an apple computer as opposed to on a PC. My macbook boots in 25 seconds whereas in this vid it takes about 50 seconds... granted that's probably just hardware, but an apple will run OS X slightly better purely because the apple motherboard is made to run OS X and is optimized to do so

Also, my vista install is using...mhmm....1109mb out of 4096 available, with FF, mIRC, Media Player Classic and Windows Live Messenger running. The OSX hardware is NO different than the PC these days (Macs are based on Intel reference boards), talk of optimisation is utter crap. Theres a LACK of configurability on Macs too, thanks to there being no BIOS which which to actually TUNE your system with.

I would like you to prove your vista boots in 24 seconds, my friend Gaz has a PC w/ vista ultimate, 4gb RAM and 3Ghz C2D and even his takes a minute.
My macbook is currently using 800mb out of 2gb, with safari, widgets, stickies, adium (msn style thing), MacFreePops 2.5, and mail running.
Apple hardware does differ in terms of the airport card and the apple motherboard and considering the motherboard is where everything is optimised you're wrong. There's no need to tune, it's done 4 you :-D

oops, I forgot to mention iTunes coz I had it minimised :-p. Again, with all the things listed above; Safari, widgets, stickies, adium, MacFreePops 2.5, and mail I am using 620mb, and then with iTunes open it's 730mb (strangely less than last time o_O lol). The mac os itself (10.5.3 Leopard with all three service packs up to date) uses 277mb. If I now open XP pro in a VM I can tell you VMware fusion uses 27mbs and XP Pro is using 600mb. OS X is as operational as vista, and smaller than XP :-)

Keep the drive defragmented, disable superfetch, disable the scrolly boot screen and voila - 24 second boot. exactly, the same hardware except a mac uses up about 1/4 of it, therefor MORE PERFORMANCE!! I'm a musician, my PC has slightly slower specs as my mac (3.6 single core, 2gb RAM), and yet when I record there is no latency on the mac and the quality is much better! On the PC I get latency and if I edit the music too much I get loads of jittering and clock sync errors and the recorded audio is not as good quality.

Solaris also works well on x86. I've used it for many years now on heaps of Intel machines and it's rock solid. I swear by it. I used to be into OpenBSD and FreeBSD which I believe OS X is based on but Solaris really takes the cake. It doesn't go down unless you turn it off. I've got a Mac and it's pretty impressive but in my view Solaris rules.

Darwin is actually a version of BSD.

actually they are quite equal. BSD is all the same no matter what it is called. Darwin, BSD...same thing.

...well similar. But I generally say they are the same. I actually run BSD7.0/compiz and it whoops OS X in some ways, but I like OS X in it's packaged-ed-ed-edness
