Some analog tape machines had a "vari-speed" which allowed the user to speed up or slow down the tape while recording or playing back. When the tape passed over the play heads slower it would take longer for recorded sounds to play back, including the beats of the tempo. In addition, slower playback of vibrations which make up pitch produce lower tones. Playedback at reduced speed, the tempo is slower and the key is correspondingly lower.

It's a "Montaya". Montaya's are not expensive. Play a lot of acoustic guitars before you buy one. Each has it's own unique voice. Even the same model, brand and year can vary tremendously in voice and playability.
