One of the greatest fighters and influences in and out the ring, a gentlemen who was a role model for how boxers should behave to others sure his made some mistakes but whos perfect. i believe he beat trinidad and mosley 2 i also think he beat mayweather jr. He brought excitement to the sport and lured me into it too. This is an end of an era im gonna miss watching de la hoya in the ring he was my idol. If any one of us can achieve even half what he achieved then we can critisize. LEGEND!

You can not shit on De La Hoya's great career he's had many triumphs throughout his career he wasn't the best but should be recognized among them. Trinidad fight? robbed! Mosley fight Robbed! Chavez had that cut on him already but it was still a miss match because Chavez is not a welterweight. If Mayweather had pride & dignity & would of fought DLH would of beat him. Pacquiao? mismatch DLH shouldn't have gone down in weight that's not his weight. DLH deserves this tribute and many others!

dudes i've been telling people that oscar in my eyes and in many people's eyes isn't a champion worth remembering...he sucks!! To me a champion is someone that can beat the best of the best...all the loses on dlh's record are from top boxers...he beat an old chavez if chavez was few years younger he would have went through dlh like a knife on hot butter!! Ali,Sanchez,Chavez,Leonard,Mayweather,Hopkins,Gomez,Morales those are true champions!! Dlh second grade boxer!!

just because he's not ali or leonard doesn't mean he sucks. and you can't say he doesn't compare to ray leonard. just because he's not as great doesn't mean he sucks. that man has pretty much carried boxing on his shoulders for the past decade the sport will miss him now that he's retired. aside from maybe mike tyson, not other fighter generated an excitement among fans like oscar did. his fights were events. give the man his props, dammit.

I felt bad for Oscar cause he had been training for a long time for this fight and he was more focused than ever with a great team with: Beristain, Dundee, Zaragoza, ... so I understand this was a huge disappointment for him.

Oscar always said he would like to fight at Azteca stadium in Mexico so if he fights again it would be likely against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr at Azteca but i think he should retire

did it ever occur to you that maybe the men you mentioned are just special. if everybody could do what they did, how come they're arent more of them. longevity is a gift that not everyone gets, and oscar isn't the only one to not get it. let's see if you can do the same shit at 35 that you could when you were 25. i highly doubt it. hell, ray leonard was 32 and people were already saying he was too old.

@satano very rarely do you see fighters stay at the top until they are in their 40s, and the fighters you mentioned hopkins was a cagey fighter who hardly got into wars & fought smart foreman had a long layoff before coming back & purely relied on his power & chin which is the last things to go in your arsenal and holyfield just simply doesn't know when to quit and 100% dedicated to boxing. in oscars case he's fighting weight aswell bcos as you get older it's harder to make weight which...
