But you are correct to say that Bristol's adultery is a sin just as sodomy is a sin. But here's the difference: Bristol is repentant. She does not demand we accept her adultery. She does not take a pro-adultary stand. She does not demand that we change laws so adultery is legitimized. Her book does not promote adultery, but rather denounces it.

@hippoaugustine I am uncomfortable with the concept that u can commit a sin as long as u repent afterward cuz im pretty sure she had sex more than once outside of marriage but i will give validity that ur point. My point however is that ppl try to pass laws banning gay marriage based on their beliefs but dont try banning sex outside of marriage that is also part of their beliefs. Therein lies the hypocricy.

Yes, planning to repent of sin before you commit it is lame.

But that doesn't make all repentance invalid. There are Christians who truly repent, are forgiven by God, and work at overcoming particular sins whatever they may be. We are not perfect. Some sins are tough to get past. What god expects is that at our core we agree with him and intend to change.
