The Cramps never changed their musical style in 30 years, and their style was entirely derived from the 1950s, and *yet*, they were STILL more original than 95% of the bands that have come along during their existence.
The only band I can think of to compare for true originality in sound and style is the sadly short-lived Morphine, and even that band pales compared to The Cramps.
