'The Ark in Space' is a splendid 4 parter, and Tom Baker really hits his mark proper in only his second adventure. I do consider the Fourth Doctor, Sarah and Harry as the best Tardis team there's ever been, and they all act their respective socks off in this one. As you say this story is certainly "a lot of fun", but as it's written by the great Robert Holmes would you expect anything less.
'The Ark in Space' gets a resounding 10/10 from me!
Welcome back Tricklestone! Thanks for the review of "Ark in Space", one of my all-time favorites. I'm not alone in that feeling it seems, based on comments.
I'm collecting the "Sarah Jane" era on DVD, "Time Warrior-to-"Hand of Fear" and now have all available DVDs. "Seeds of Doom" will get U.S. release in April this year!
The DVD's are incredible, and loaded with info! DW fans are advised to at least rent the available stories on DVD, and will not be disappointed.
First off...great wee intro ma man...ahh...I got my fix after all this bloody time!...lol...and I felt every day of it!!...Thought Davros had made off wiv you!!...Glad to see you back......can't wait for the rants either...Better than Zeitgeist!...Anyway...hope you'll be around for a bit!...Missed ya, mate...thankyou and be well!...See you in time!...lol.
Yeh I want 2 see that deleted Scene too. I heard that after noah begs her to kill him (handing her the gun) she actually considers it. Holding the gun up she aims the gun at noah, & cries "I can't". Noah replies like an echo "You MUST". She fires the gun, but at the door mechanism. Not Noah, & then drops the gun in disgust at herself for considering it in the first place. "Noah & I were pair-bonded for the new life". But WHERE is this scene?
Good that you're back big man! look 4ward 2the rant!
Good to see you and Cappy back. Hey, nice facehugger! (thats not a euphermism). I love this story, Robert Holmes is just getting warmed up and he produces brilliance. This performance cemented Tom Baker as the Doctor in my eyes he seems to just know what he is doing with the part. I just wish they still had the scene, that was cut, in the archive where Noah begs Vira to kill him, That would have made the DVD for me. Dudley Simson gives us an amazingly chilling score, just brilliant.
Hey welcome back It's been a while. Ark in Space is one of my ten favorite stories and one I continue to re-watch. You neglected to mention a couple of main points, especially the iconic moments where the Doctor refers to humans as indominable (which the Tenth Doctor later repeats) and Sarah Jane's iconic ventilation shaft scene.
Hello, Whovians, I'm finally back! There have been some really major changes in my life, rant forthcoming, but in the meantime, here is the long overdue review! Thanks for watching and hello and thank you to all the new subscribers! If the Doctor is not your thing and you're waiting for my rants, coming right up! Thanks and stay tuned!

@thecrankfile Thanks, Crank! I tried in vain to find the sound of the alien, the chittering hiss, but I like my sounds, too.
