The actual full story is. She worked for Wal-Mart to have health insurance for her husbands colon cancer. On her way home from work she got hit by the truck. She sued for and won 750k. 350k went to her lawyer. 450k went to the fund. Wal-Mart sued for 475k. They dipped into thier sons college fun to pay the extra 25k. Son joined the military to get college money. Went to iraq and got killed by an ICD. I'm leaving this company the second i get a chance.

WalMart routinely takes out a life insurance policy on every employee without their knowledge. These are called 'dead peasant' policies and the family gets nothing! A lot of corporations do this.

I rarely disagree with Keith but on this one, WalMart was right. Basically, WalMart gave its employee $500K she was entitled to for the accident, but then the trucking company compensated her so WalMart gets their money back. WalMart gave her the money back b/c of the PR disaster. Then her husband divorced her so they could collect Medicaid. So basically they got paid three times for one accident. The fact that she only got $700K for that awful accident was her lawyers' faults not walmart

No they didn't. They gave her $500,000 and sued for $470, 000 while she was left with $417,000 after fees from lawyers etc. from ~$700,000 from the settlement.

I agree with the donut guy, her lawyer sucked.

The thing is, when Walmart was supposed to get its money back, she didn't have enough left over from the settlement, which just really sucks =/
