There should be a workshop for those who are thinking about going into the music industry to prep them in all aspects of management. It breaks my heart to hear and to see gifted talent destroyed because of being to trusted and innocently ignorance. I need your input please.
@vrob1 I guess you're right. But nowadays, most of these new artists are already struggling just to get their music heard. Once they do and becomes the talk of the town, they start worrying about maintaining their popularity and not their longevity in this market. Really can't convince them to take BM classes before they go out in the real "dog eat dog" world! Peace man!
Linda, Linda, Linda. I missed you soo much. When you connect with song writer's style, you have a personal encryption in their style of writing, composing and orchestrating material for the choosen one to put the finishing touch to her gift. Me personally think Eloise Laws didn't get proper props just like a whole lot of gifted artists that were ahead of their times. Now Phylis Hyman, let me tell you, if you really want to end on a high note after a wonderful stella evening.Put on some Phylis ; )
@DustySoulLtd I listened to the Stylistics version of this song for the first time. I liked it.But I love Weezee's rendition. The first thing that grab you are the flowing strings intro. It seductively lure you in and mellow you out. What a flow....Priceless!!!!!
I have this album my twin My late twin sister purchased it just lovely , I love her voice and yes the strings are fantastic, My identical twin sister sang this at a college show, turned it Out R.I.P Candy ( Charlyn Hyman)
I knew Linda Creed and stayed in her home years ago....she wrote this song....and hundreds of others the Stylistics and Temptations recorded ...she was a beautiful human being ~
just loved how Linda and Thom used the strings in all their songs with all the artists they worked with, just pure magic ! I know times and things change, but for the better I always thought . These new and up and coming artist just don't have the same music savy as those of times past. While I don't think much of Alisa Keys singing the girl I think is a good writer and she could very well do some great score if she wanted to.
Wow!! I forgot about Eloise doing this Jam...I had this album and she sounds beautiful singing this song. I was just listening to the Stylistics singing this and saw Eloise and had to come here. Thank U whomever posted this
So the late Linda Creed did write this masterpiece? This song takes me back to DC and Howard University's radio station, WHUR, which started the Quiet Storm urban music format.
@amd77j Same here. I got to Howard in '85 and discovered this gem on WHUR. I copied it onto cassette from the radio and it was years before I found out who the artist was. I now have the original LP that I found at a flee market a few years ago. This song brings back great memories of my time in Drew Hall. :-)
@drice67 Actually this song brings back memories of my time in Carver Hall (1977-1981)...96.3 WHUR The Quiet Storm Format with Melvin Lindsay (R.I.P.). I didn't think Drew Hall guys listen to the "Quiet Storm"....lol.
@wlsn11359 I guess I'm an old soul. When all my friends were jammin to Doug E Fresh and LL Cool J I was chilling with Michael Franks, Rodney Franklin and Norman Connors. :-)
Wow, I musta been 12 yahrens old when this came out - still watching Battlestar Galactica reruns... diggin' Rufus & Chaka, Steely Dan, The whole Laws Family: Ronnie Laws, Hubert Laws, Debra Laws... and of course Eloise Laws. She and Debra on vocals... like Ronnie and Hubert on instruments... Mmmm!!! Sweet synergy!!! Check 'em all out for yourselves... Enjoy!
If I'm not misstaken, Linda Creed wrote the lyrics to this song. It sound so much like her material. I know Linda Creed, Phylis Hyman, Eloise were friends. This song take me back when I was stationed in Mildenhall AFB England..513th TAW from 76-1978.
man I had a blast. I can over there as not knowing what cards life was going to deal. but when I left, I matured as a man with great respect for a woman. To all the women who play a vital part in my life. Thank you so much .
@marshell55 Sorry for the much late, late, late response to your post. I'll upload your request as soon as it gets xfered by my editing tool :-) Cheers!
@vrob1 Linda Creed did penned this. Eloise told me herself. I so remember this during my teenage days working in Radio. I hosted the Sunday afternoon Jazz Segment. And I can tell you I had no idea what I was doing. I just played what the programmer told me to. KTRY AM FM

A rap group called eMC sampled this song for "Traffic". This song reminds me so much of Phyllis Hyman. Very soulful and peaceful. Me likes!

@vrob1: you might be right but this cover version by Eloise was made popular by the Stylistics.
It's always great to know that men could be bent by music and feel the respect for women.
All the best man!
