  • @herdman89 Here in the south we wait until spring and make our mash outside. If you do it in your home please sit your mash in the bathtub. It makes the clean up easier if your mash explodes. Just turn on the shower and wash it down the drain. lol

  • Distill it when it stops bubbling. Usually about a week or so.

  • @gotdathenny Once the mash has stop bubbling the alcohol level is to high for the yeast to survive or the yeast has died for other reasons. If your mash is made right and is completely sealed it can be stored for a long time in a cool dark place, just like wine. It does not increase the alcohol content. Best to distill after bubbling has stopped.

  • @gotdathenny Neither, your temp was to hot and you were boiling (212 degs or above) this can be very dangerous and cause a fire. Keep you temp between 180-200 degs. Also be sure you are not leaking any steam. The stuff that came out was your mash from pressure, it is safe to drink but week in alcohol.

  • no deermaster and this isnt a verry good recipe i think a plain sugar wash is more tasty and more economical also to get more content and product use distillers turbo yeast like the still spirits classic is what i use takes about 17 lb sugar to 6.5 gallons water and 1 packet of the turbo witch around here is about 5-6$ check out the forums and get any questions answered at brewhaus.com they also have all you need in yeasts and have premade stills and towers you can just put on a 15 gallon keg

  • @MrSlyRedFox Well im not sure of the exact numbers, but until the temperature platforms at around 172 degress Fahrenheit, get rid of all of the product before that because it contains mostly meth which can kill you. and after it starts rising again, your finished because everything after it starts rising again, it is simpily distilled water.

  • This guy is an idiot, the only thing that ferments is the sugar because the corn starches in the cornmeal have not been converted to sugar thru the action of amylaze enzymes. You just made sugar shine, no reason really to add that cornmeal unless you plan on adding some malted grain and heat that mash up to 152 to convert. Even then you'd need to boil that cornmeal a little to gelatanize the starches for conversion

  • Adding cornmeal to your fermenter does absolutely NOTHING unless you convert the starches to sugars. The cornmeal is a STARCH which yeast does NOT feed on. Also, it helps tremendously to melt the sugar in a pot oh hot water before adding it to the fermenter. You'd be better off using ONE pack of yeast to every 5-6 gallons of mash and you would get a much higher yield with more sugar. You would have been better off just using sugar, yeast, and water. Add a can of tomato paste to up the acidity.
