Did you tint the windshield? It looks like it. I can't think of a quicker way of getting a ticket. I don't know what the laws are in the state you live in but I don't know any that allow for windshield tint. I can see cops who would normally not hassle someone for tint going after someone just for windshield tint.
@Soulrider2012 Yeah the windshield on the maxima was tinted with 70% vkool tint. It was the lightest tint I could find at the time that blocks heat and UV. I now have 80% llumar air blue on my current car's windshield and it's not noticeable at all. Even the 70% isn't noticeable in person. A cloudy day and my crappy camera makes everything look darker than it is. I got it mainly to block heat and UV since that's the biggest piece of glass on a car letting in the most heat.
@lowincash Idk what type of film you have on there, but it doesn't matter how many layers you have,if it's a cheap roll of film it won't block out uv rays good, that's why you can get a tint job for 150 or 500.It's all about what type of film your putting on there.
@FrankRizzo762 yup i know what you mean, the first layer i had was 70% vkool, and it's a very good tint trust me lol that was expensive that's why i didn't want to remove it and just ended up getting another layer to make it darker. vkool alone was like over $700 for all around the whole car including windshield. it's been so long i forgot what i used for those other layers.
@lowincash Yea I never heard of that brand, and Oh damn that's expensive, but if it was worth it for you then I understand.I got 5% llumar all around, and it keeps my car nice and cool, but it can't block it all out.I plan on getting the doctors sticker to allow windshield tint, and that will make a significant difference.
@FrankRizzo762 yeah windshield tint helps a bunch, it's the biggest piece of glass on the car letting in the most heat lol right now i have llumar air blue 80% on my current car's windshield and even though it's not legal, it's not even noticeable. the llumar air blue is the lightest tint i can find and it blocks 43% of the heat coming in or something like that.
I think I know why your low on cash. Because you paid for a job done three times, when you only really needed 20% to begin with and it would have been plenty dark.
@five4allday Trust me, it's 3 layers. If I had gotten all dark like 35% or 20% layers then of course you won't be able to see in. But I had a layer of 70% plus two 50% on front, don't remember the back ones, it's been a while.
i just got precut tints off ebay for my celica so easy to put on and i got 5% for all windown except the front ofcourse so you can get tint done by your self for 25$ instead of 200 at shop Fk that
@123newmex Well all my 3 layers aren't dark. It's been a while and don't quite remember but I believe for the back it's 70% + 35% + 50% and front is 70% + 50% + 50% so it doesn't even add up to limo tint yet =/
@lowincash lol 800, damn...u got ripped off. full tint goes for like 200, and if you want like top of the line stuff, you would be looking at a max of 4-500 haha sucks for you
@somelameassboyscout lol it's ok I know what I got and I know how much it's worth. Don't forget, my windshield and sunroof were tinted with the vkool too. Windshield alone was $200 something. All cars I get will do the windshield which makes a huge difference. I got rid of the maxima in this video couple years ago, my current car has the windshield tinted with vkool too. I guess vkool is a rare tint so price is higher. Not all tint shops has it. I've done my research plenty before hand =]
@Forgoten214 Yes it is illegal but with the 70% tint it's so light it's hardly noticeable. The few times I got pulled over for tint the officer never noticed the windshield was tinted. Just don't go too dark.
Oh ok thanks. I was wondering about that myself I hate it when sun gets in my eyes while I'm driving and it always seems to happen on a backroad or crowded two way. Dangerous.
I was thinking of picking up some black magic window tint from Walmart and do it myself but i've never done it before and I'm kind of nervous to tint my own windows. It is usually about 220 dollars to do it at a shop locally so I figure it would be easier to just buy a tinting kit and put it on myself.
@Forgoten214 I don't recommend doing the tint yourself especially the windshield. I only had the windshield tinted to block heat and it does a good job at it. I paid $200something for tinting the windshield and it's the type of tint they used that's why it's so expensive. It's light and blocks out as much heat as darker tint. If you go darker then you'll risk getting pulled over for it =/
If I install 5% first layer and add 20% tint on the second layer will this make it 25% window tint. How come when added 35% to the 5% I still could not see through the glass should have been a lighter color? LOL.....
@loudblazer Yeah same here. That's why my left arm is always darker than the other haha But when I had the 3 layers on the maxima, I felt absolutely no heat from the sun on a 90+ degree day and with a/c on low so it does help significantly. I currently only have one layer on my current car and I feel the sun burn =/
@loudblazer Right now I have 1 layer of 70% vkool in my front windows and windshield. Rear is 1 layer of 15% and 2nd layer of 50%. I had darker fronts but got pulled over so I just stuck with 70% to avoid the hassle =(
nah never had problem w/ bubbling on either of the three layers. only one window had a dust partical in it that showed up slightly but that's about it.
yeah all windows are tinted including windshield. i think the video made it look darker than it really is plus it was a cloudy day i think. the windshield was only 60% so it's very light and not even noticeable unless it's cloudy.
i live in Fla and have had 5 all around for years no ticket, IF you get pulled over roll down all your windows and they cant do the test!! that looks dark as hell!! like 3 %
Isnt that illegal where you are? because here in california having the front side windows tinted anymore than like 10percent is illegal, and they make sure to pull you over for it
yah it's illegal...i'm in los angeles and it's illegal to tint the front with anything lower than 70%...but my 3 layers are very light layers each so total it's not that dark. maybe came out to be like 20% or something...before i got rid of the car i got rid of the 3 layers and just put 1 layer of 35% all around lol i was happy with it tho, it blocked out so much heat that i only had my a/c on low when it was in the 90's
in your country is legal on front windshield?i got on my passat 95%ultra super dark black on all windows also windshield and on the front windows i got 2 films 95%!is very very gangstah you get maxim respect in traffic no one has balls to say something
yup it's not as dark as it would seem...it probably comes out to be like 15% for the rear maybe? but the amout of heat it rejected was absolutely worth it. on 90-100 degree days i felt no heat coming from the sides and i had the a/c on low most of the time.
i first only wanted the 70% tint which blocks out more heat than some limo tint...but then it got too light so went with another...just couldn't make up my mind...but now i have only 1 layer of 35% and i think i'm done now lol
to know the percentage it is right now you have to multiply, for example, if you got 70% and then add a layer of 35% over it you get 70*(.35)=24.5%, if you add another layer of 50% it would be 24.5*(.5)=12.25%
hmm if i count it like that then my back is about 9% and front is about 17%...the back seems dark from outside but front you can see in like if i had 35% or something. maybe it has something to do with the 70% first layer?
what percentage is the windshield?? looks nice. putting the %70 first then adding a darker layer over it, I think it makes the tint look less black from the outside, right? it would look more black if you put the darkest first then the lightest layers at the top. I know it would be the same VLT, but it just wont have the solid black look. It would look kinda like mirror tint. I know you have it this way because the first layer of tint was expensive, but am I right about what im telling you?
yeah i think having the 70% on first makes it less dark...don't know why's that but it sure blocks out a ton of heat lol...my windshield is 70% vkool also. i mean if i wanted dark tint i would have just gotten a layer of 15% or something but yeah the first layer was too expensive and i didn't want to waste it. to be honest, i have no idea what my percentage is right now =/
well after i got a ticket for having 20% tint i just didn't want to have tint anymore...so i got the 70% vkool just to block heat. after a while i felt like tinting again so i added another layer. i didn't want to remove the vkool because that one was very expensive. it was still not dark enough so added 3rd layer lol
Did you tint the windshield? It looks like it. I can't think of a quicker way of getting a ticket.
