  • The voice acting is stiff in this trailer, however no one pays attention to book trailers so it's not a problem. I've read the book several times, it's quite nice.

  • i just think people are too closed minded when it comes to people being transgender- even though we moving forward in a sense were still trapped inside a black and white tv with very little progress of getting out :/

  • @GaaraSabuka There will always be some people who don't get it or don't WANT to get it, but the changes for gay and lesbian people in the past 30 years give me hope for trans people too. I never thought I'd live to see gay marriage as accepted as it is. Don't give up hope!

  • @Ellwitt I ditto that :DD altho in some places i do think they taken on step back (i.e my school) even if its just for a 'harmless' joke ---- but yeh hope is something i will never give up on :))

  • It's a pretty good book for its demographic. I've read it four times, and I've only had it for like two months.

  • Poor Trailer, Good Idea

  • @TheBiscuitBaker The trailer was eeire to me. I think it was a poor introduction, and didn't really express the fact that even though from time to time the story gets to be sad, this is supposed to be a comedy. It would look to someone who had never read this before almost like a scary read. I think this should really be made into a movie though. That would be awesome. I wonder if anyone would be willing to do that? This would definatly turn out much better than Transamerica. :-D

  • If a book doesn't have a good first line I can't seem to bother sticking around to read it, but this one sucked me! The entire time I was yelling out to an empty room "I know that feeling!" like the book was someone to converse with! It was like reading my own story, of course with some differences! This book is already one of my favorites and I'm not even finished. Chapter 14, a little more than half way. <3 <3 <3 - Not many characters remaining or I'd show just how much I really do love it!

  • Haha

  • Yes, "they" should. I wish I knew who they was.

  • I actually wish I could be that "They". Seriously. I'd do Hard Love though. That's the book that made me fall in love with your work. I think us fans should start with fanfics to spread the word ^_^. And yes, I will get to mine, having massive writers block, what do you do to combat it?

  • Anything my fans can do to spread the word about my books is helpful and thank you for it! As for writer's block, the closest I've come to it is just getting stuck in a novel and not knowing where to go with it. Best thing to do is to just keep writing... anything. You can usually write your way out of the hole, but if you give up you're lost.

  • @pritchwitt Would you mind if I made a manga version/anime adaptation of this novel? I mean, not at the moment but I would possibly consider it sometime in the future. I've read this twice before actually, and as a ftm myself I think this is a pretty accurate representation of what it's like to be transgender. I also liked how Grady seemed to express his emotions through his actions. He was a really cool and likeable protaganist. It was an interesting book. :-) btw have you ever read Luna?

  • @TheSnowyice So glad you liked Parrotfish! My publisher owns the rights at the moment, but that could change. Let me know if/when you decide you'd like to do a manga version and we'll see if there's any problem with it. I have read Luna and enjoyed it, but felt there also needed to be a book with a happier ending for trans kids.

  • @Ellwitt Actually I just so happen to be creating a novel like that among a few of my other book ideas. It will definatly have a really nice outcome and a positive way of looking at the issues that the characters have dealing with this topic. I'm not sure when i'll be finished with this project, but I already have a basic outline for it. It's going to be a comedy, but i'll of course still keep it realistic. =3

  • They should make a movie of this book.

  • I took out Parrotfish and its soo awesome I wish I could read it for 10 years.

  • Great trailer--it set a good tone!

  • Thanks, Melissa. I like the one your fan made for Voilet as well. Charming!

    Ellen

  • I may have been the only one who didn't like this book. It was a great premise and had a lot of potential, but to me it felt like a book your great-great aunt might have attempted to write about today's high school experience.

  • This was a really good book, I really enjoyed reading her writing

  • hah, first know her when she wrote Thirteen. Guess she was someone funny author. but this book sounds cool

  • Hi 80sKid, Thanks for the message. This is the only book that I have a trailer for--it was made by my son. Glad to hear you're a fan! Best, Ellen
