Most all of our surviving trolley trackage is on reservations. There is just one short about a mile long run that is actually on the street. That is from Brigham Circle out to Heath Street. That is pretty slow. The lines on reservations, except for the Riverside line, have to slow down as they get closer to the subway because of more stops and traffic crossing over the reservations.
The Riverside line runs completely on its own reservation, a former heavy railroad ROW, and is fast. Our Boston College and Cleveland Circle lines run on reservations but contend with street traffic at crossovers.

Great video. Don't think I've ever seen light rail move that fast in an urban setting before.

They roll a little slower in the more congested area closer to Downtown Boston.

Yeah, but there the rails are crappy and grooved into the pavement and shared with street traffic I assume, right?

When I was a kid 50 years ago there were still many lines running on streets. They were everywhere. The good old days.
